I would call the Disney Reservations Center and make your request, this way the Cast Member at the Contemporary who does the room assignemnts before you arrive can see that and hopefully it will be able to happen.

I agree with CR Fan. As a TA, I always make sure to add all requests at the onset or have them added by a CM so that they are on the ressie when the hotel gets it. I would then reiterate your request when you check in. Hope this helps. Enjoy!!!!!

wow, thats not very much storage space for a room that holds 5 people, we are staying at the CR on August 19th for 10 nights for the first time, I have 2 adults and 3 teenagers and really like to fully unpack, with that little amount of space/drawers I can't see being able to completly unpack, you would think with a room that size and that they hold 5 people that they would have some sort of dresser.

Drawer space is always a "issue" for me (okay I OVERPACK :rotfl:). One thing I end up doing is hanging up a TON of stuff. I call down for a lot of extra hangers and hang up t-shirts, shorts, etc. :goodvibes

hi, ive just posted this on the DisAbility board and was wondering if anyone here could help?

Hi, its nearly a year until our holiday and i was close to...... :cool1:
We booked through a UK tour operator-Virgin holidays. This week they were trying to get our room booked as we needed a disabled room with a roll in shower. Weve booked a garden room (which is what we had the last couple of trips) at Disneys Contemporary resort hotel.
we got a phone call from Virgin to say that Disney have said they only do Disabled rooms in the deluxe part of the garden wing. Which is going to cost us an extra £500 approx $750 :scared1:

Weve booked exactly the same holiday as last time and we got a Disabled room in the garden wing. Ive even posted loads of pictures on another thread on here. :rotfl:

I just wanted to know if something has changed in the last year which i dont know about.
Im not happy that theyre trying to charge us more due to a disability

Thanks for any help in advance :goodvibes

Nothing has changed in gardenwing since last year. The "deluxe" room is probably the only room available to book in the gardenwing right now. It is more expensive than the regular rooms as it is larger - but a really nice room. Because the CR is a convention hotel, rooms are often held until they figure out the convention situation. We go every August (usually the last week) and usually stay at the CR or the BLT, and rooms are usually available by Feb/March for August. In the US, if you book with Disney, you can make changes to your package until 45 days prior with no penalties on the land portion. Not sure if this is the same situation in UK. I have clients ( I own a travel agency) that I have booked in a different room just to get space in the hotel of their choice, then as rooms became available, changed the room to whatever category they want. Also, please know that disabled rooms do not cost more than regular rooms. :goodvibes

Agreed!! I don't know what they were thinking when they made those renovations a couple years back:confused3 (it seems as though they decided to gear more towards "conventioneers" as opposed to "family")??:sad2: My husband prefers to "live" out of his suitcase... we put his suitcase in the corner so it's out of the way. You may need to hang up a lot of your clothes if you don't want suitcases out.
Minus the storage issue (which is unfortunately a big issue)...you will love the CR!! Oh the convenience!! Food and shops centrally located! We love it!! We now stay at the BLT next door, but walk the quick trip over to the CR for everything (.... thankfully they allotted for plenty of drawer space in the rooms at the BLT)!! ;)Enjoy your trip!!:thumbsup2

Don't underestimate the size of those drawers in the desk area. They are long and deep!

Also, that 2nd closet with the double hanging area can hold ALOT of stuff. I pack tons of extra wire hangers (ie the kind from the drycleaners) since they weigh next to nothing. I hang almost everything (shorts, shirts, dresses) and leave the drawer space for socks, underwear etc.

The hardest storage part for my family is the bathroom. So we use the second sink as a storage area (as well as the shelf under the sinks)

I agree with everything you said.

I think the thing is we need a room with a roll in shower.
Disney say they dont do these in the garden room-standard view. :confused3
weve booked the same package holiday as before, not sure who's changed the way they do things.
thanks for your reply.xx :goodvibes

We may just end up getting the basic room, is this much smaller than the other rooms.
Does anyone have any pictures of the basic rooms? Ive got pictures from my last trip and the rooms are the same as the ones at the start of this thread.

Thanks MrsBlovesdisney,
I'm sure we will have a great time and if storage space is all we have to worry about in this life then we have it good:goodvibes can't wait until my first ever stay at CR:goodvibes

Can someone tell me how much drawer space there is at CR???? This will be our first stay there. It will be me, my daughter & her teenage son & 8 yr old daughter & one of my other grandsons age 9yrs. I know the drawer space at POP was really lacking for 4 people & can't remember how much space we had @ POR with the 5 of us. I have one of those 'things' that you can hang on a closet rod for sweater storage I think. Was thinking about bringing that & using it to hold my clothes or maybe doing as someone has suggested about putting the younger kids daily outfits in large plastic bags & stacking them in the hanging thing. It has 6 or 7 shelves. Am so looking forward to the monorail convenience on our upcoming trip. TIA

OP here, now I am a little confused :confused3 after seeing the pics & reading the replies (which I greatly appreciate) We booked just a regular standard room, no special requests, how many closets are there in the standard room???? 1 or 3??? If there are 3 I don't see us having a storage problem, lol. Myself & the 2 boys are light packers, no unnecessary items. We always have the over door shoe pocket organizer for the bathroom & it's always full with dd's stuff. Does CR have the little extractable clothesline in the tub area?? That's where we usually hang the wet stuff.

There are the two closets in the hallway where you walk-in, along with the drawers by the TV and the ones located by one of the beds.

No, the CR doesn't have the clothesline. I lay damp items on the chairs/table out on the balcony. You can also hang damp items on the rungs of the ladder-style towel holder on the wall in the bathroom.

All the photos are of a standard room. Std. rooms in the Tower and GW are identical. Sorry, but no rooms have 3 closets.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but what is the storage like in the living area of a 1 BR at BLT? Any drawers? Maybe a closet separate from the bedroom?

Thanks!

Well 1 closet or 3, we will survive. Heck, I could pack my clothes for the 5 days in a clothes basket & be ok. :rotfl: I can hardly wait. 33 more days :banana:

In the living room, there are drawers underneath the TV. There is also a closet:

We stayed in the garden wing in December (2 adults, 3 young children). I really would have liked more storage space for clothes (I'm one of those people who has to unpack and put everything away). It wasn't a deal breaker or anything (we had a great trip and loved the convenience of the Contemporary). We're staying at BLT in January but if I were to stay in a regular room again, I might pack some collapsable storage or one of those clothing storage things that hangs in the closet.

Question we are staying at the CR in teh Atrium Club and I want to bring a birthday basket with me to put in the room for my DD while we are in the parks. The IPO said that the Concierge will do this for me, but will they also order some balloons from the Disney Florist to go along with it? How would payment for the balloons work? Do they just add it to your romm charge? Sorry to ask silly questions but I am all new to this, I'm used to just doing everything myself. Thanks!! :cutie:

hi,

weve usually stay in the garden wing.
I know on the WDW site they have split the rooms into different categories.

Does anyone know how long ago this was done?

The 3 categories i would like more info on are
garden wing-standard view
garden wing-garden view
garden wing-deluxe view

I can tell what the standard/garden view rooms are like, its the deluxe room im confused about.

Thanks for any help :goodvibes

We are going to DWorld for Christmas this year and we are staying in the bay lake tower one room suites. What is the best way to ensure we get a good room with a view without having to pay for it when we check in? Our reservations have been made but I am thinking they just assign us a room when we get there.

Thanks in advance for your help!
