The Adventurosity Club

Oh, DISGeeks -- how are you doing with All-day Kindergarten???

My DD starts Pre-school next week (2x/wk for 3.5 hours) and I'm already both looking forward to it and dreading it. It's convenient so I can make all my doc appts w/o her but I will also miss her and we won't be able to do the music/gym classes together anymore.

I saw that Family Fun idea about the group breakfast before school and thought that was a wonderful idea too! Good job!

I've been doing surprisingly well. (Thanks for asking! :) )

Of course, it probably helps that DD seems to enjoy school, and I still have my little guy at home to keep me company! It also probably makes a difference that the teachers haven't yet started to assign homework. (Yes! There's homework in all-day Kindergarten!) I've heard horror stories about Kindergarteners returning home from school as tired zombies, demanding "cave time," completing their homework, eating dinner, then crashing for the night. Later, Rinse, Repeat... Fortunately, we haven't yet experienced that heartbreaking cycle. I still feel like I get to spend some time with my little girl.

Bottom line: Ask me again once the novelty wears off!

I've actually enrolled DS in a two-hour, twice-a-week preschool program so that I'm freed up to volunteer once a week in DD's classroom. I know he'll enjoy it, because he's a pretty social guy. Still, it's sort of bittersweet for me.

Everyone who is going to Disney -- YEAH FOR YOU!!! I hope you all can meet up someway, somehow.

DD asked me the other day, "when are we going back to Disney World?"

I asked her, "when do you want to go?"

She replied, "this afternoon."

A daughter after my own heart!!!

Ahhh! Ya 'gotta love kids!

My cousin called last night to inform us that she got engaged during Labor Day weekend. (She also asked DD to be a flower girl.) As I was prepping DD for bed, I started describing the anticipated wedding events and detailing her flower-girl "duties."

I mentioned that, the eve of the wedding, most couples have a rehearsal followed by a fancy dinner. She paused for a moment, then replied, "I'd like it to be at Chuck E. Cheese!" Ummmmm! Sorry sweetheart, but... Since when has Chuck E. Cheese become a fine dining establishment?!? :teeth:

So DisGeeks,

How was the marathon?

It was mostly fun, but pretty humid! (And, I probably should have trained more... :rolleyes1 ) I did finish the half marathon a few minutes faster than last year, though, which is cool! (Thanks for asking. :) )

'Just for kicks...

Overheard on the Race Course ("Quoteables”):

*Between the third and fourth mile markers, some guy shouted, “Does anybody have a Segway?” (HA! Now that you mention it: I’ll take one of those, too, please!)

*Right before mile eight, I passed a group of women joggers and overheard one trying to keep the conversation lively with a getting-to-know-you question:

-“If you could be anyone in history, who would it be?”
-“Anne Boleyn,” her friend answered without hesitation. (Ummmm! Wasn’t she beheaded by her husband? Of course, by mile eight, maybe such a swift end seems pretty appealing… )

*Somewhere near the Boardwalk (in the final stretch, after mile 10), a guy asked his female companion, “Do you think they’d mind if we cut through here?” -- meaning let’s take a shortcut that would shave off a mile or two of the race. (Yep! They'd probably mind! Very tempting, though! I’m totally with ‘ya, buddy!)

*Oh, and early in the race, I found myself jogging behind a couple that was sporting complimentary tee-shirts that read: His – “I asked her to marry me today.” Hers – “I said YES!!” The next day, I read a little "blurb" about them in the local newspaper. Pretty cool, huh?

Well, I think I'm now completely caught up on this thread. 'Sorry for all of the consecutive posts! (Now, I need to spend some time reading "We Be Trippin'." I've been such a slacker! )

thank you....thank you.....

I'm glad you remembered...I was afraid no one would get it. :)

How could anyone forget the Vanilla Caramel Coffee?!?!? :rotfl:

And I quote Mrs.F. ...

"Apparently I am not quite myself tonight. I would like to apologize for my behavior this evening. What I may interpret as "the art of dance" may offend...and perhaps scare some. (sorry tothesea) My vocal stylings are a bit rough as well, but I assure you that I will stop drinking my Vanilla Caramel coffee and actually get some sleep tonight." Now, does anyone have a Kleenex? My stock went bottoms up! :confused3

Which I think leads to this ...
Oh, MadBrad76 won! Awesome.... here's a victory dance for you....

Music picks up again

turning, turning, slide right, jump jump clap, wrist cross wrist cross and.........pose!

Ta-da!

Followed shortly by this ...
Oh, Tripp & BTM won! Awesome.... here's a victory dance for you....

Music picks up again

turning, turning, slide right, jump jump clap, wrist cross wrist cross and.........pose!

Ta-da!

And then this ...
I think I may have lost too much blood.... :upsidedow

Mrs.F. makes a suggestion that I give the Vanilla Caramel Coffee a try ...
I would prefer something not so strong. They might not like that while I'm at work. I'll have to settle for some coffee. :rotfl:

May I recommend a Vanilla Caramel coffee? It really "perks" you up!

