~*~The After-Twilight Bookclub!!!~*~

well, the biggie fanfic, wide awake, will most likely get published and all the character names will then have to be changed. for a reader, though, it is an amazing story, if it wasn't over 600 pages i'd print it and mail it to you!

i loved the host as well. it took my a while to get into it, but in the end i was very satified with it.

i was able to get PRETTIES and EXTRAS from the library and they had SPECIALS on their 'for sale' table. in fact i bought an armload of books for $6.00! i love when that happens!

*sigh* I need to read it.. I know I do. :surfweb:

As for Extra's...... It's different than the other three. It's the same "Universe" but it isn't the same characters. The book takes place several years after the end of the "trilogy."

I listened to just the first part of Extra's and where as Uglies read like an adult book with characters who happen to be teenagers, Extra's reads like book about and for teeny-boppers. The interesting thing is the appearance of a"Twitter" concept in the book before twitter appeared in the main stream.

Borders just called. They have Frostbite!

WOO HOO! looking forward to your review.

I put "My Sister's Keeper" and "The Luxe" on hold at the library to pick up tomorrow. I may also pick up the first Gossip Girl book. I haven't ever watched the show, but it sounds interesting. Has anyone read these books? No supernatural business, but I hope they're good!

Luxe was on the "if you liked A Great and Terrible Beauty" list and I rented it from the library but never began it. You'l have to let me know what you thought!

In terms of similar cover art I've got this one on my to-read list: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2248164.Bewitching_Season

of course as I was looking at the book above I "heard" that this one was better.. and it sounds it:

Thanks for the info. I loved a Great and Terrible Beauty! I just started My Sister's Keeper, but I don't think it will take long to finish. I will update as I finish each one.

I finished the first Maximum Ride book about 2 wks ago and I'm still waiting on the second book from the library. :headache:

I never thought Russian men could be this sexy...

I've always had a weird obsession with Russia, I think it's about to come back...

There are a couple of Russian (et al) patients at my work that I have thought were sexy. And now... I've Dimitri-fied them in my mind and so ohh la la they don't know the fantasies I harbor about them as I pick their teeth. ::teeth::

You could always substitue some dis term or another! Bring it on!

Yes, I just got a ton of new books and I'm reading away. Just finished the new Patricia Briggs one and thought I'd start on the vampire academy ones. :)

I also had to clean my office closet where my paper back bookshelves are when my power was out for an hour earlier this week and found about 12 paper backs that I haven't read yet.

After Twilight I read the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series, my favorite, I like them better than Twilight actually. I also like the Anita Blake books, I am on Blue Moon right now. I am not sure if everyone on this thread is an adult or a teen. These are all adult reads. I got the Vampire Diaries b/c I heard it is going to be a TV show but haven't read it yet. I am re reading Dead in Dallas before True Blood comes back on. Another great website is Shelfari.com, sounds similiar to the other posted. I am also reading Dead Witch Walking which is ok so far but not holding my attention like it should. I want to read the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger or something like that. I keep telling myself I have to finish a series before I get into a new one. I really need a Kindle LOL.

I thinks you're gonna like it :thumbsup2

I liked Dead Witch Walking BUT.... I agree.. the plot was a little bit boring(ish). I thought the characters were fun but the plot kept getting in the way WHICH probably shouldn't be the overall "Feel" of a good book, right? lol

Interesting about the VA series... very interesting. It has some servant/caste themes that don't sit very comfortably with me ... Not to mention the student/teacher thing. I'm not sure how that'll go over. :rolleyes1

The black dagger was "eh" for me but I have to admit I didn't finish it. Phury, Rhage, Vichious, and all the rest will have to do without me. Yes, those are their names. True story.

I disagree about finishing a series before the next. If a series is really good (for you) then you'll want to finish it... naturally.. ya know? I'm just talking about my personal experience but I've been on sort of a dud-run lately so I'm sorta ticked. LOL

Anyway, WELCOME! And, no offense to the teens (I love their books) but I hope this is an adult thread. But we're dis-dults, so I suppose in the end there isn't a WHOLE lot of differnece, right?

I'll join. Can't read anything recreational until next Wednesday when my LAST law school final EVER is over!!! But after that I will need the occasional break from bar review materials.

Welcome to the goodreads site as well!

there are not enough dis friendly terms to explain that week. but i will say that there is something super sexy about having a wild affair with a gorgeous guy who didn't speak a word of english. sadly it ended with him hiring a translator to ask me to stay with him, i just could not do that.

maybe i should write a B & E fanfic based on it.

as for putting it on facebook, well, too many people there would read stuff i'd rather keep with my 'unknown friends' lol

I would suggest Blood and Chocolate or The Summoning but nothing could beat Twilight.

Welcome to the goodreads site as well!

Thanks! Well, I blew through My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Here is the review I posted on goodreads:

"I really enjoyed this book. It is hard to describe without giving away any important plot points, but the characters are all interesting. Some seemed a little cliche, but overall I enjoyed how the book was narrated by several different people. This can cause problems if you are speed reading like me and forget to check the chapter heading to see who is narrating, lol. I finished this book in a little over 24 hours. It was very hard to put down. I am still struggling with the overall feelings that the book left me with. It is a very interesting moral dilemma and it was also interesting from a legal standpoint."

On a side note, I am interested to see the movie version coming out later this summer. Next up--The Luxe.

Also--I am dying for the next Sookie book to come out!!

Well, I just finished reading Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce. She is one of my favorite writers. This book is part of her Beka Cooper series. It is set in her Tortall Series of books. I find the lead character in the series Beka likeable. What I like about Ms. Pierce's writing is her female characters are strong and likeable woman.
