I finally made it back here, almost 50 pages later! :faint: That really stinks that most of the family was sick during your trip. I have a stash of plastic bags in many places (car, desk at work, etc) just in case I get sick - I had walking pneumonia last summer and would be overcome by coughing fits then suddenly feel an urge to puke, so I learned to keep bags everywhere. The worst time I had to actually use it I was driving across the desert between Phoenix and LA at 80 mph, I mean 70 mph (or whatever the speed limit is) :rolleyes1, and it came on so fast there was no way I could pull over. Luckily I keep the plastic bags in the console next to the driver's seat.

I love the pictures of Germany, everything is just so cute! :goodvibes Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the trip, hopefully the sickness will be ending soon! I may not post often, but I will still be reading once in a while.

So glad you're back!!! Yikes!! Having to toss your cookies in inconvenient places is so awful! But I'd take private and inconvenient, over public and convenient anytime. Of course you weren't speeding... ;) :rotfl2:

Cute is a great word to use for the Bavarian countryside. :thumbsup2 And clean too!

I always enjoy your posts- come back often!!

Good call using the cab to get to the moose hotel.... I think the kids were tortured enough! :lmao:

So happy that at least one of your rooms was ready.... al least the kids had a space to themselves to errrrr handle their business. :rolleyes1

Great pics from around town! ::yes::

It was the right thing to do. :lmao: We aren't that cruel.

By the time we got back from our quick juant to "our first destination" our room was ready- so it really was no inconvenience.

Thanks! I think you'll like what's coming up...

Germany looks like it was so much fun Mom! but I have this horrible feeling that it's not going to compare to Cambodia....... ;) (I get to go to Cambodia next summer. provided I can get 1500 greenbacks from somewhere.)

Yay! You made it to the hotel, sick kids are in bed and you're off to see the sights. A vast improvement no matter how temporary it ends up being.

And I love your apron! I'm not so great at wearing them, liking the half ones better or not remembering to put one on until it's too late, but it's really pretty!

I'd wear it to make a pumpkin roll for sure! Which makes me want one.....

I guess I’ve left you all hanging long enough, and have found a few minutes to get on with this story. I need this TR writing therapy after a stressful visit to Zach’s endocrinologist; looks like he’ll be back on growth hormone again, and he is FAR, FAAAAAAAAAAAAR below what he should be in weight as well. Which means MORE appts. to the GI, more hassles with the insurance co., more missed school, and more money out the pocket. (Sorry, I don’t usually like to rant and bring ‘real life’ stuff onto here, as this is as much an escape for me, as I’m sure being on the DIS is for you.) So, onto better things...

FA is not just a long, long way to run, it's your next letter to locate. Who knows where this is in the World??

I know exactly where this is!!! :yay:

This is the Fairfax Fare Sign!!!

Liesa, looooove the pictures of Germany. The picture of the chandelier seems out of place for this hotel. Mackenzie wants one of those for her room (in Texas you've got to have a fan, so it won't work-can't say I'm all that broken up about it ), I'm kinda surprised to see it in this hotel since it's more of a teen girl thing.

Then again I haven't seen the room so maybe it goes with the decor. :confused3

Poor baby's going to sleep as soon as they hit the bed, I hope they felt better by the next day.

I think between your photos from Germany and photos Ty's put on her board, I really want to visit this country more and more! It just seems so quaint and very beautiful. When you mentioned clean I was sold! Sounds weird I know. Just chalk it up to one of my own quirks. "Every man had his own quirks and twists." -H.B.Stowe

So sorry to hear you angst about little man's appt., you know you can call me any time you need to talk or vent. My shoulder is a strong one and my ear is easily bent any time you need to bend it.

Beautiful pictures Liesa. I'm glad that you made it to the hotel without too much more puking. :sad1:

Germany looks so beautiful. I can't wait to hear more about your visit.

Sounds very stessful! But isn't your whole family rather skinny? So possibly his weight issue might not be that bad... But still of course something that has to be adressed if the doctor says so. And while it is stressful and expensive, it also confirms that your decision to come back was the right one, especially for Zach! :goodvibes

So, onto better things...

