Have you started to pack and thought about how your going to surprise your son?

no packing allowed- would be too suspicious! ;)

I am ready to go with the surprise!! The gift basket is done (and hidden) and I pick up the HE tank from the party store tomorrow!!! DH is taking DS to get his haircut before the party so I will have an empty house to blow up the ballons and wrap the big box!! I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully you can take pictures of him when he finds out and post them on here, because I am sure others would like to see his reaction.

That is only if I can keep my hands steady enough to even press the button!! :rotfl2: I am going to be so excited when he finally gets to that present that I will probably pass out!!! (DH is the calm, cool and collected one, so he gets to videotape it!!)

Seriously, he has been begging to stay here so long that this is probably the icing on the cake for him! (I have to say, I am pretty excited about trying it too ;)) We are normally at the GF but this should be a fun departure!

Well at least I am sure you will be able to post about his reaction when you tell him the good news.

That's something else I would like to know.

I think it would be cool if you did a video journal kinda thing. You can record your sons reactions when he finds out. Both of your reactions when you see the hotel, and then again when you walk into the room. That should provided magical memories for a lifetime!

I need to know is the contemporary is a great hotel for The Sanchez Family! And those rooms in the Contemporary has more room to sleep?:confused3

Well the limit of guests in a standard room is 5 people, which does not count any kids under who are no more then 2 years old. Also their standard rooms are among the largest in all of WDW.

As a DEVOUT Blackhawks fan, I second this motion!! PLEASE take care of those nasty Red Wings for us :wizard:

Sorry for being off topic :flower3: 5 more days!

Gee, I hope you guys aren't too disappointed when the Wings REPEAT their championship again this year. :woohoo:

we stayed for the first time at the cr a few weeks ago, 11th fl.mk view, we loved it!! the beds are great! big bathrooms. if we ever go down and not use our dvc points for a trip, we are staying there!! :thumbsup2

I will like to thank you for all of the info about the Contemporary I hope to stay in this hotel for my birthday!

This is a question for anyone who has an upcoming stay at Bay Lake Tower. Since you will also have access to the pool at the Contemporary do you plan on using it or you don't plan to, since Bay Lake Tower will have it's own pool. I am just wondering because I want to get a sense of how many would take advantage of that or is this rule just for DVC members staying on points since they can legally pool hopp and not cash guests at Bay Lake Tower? Also if others did take advantage of that I would hate to see the Contemporary pool get over crowded where it means Contemporary guests can not get pool chairs.

I also want to say I am not criticizing this rule and I have no problems with it. However the same way Bay Lake Tower guests don't want their pool over crowded with Contemporary guests since we can not get access to it, you would understand Contemporary guests would not want the same thing to happen with their pool.

Our party of four won't be clogging the Contemporary pool...or the BLT pool for that matter LOL. We don't swim at the resort pools. They've always just looked kind of gross (of course, we usually see them at the end of the day when we're coming back from the parks LOL).

And I know someone will probably have proof to the contrary, but there's always ducks in the pools and that just never seemed sanitary to me. But I'm insanely germaphobic and picky LOL.

We're staying on cash, btw. We booked the BLT because one of us didn't want to stay in the GF again (all of our extended stays in recent years have been at the GF...we had a short stay at the CR last year) and there weren't any non-concierge rooms left at the CR for the 4-3 deal when we booked. And we liked the idea of staying somewhere brand new during opening week.

I never expected this to be such a big deal, to be honest. We don't care about the pools and I don't think we care about the lounge that we likely won't be able to use. We spend such little time at the resort when we're at WDW...it just doesn't matter that much to use. I guess it might if we used the pools more (or at all, as the case may be), but since we don't, it's not something that even crossed our minds before.

I won't be in the CR pool either. Like a previous poster, I'm not big on hotel pools. I enjoy seeing them, and sitting by them - but not getting in them (especially after all the posts regarding "pool evacuations" I've been reading ). Since the CR pool doesn't really have anything the BLT pool won't have as well (other than the snazzy cabanas by the bay pool), I don't think there will be a huge stampede of BLT guests using the CR pool.

I did think about having a swim in the BLT pool the morning of opening day - that's probably about the cleanest the pool will ever be.

...and there weren't any non-concierge rooms left at the CR for the 4-3 deal when we booked.

Not trying to change your mind, but I just wanted to let you know that you can still change 4/3 reservations IF there is availability. People are still able to do it and the WDTC isn't charging any fees to do so. You simply call them and ask if there's availability using the 4/3 at another resort. Many people cancel/change everyday which may mean a room at the CR, for example, has been freed-up for another guest.
