You can buy groceries at Fantasia Market on the 4th floor of the tower just next to the arcade. You can watch fireworks from the 4th floor balcony or you can see them from the parking lot. We would go to the movies under the stars and watch the fireworks by turning around in our chairs. They are held on the walkway between the CR and BLT.

The fourth floor observation deck is a great place, though it can get a bit packed. Really good view, though, and its cool having the monorail pass so close overhead as well. Also the 9 year old might like the cupcakes from the Contempo cafe. Very sweet. This 40 year old loved them! :)

We're checking in to BLT one week from today! It's our first time ever staying on property and our first trip in over 15 years!

We booked a cash reservation and I just want to confirm that we will have daily housekeeping, especially shampoo and conditioner. I don't want to bring it for 6 of us if I don't have to!!!

TIA!
Sarah

Yes, you will get daily service. Also, if you ever need more of anything, just call mousekeeping.

Two quick questions...

If you are not a dvc member but you rent points from a member, can you use Top of the World? I know you can't if you are a cash reservation but the language on using it if you are a guest of a dvc member is unclear.

Also, how long is that walkway to MK really? The million times I've passed it I never really noticed but it honestly looks like quite a hike...

THanks!!:goodvibes

Only DVC members have access to Top of the World Lounge. When we were there last week, they asked to see my blue DVC member card and my room key.

Since you're renting, you won't have a member card, so you won't be granted access to the lounge.

It takes our family about 10 minutes to walk over. Going to MK it is quicker to walk than take the monorail because of the loop but heading back to BLT from MK it might be a tie depending on how long you have to wait for the monorail to arrive at the MK station.

As for the walk, 10 minutes at a leisurely pace. If you stayed at one of the other resorts, think of it as walking to the bus stop, and then walking from the bus back to the room in your resort. Except, you didn't stand in line for a bus.

That is great prespective of the walk over to MK. :thumbsup2

I measured that path on Google Maps. The walk is the same as walking from BTMRR through the MK hub to Space Mountain... or from Spaceship Earth to the China pavilion... but without the crowds.

Thanks. Every time I walked past there a couple weeks ago, I would look over for the All Star Resort bus holding lines and think about having to wait there and then the long walk back.

We had two monorails pass over our heads on the last walk home. One, you would have had to be in full sprint mode to make it up ramp after exiting MK and have no one waiting. The second passed over our head as we were on the sidewalk to BLT, across the road entrance. If we were staying at CR, the monorail would have got there first. At BLT, still a draw.

Gotta say, we are checked in at Contemporary and in TPV room. WOW. I will never stay at a value again. Our view is amazing and we got all requests we asked for. Highest floor and odd numbered room. When my DD (3) woke up from her nap in her bed and saw the castle she flipped out (excited). Worth every dollar. Thanks to this thread for all the tips

That had to be precious to see your DD wake up.

Enjoy every minute, takes lots of pictures (feel free to post some, too;)), and book that Bounceback!

I don't mean to double post but my fiancé and I are dying to stay at the contemporary for our wedding trip in October 2014, but I'm finding it hard to get comparative pricing for 2013 - is October a really busy month for this resort? Do you think a 2 week reservation is even going to be possible? Thanks!!!

It is a convention center so that could play into availability. When we walked through yesterday there were a lot of business people checking in. I know the Gartner Symposium is this week and not sure if its Oct every year. From what I have read you can book room only reservations over the phone or through a TA about 500 days in advance. I would think if you could book the room that far out you should probably be able to get the two weeks you want.

Here are the CR rack rates for 2013:

You can technically book 500 days in advance, but you must call, you can't do it online. Your deposit amount will be adjusted once your dates' prices have been released. You can't book a package though until the 2014 prices have been released, but you can secure a room. You should have no trouble at all booking for two weeks. Free Dining has already been released for UK residents for 2013, so you may even be able to book in 2013 for 2014 with a UK FD offer.