I found it: Fairfax Fare at the DHS, I hope you don't want to know wether it is the FA from Fairfax or the FA from Fare! I love the area! On my one very brief visit to LA, we went to the Farmers Market and I loved it there, I actually enjoyed LA much more than I ever thought I would! It is a bit unfair of you to post this just when Rosie leaves on her trip though, she really would have gotten this, since she loves this place. :goodvibes

The driver found it with no problems, and happily took our money- including the tip that we sure would have loved to hand back to him. Ah well, I guess that is how it is done…

No, it isn't!! But it is done differently anyway - you tell the driver the amount you want to pay including his tip, so if the fare would be 12 Euro and you would want to give hin one Euro tip, you would tell him when handing over the money "13 Euros" - same way in restaurants.

Wanna see our room?? Yeah, I thought so, check this out!

It looks like quite an individual place with the flowers and the chandellier! :goodvibes How was the bathroom? Do you think, it is a place that I can recommend in the future to visitors to Nuremberg? I really like its location!

I know this shop and never thought of it as a tourist attraction! :rotfl: Lovely picture of you!!

Until then, have a magical day!!!

Can't wait to read more!!

You had it right, it's called a pattern. :thumbsup2
My DH can figure those things out better than I can.
The very first costume I made my son (or should I say...I was going to make my son) when he was a baby, gave me such a hard time I had to ask for help on the darn pattern! My DH being the engineer that he is and not a teacher, decided to take over and cut it out and then proceeded to "help me" sew it too! Needless to say I was a bit upset, but it turned so well I didn't have the heart to say anything!
I then decided to make him a trick-or-treat bag and was able to make the hood part to the costume (DH didn't know it was also part of it-he he he), so I at least made part of it. Now when I can't figure out a pattern, I chuck it and wing it! :goodvibes The "Chuck it and Wing it" method works better for me any way. :rotfl:
Half the time the patterns aren't correct or don't make a lick of sense....or is that just me?!? :scared: :rotfl:

I guess it makes sense that your DH as engineer is good at sewing patterns, it is in the end one of the applications of geometry! :thumbsup2

What beautiful scenery in Germany. One day I'll get over there...

I hope you will and that you will get in touch when you come!!

I get to go to Cambodia next summer. provided I can get 1500 greenbacks from somewhere.

Wow, that sounds really impressive! I have a friend who went on a bike trip through Cambodia and absolutely fell in love with the country! I hope you will manage to get the funds. :thumbsup2

I think between your photos from Germany and photos Ty's put on her board, I really want to visit this country more and more!

Hi Camille, if you ever come to Germany, make sure to get in touch with me! :yay:

Okay, no wonder I'm struggling with this "letter game." You keep waiting until I've read the TR update and then sneak the contest in!!! :sad2:

And I actually (FINALLY) know this one! It is the sign in front of Fairfax Fare!

The relief that I feel for you over reaching the hotel room is palpable! :lmao:

Thank goodness. Poor kiddos. And poor mom and dad, too! Glad you got to enjoy a nice walk.

So I guess everyone else found the letter already. Boy, I suck at this game.

I find it odd to be reading a TR on the DISboards site and suddenly become overwhelmed with an urge to travel to Europe. :rotfl2: I love your pictures!

It must have been such a complete relief getting to the hotel. There is nothing worse than traveling when sick. Just awful.

The pictures remind me of my stay years ago in Germany. I loved the quaint rooms decorated so differently from American cookie cutter motels. The chandelier in particular is great.

Yarn porn. Such the wrong thing to show a knitter. It's making me terribly jealous. I want to go to Germany and go yarn shopping now.

Hello,
I'm joining in I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Magdalene a few weeks ago while in Nuremburg. Along with her sister Katharina in Berlin. Aren't they the two most lovely ladies ever?

Where did you fly into? Aren't the ICE trains awesome?? Were the pastries bought at a place called Ditsch? They had the best chocolate filled croissants!

Can't wait to see what your impression of Nuremburg are! We loved it and would love to return again someday.

Wendy

Nuremberg looks beautiful and your hotel looks like a great, local-type of place to see it from. Glad to see that you've made it that far in your journey.

Today's letter mystery is from the Fairfax Fare sign.

Just joining in. Thoroughly enjoying myself. I found your TR from a suggestion on Captain Obvious' TR. Can't wait to hear more. I also agree about the "Yarn Porn" being a knitter myself.

:rotfl: Don't you have yarn shops in the US? I can easily take pictures of more yarn shops (including the one in the house next to mine) if you would want to see them! :goodvibes

Hi Wendy, great to see you here! Thanks for the compliment which I can gie right back to you! :goodvibes

How funny that you bought croissants at Ditsch - they are usually known for their pretzels! ;)
