The Adventurosity Club

Wow! How lucky you are Ann. :worship:
My dream job at WDW is to work in the Fireworks Dept.

Oh, and Brad, he was the most humble guy too. He said that Fireworks Castmembers have to wear two forms of ID in the parks for the extra security. He was the one that I had to hug as I left (and the Nemo Production Castmember). Just sweet people with the same love of Disney we all have!!!

I was getting the kids ready for their busses today and I had a small tv in the kitchen on. :happytv:

Well, I heard the reporter asking other reporters what their favorite thing at a Disney park is.......talking about Disney in the morning and not on a Disney owned channel??? I looked over and Goofy was behind him! :goofy:

I thought maybe they were promoting Disney on Ice or something. Kids go off to school and I start my internet search to see what was going on. Ended up having to call the station. No info on station's site. The newsroom said, "It's some Celebration tour." I got as much information as they had (which wasn't much). Then went to check out Disney and yup....confirmed. :surfweb: pixiedust:

My day changed in an instant. I actually was going to get the kids out of school. But I wasn't sure how it was going to pan out so I left them at school. :teacher: My wonderful husband was working at home and thought I was NUTS! He said, "So....you are going to hang out with all the 4 year olds?" I answered, "and one 46 year old." I couldn't go with just anyone .... so I went alone. And thoroughly enjoyed myself! :yay:

Groups of Castmembers handing out Mickey balloons and an invitation to get ready to celebrate with a code for a free digital gift. I think though that anyone can enter but just once a day. Not sure that you need any special invitation. The digital gift was wallpaper and a Goofy and Mickey paper cut out craft thingie. Very cute. :mickeyjum

Some of the Castmembers were locals from the Disney Store and then there were the "real" ones from Disney itself. LOVED THAT! I actually hugged two goodbye as I just felt kinda close to Disney just having them there. :grouphug:

One man worked in the Fireworks department.....actually prepares the shows!! So I told him I would be there for News Year's Eve and asked which one we should go to....he suggested Epcot's! We talked about more opportunity to see the show too. I got to tell him how much I loved "Go the Distance" and how much it inspires me as we talked about the Wishes display. :tink: Just as we were talking THE song played on their sound system! Loved the insider info from him!

Then, as if I had asked to meet her, I asked a woman what she did for Disney. She was the one who told me she was a Production Manager for the stage shows. I actually kindof shook as I asked, "Do you mean you have a connection to Finding Nemo The Musical?" YUP! She actually helped stage and get it started. OH MY GOSH!!! I got to tell her that I was so obessed with that show that I saw it four times and my family stopped going with me. I told her about my love of Crush and found out which Crush I saw and how I sent him a copy of his show for his family....and, I am SURE I came off like a stalking Disney freak. :fish:

But, I AM! So she just got to know me! She asked for my name and address because she had never met anyone with such "enthusiasm" for Disney before. Don't know what she wanted it for - I just loved that a 30 year Castmember saw my love of Disney and wasn't scared off by it.....or maybe she was??? And wanted my address for security purposes??? :rotfl:

pixiedust:Thanks for asking Marshay! I am just busting with this today! Like I said, I know I wasn't at a Disney park, but I really did feel the magic today! pixiedust:

I was laughing out loud reading this. I can SO relate to the Disney stalker. What a fun and exciting day! You MUST let us know if the cast member sends you something (I'm betting the grocery $$-and that's a LOT these days) that she's going to send you something fun.

When we took our last Disney cruise Katie had a neat experience with a new friend (met her family through the Disboard) and a pin trading CM. The girls were asked for their cabin #'s and the next morning a pin showed up in our cabin. :yay: That's totally going to be you. I think we should give opinions on what you are going to get. I think that you'll get a certificate for VIP seating for Finding Nemo the next time you are at WDW. Anyone else want to guess?

We haven't seen Finding Nemo, and won't this trip either as we only have 4 days and will do 2 at Epcot and 2 at MK unless Balloon Guy & family decide to do only one at MK then we'll likely do AK.

Well, we're off to Pittsburgh tomorrow for a bit of shopping. I wish I would have contacted Justin to see if he could have possibly met us for a beverage or dinner.

I'm still lurking (and unpacking). Will it ever end?