Ann then steps in ...
PLEASE MRS. FLEAGLE PUT THE COFFEE DOWN SO NOONE WILL GET HURT........that's it.........good..........

Ann then decides to set Mrs.F. straight ...
MadBrad, I will be happy to get you the Vanilla Caramel coffee but the dancing banana has always seemed a teeny bit inappropriately suggestive in a way, and since you are at work and all, we wouldn't want any harassment issues to ..... arise.

Before signing off for the night, Mrs.F. warns HMF of the powers of the VCC ...
Thanks everyone.....way too much fun here tonight! I haven't laughed that much in a long time...especially at my own expense!

See you all tomorrow!

HMF.....stay away from the Vanilla Caramel coffee! It has a power all its own!

For any one who would like to relive the good old days, our introduction to Vanilla Caramel Coffee by Mrs.F. can be found here ... CMO Top 10 Announced, pg. 191, post #2857

Suz D - I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I would like to offer you a few hugs myself.

I hope you'll be able to enjoy your upcoming trip to WDW. If there is one thing that makes WDW so special to me it's that I can go there and leave all of my problems and worries at home.

DISgeeks - How's DD doing in Kindergarten? My DS has been in Kindergarten for about a month now. The kids in AL go to Kindergarten all day. He was excited to go at first, but I think that has worn off. He's been asking if he can stay at home now.

How's the bus riding working out? My DS wants to ride the bus, but I'm not sure how he'll do. I'm not even sure if there's any kids at his school that live in our neighborhood that ride the bus. It would actually work out better for us if DD would ride the bus since she has to be at school at 7:30. I guess she doesn't think it's cool if you ride the bus.

I'm in my final countdown to Disney! I have some very special guests for this trip, and they were kind enough to help me pack.

Circusgirl - It's good to see that you have some friends to keep you company on your trip to WDW. Be sure to bring back lots of pictures of ya'll having lots of fun! I hope you're able to dodge the bad weather while you're there. I don't know about you, but I've been checking the hurricane forcasts just about every hour. Here's a good site for you to keep a check on the weather ...NOAA

Wha? This little gem?!? (It took me a while to find it, btw...)

Perfect!! :lmao:

:rotfl: So far we've been able to avoid the Chuck E. Cheese place...but it's coming soon!

:jumping1: :jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:
:jumping1:HELLO FRIENDS!!!:jumping1:
:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

Amy, Cat, Tooth, DisG, Haunted, MadB........well, I am bound to miss someone unintentionally, so a very sincere hi to EVERYONE!!! :wave2:

Hello to you too! I sure have missed all of your jumping smilies!

I have really missed being here. My new business 'Metabolic Weigh' is taking off, slowly but surely. And, if you are wondering, opening up a weight loss support service and LOVING Chic-fil-a cookies and cream shakes has made for an interesting balance (gotta admit -- this summer though-- the shakes WON -- scale had been going in the WRONG direction -- working on that)! :upsidedow

I'm glad your business is getting off to a good start! I know what it's like to try to loose weight. I've been trying to do that for a while now with no luck at all. My eating habits haven't changed, but I my work habits have. I spend a lot more time sitting down in front of a computer instead of walking around the plant.

I am so happy to see all of the countdowns to Disney trips. How fun is that?! It always reminds me of why we showed up here in the first place. Our love of Disney! pixiedust:

Just 16 more days!!!

Guess what? We (DH, DD and DS and myself) are also going to Disney again - this time during the peakest of peak seasons - over Christmas (26th - 4th).....of course, my husband simply does not understand this obsession I have with going there again since we were just there last December.....HA! But you know what?? YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND!!! :goofy:

 Yay for Ann!!!

Ahhh...yes....I remember the "Wonder Fleagle!" Photoshop ain't got nothin' on me!!

Hey MadBrad!! Looks like we are on at the same time!! I'm always missing everyone...

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So today we went to my DD's PreSchool Open House to meet her new teacher -- this is the 3rd new teacher for the school year -- which hasn't even started yet.

And guess what? She doesn't show up. No one knows what happened to her.

This doesn't bode well...

Party! Party! I'm here too (although I'm leaving to go to the post office in a few minutes and then catching a plane for Vegas this evening. Going out to help Dad & Sis organize, sort, etc. my mom's things. Hard for Dad to have them around. I want to let him do things his way, but for me personally, I would want to have things around for a little while longer.)

David...I've been trying to catch up on posts. The Daniels family will keep Elizabeth in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted okay? If I've missed an update post already, please let me know. I'm still wading through pages and pages that I've missed.

Ann, I can't wait to hear about your Christmas plans! I definately want to connect with you while we're both there. It should be easy since we're both staying at POP.

Suz D

Hey Suz!!

Will you take me to Vegas with you? Heck, I'll even got to the post office for you, if you'll take me!!!

Good to hear from you!!
