It seems like a lot of us will soon be at the Contemporary.

Not until December for DD and me, but I did just change our arrival date to before Christmas, rather than after:)

I added another Contemporary YouTube releated video onto the 1st page, this time it's of Chef Mickey's.

Thanks, it reminded though of how annoying that song can get :rolleyes1. Was the Mickey face in the very end of the video moving?

Question for anyone:

When CM is open for lunch during peak attendance periods, is the entertainment just like at breakfast and dinner or is lunch character-free?

In the past during free dining when I looked into Chef Mickey's during lunch the characters were still there, so I would say it's the same as breakfast and dinner.

As for the Mickey face moving at the end of the video, I don't think it was although I never paid any attention to it until you brought that. So I might as well watch it again to find out.

One oddball question--the daybed in the room-last time we were there, it was big enough for my DD who was 4 at the time to sleep on. I know they've renovated all the rooms-anyone know how big the sofa/daybed is? Big enough for a smaller 8 year old?
Thanks!

I am not sure how big it is since we have never needed to use it, but the fact that the Contemporary has the largest standard rooms among the Deluxe Resorts should be ok in terms of room you will have.

An 8 year old should be just fine on it :thumbsup2

It's a twin-size. My 16yo DD slept on one (at Poly, but same as the one we had last year at CR) just last week. She's 5'4"--No troubles.

Is there a list of conventions that are to be held at the Contemporary in December? I am curious if any are there during our vacation dates of 12/9 thru 12/17/2010. The Coronoado Springs thread lists upcoming conventions, so I am curious if there is a thread for the Contemporary, since it is also considered a convention resort.

I haven't been able to find a website that lists them, however I can tell you from personal experience that they don't have conventions there during that time.

Thank you CR Resort Fan 4 Life, we received a 40% off Pin code & moved from the WL Woods view to a Contemporary Bay Lake Tower View for our first time !! We have stayed twice now at WL, but never could afford a Tower Room at the Contemporary, so it is good to hear that there are no conventions during that time of year !!!

You're welcome and just so you know that's been my experience not seeing conventions taking place during that time, because I have no idea if it will be like that this year. However on the off chance there is one taking place you won't notice them unless you are walking along the 2nd floor or the actual convention center. So I don't think they make a difference in general when one is taking place, because the Contemporary always guests a lot of people who go there just to eat and to look around.

Now the only time I ever noticed a convention crowd making a difference was a few years ago when people from Raymond James were having a huge convention there, because they brought their families and when they went to check-in the line in the lobby was almost out the door. Thankfully we had arrived a few days before.

I would say it takes about 20 - 25 minutes, but you also have to take into account that the Monorail might need to stop on the track for 1 - 2 minutes because there is one Monorail ahead at the station it's going to.

Also here are links to YouTube videos of the Resort Monorail going from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom so you can see how long it takes at each stop and hopefully these will help you.

Thanks CR ! I meant to thank you earlier but life got in the way of my Dis'ing . :goodvibes

Yeah I do think I will end up walking to the Mk and going the monorail back.

Btw I dont know if you remember me mentioning my fear of heights but I was in a doctors office building the other day on the 6th floor and said to my son ( Who used to also hate heights intil he decided he wanted to go to the CR ! lol) " Wow this is how we will be at the CR . " I was .. ok . I was a bit on edge at first but took some deep breaths . I think once I get the castle in my view I wont notice the heights so much either. Of course my son telling me to look up at the airplanes didnt help much either ! He had way to much fun teasing me I think. I did request 6th floor and odd numbered ( so we could see the castle from our bed ) so heres hoping !

You're welcome and yes I remember you mentioning the fact you don't like heights, so good luck with your request. :thumbsup2

Just for fun I was looking at the WDW website under the 40% room only promotion and for regular room only reservations without any type of discounts. Well for the dates I will be there next month which is August 10 - 20, it's 100% sold out since no room categories came up and it gave me the Polynesian or Bay Lake Tower as alternative choices to choose.

I am a monorail nut which is one of many reasons we stay at the CR every time. Probably my biggest problem with going to DHS and AK is the fact that I have to take the bus instead of the monorail. Would it make any sense at all to take the Monorail to Epcot and walk to DHS?

Personally I would just take the buses because they will be a lot faster. Also you can not walk from the Epcot to Hollywood Studios. You would need to enter Epcot and then leave from the International Gateway and walk by the Boardwalk to reach Hollywood Studios.