I entered the WDW Mom's panel contest and didn't make it past the first round. I thought fondly of all of us many months ago when we were getting aquainted through another Disney contest. I was bummed that I didn't make it past the 1st round. I may have been tripped up by the "I didn't read all of the rules" trap like several were with the CMO contest. It said you had to have been to WDW once in the last 12 months. I was there 12 months and 5 days prior to the contest. Or, it could have been that my answers were terrible. I don't know which would be worse. LOL!

Suz D

Okay, I'm such a dork. Of course I didn't read on before I posted. Marshay, you and I are betting the same thing!

Hey Suz!

Yeah, I'm just assuming it is something Nemo related...esp if Ann told the CM that she would be back soon.

OH SUZ, GO SEE NEMO!!! Take Balloon guy et al and run to it!
Maybe because I am a Disney AND Broadway freak.....but this show is perfect for all ages. Really. You can catch most of it on YouTube and the colors, staging, voices and music are sooooo fantastic. The people who wrote Avenue Q wrote it. Even my non-Disney fanatic husband loved it.
And there is a secret entrance to good seats...bear right at the fork as others head straight to the theater entrance. You go right and tell them you are going to the bathroom area, use the bathroom so as not to be lying, and enter the theater from that far side. I sat up front every time (except the first time cause I hadn't figured it out yet).
LOVED IT! You probably are not getting park hoppers though....but Suz, honestly, it really is THAT good.

With regard to the production manager.....I know it sounds odd, but having her just ask, well, it really feels like an "it's the thought that counts" kinda moment.....you know? I just felt so very validated by her, she really got how much Disney means to me!

Hey Suz!

Yeah, I'm just assuming it is something Nemo related...esp if Ann told the CM that she would be back soon.

Just loving that I had this place to come and share.....you all sooooo understand how much fun it all was. I will come here first if I get anything at all!

Going off to Kings Dominion area today.......doing the park tomorrow.

Amy, remember I will be waving from the top of the Drop Tower.....I will be the one in the blue shirt on just so you know! ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!!! :grouphug:

p.s. MadBrad, still waiting to hear about your trip and isn't someone else going in the next week? KigerKat?

Can you believe we'll be in Ashland.....3 miles from the park? Soccer game of course! We'll be waving!

Yesterday in the middle of dance class I walked over to the stereo just in time to see that I had received a text message. So I looked....always worried that something has happened to my kids......but the message said, "Call when you can...I need to talk to you about Disney!" It's an out of town area code and a number that I don't recognize at all. So I wonder...and wonder.....and wonder who it was. Could it be our CM friend Bill from Disney? Naw....he's older and although he uses a cell phone I just don't think he's savvy enough to text message. But it COULD be him? Wait....maybe it's AnnDisneyFan or Cat or CircusGirl? It wouldn't be Justin, but I guess it COULD be. Maybe it's Mr. Autopia? He's called me a couple of times at home and I wouldn't be totally shocked if it was him.

Wait

I know. (I'm having Ann & Cat syndrome now) It's actually DISNEY WORLD and they want to offer us something based on Eric's entry video? (clearly I dismissed that option quickly....but in honor of Ann & Cat and those of us who never stop thinking that there was clearly a mistake in all the Disney contests we've entered I just wanted to mention that) ;)

Finally I get my assistant to cover my class for a minute and go to my office to return the phone call....not knowing WHO I'm actually calling. My heart is racing with excitement....and fear that it's just a DVC representative following up on our interest in joining. Well here it goes.....ring....ring.....ring.....

Hello?
Hi! Who is this?
Jackie
Who? (I'm quickly cross referencing my Disboard friend's screen names with their real ones and not making a match)
Jackie!
Who? OH JACKIE! (my best friend from high school......jeez I feel like a dork)

So, come to find out that she and her extended family are planning their first trip to Disney and needed some advice.
At first I was disappointed that there was not big grand prize that I had won....or an update from our treasured CM friend......or a delayed interest in Eric's entry, or my Mom's panel entry....but then the magic happened.

I started talking...a mile a minute....that's the way I talk when I get excited! Plus I have to talk fast because someone in our family is bound to interrupt me. But I told her about the Passporter, Park Hopper passes, waterparks, Downtown Disney (she didn't even know it existed :sad2: ) priority seating, fast passes, and the list went on and on. I was so excited for her and to help her plan a fun event for her family will surely be great medicine for my own Disney withdrawal. And hey, I offered to be her Disney guide...but so far no interest.

Anyway....just my little Disney tidbit for the day. Have a good one friends!

AMY, MY HEART WAS POUNDING JUST READING ABOUT YOUR CALL!!!!

Disney Denial is very very real people! I still feel that if we keep spreading the word about our little familly....they WILL find us!

Amy, I cannot believe we will be that close and not able to get together....:sad1: Courtyard Richmond North in Glen Allen - if you get too tired to drive back come pack in with us!!!! :grouphug:

Have fun Cat and Timothy!

Ann - What a great story! You got to have a day of Disney immersion!

Amy - Another great and funny story! Your friend was very wise to contact you for help. They will have such a better time with your expert advice, and it is almost as much fun to help other people plan as it is to plan your own trip.

Suz - Good to hear from you! The moving thing DOES end. I promise. It just seems endless now. It will feel so incredibly great when you finish and are all settled in.

Another DIS-meet!

Tim and Cat meet at Aggieland!

We had a nice visit, and a yummy lunch!

Here we are, along with Tim's son. He wants to come to A&M next year - yay!

Amy -- so cool to hear from an old friend, and esp to talk Disney with them. I'm sure like most of us, once you get us talking about Disney, we can't stop. It is so good that they are asking for advice -- as first-timers, I can't imagine going w/o educating yourselves.

I had someone ask me recently if it makes sense to Honeymoon for 7 days and go to BOTH disney and universal during that time. They like amusement parks but haven't been to either.

Know what my answer was? Yes, this is coming from a Disneyphile...skip them both and go enjoy your honeymoon on a beach somewhere. Then go back to Disney for another vacation and choose either WDW or Univ.

I just figured there is simply too much to see and do and esp to learn as a first-timer...that they shouldn't worry about that on their honeymoon. I know how intensive but fun it is to plan for a regular vacation ... I can't imagine doing a full wedding locally and then flying out to Disney too...esp if you've never been to WDW before.

It was great fun. :cheer2: Of course (as mentioned on the last page) it's fun to explain to your son not to meet people on the internet and then take him out of town and meet one of your friend's from the internet! But Cat actually made a positive impression and the old man isn't too crazy... We had a nice visit and got the tour of Bryan/College Station in the convertible! Aggies lost the football game Saturday :( but they put up a great fight and it was great college football atmosphere.

By the way, I forgot to put on the sunscreen so I look and feel great today with my raccoon eyes created by the sunglasses!!!

Anyways, you couldn't meet a nicer person, so try to make it out to College Station to meet our very own Cat! Or better yet, schedule your next Disney trip with her, I hear she's returning to DW soon!

For my scrapbooking pals...

Here are the pages I did from our Sept 2007 trip. I just got caught up to start working on them!

I decided to play on the "trip of a lifetime" theme and make it suitable for DVC!

And DD's first haircut

The Eeyore page is actually what I made for my DD to use for Show and Tell using the Letter "E" (I'm trying to do a Disney theme for each letter). Once I started working on the page for her preschool, I realized I could just go ahead and make the full scrapbook page. So I have one page done from our May 2008 trip!

I love those pages Marshay!! I think the first one is my favorite!! I did a mini album from our last trip but I really need to get to work on the full size one!!

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to make my first DVC page extra special so added some extra touches to that page. I'm just excited to get started on the trip pages!!

I love those pages! I so need to catch up on my scrapbooking! Your DD is just adorable. I don't think I knew her name before now.

Cat & TTL, how fun that you met in person. I have no doubt that Cat made a good impression (on a very tough sell-a pre-college age guy). She's a dynamo!

Marshay, love the layouts. Especially Eeyore. We're really on a Pooh kick here.

Amy, the story was terrific. I, too was holding my breath in anticipation. I didn't know you tried for the Mom's panel. Did you make it past the first round? I'm definately entering again next year. I had a perfect answer for my "tip" and forgot it at the last minute and used a really lame one. I actually wasn't terribly surprised that I didn't advance.

Is anyone here really into Disney podcasts? We listen to them all the time. It gives us a small "fix" for our Disney addiction.

Suz D

I entered the mom's panel too! I didn't advance either though. I was a little sad but not nearly as invested emotionally in this contest as the CMO.:guilty:

So I would have loved to advance but I knew with 10,000 entries to read, the odds were small. I wish someone who advanced would post their answers somewhere. Or maybe pm them to us if they can't post them? :)

I would like to have a better idea of what they were looking for so I'll know next year.
