The 50,000 RR points on SWA is back :-)!!

That's pretty good. If I only planned on flying within the next few years. LOL

Can the points be used for anyone. Hubby doesn't fly but his girls do:thumbsup2 Can I put in his name and then book under his account flights for the girls and I?

Yes they can! I booked flights for my son and daughter in law with my husbands points! :thumbsup2

Since you get the 50,000 points, you can use all the points and are not limited to two flights. I have 3 round trip flights reserved for May 2012. If prices go down like the rates have for Jan and Feb, I could switch to get 5 roundtrip flights! Keeping my fingers crossed for this! My parents are going with us and I would really like to pay for their flights also. It would be much easier to do with free points. ;)

There is a $69 annual fee. You also have to pay up to $10 in taxes (depends on the airport) because of 9/11 security fees. So for 3 roundtrip tickets, I have spent $99 total. The flights are over $300 a piece, so I am saving $800 dollars!!!

I will be canceling the card after our trip.

I just booked 4 rt tickets PHL-MCO on my 50K pts. 9,900 each and I have 10,400 pts left....So the PP is absolutely correct - you can get as many flights as you have pts.

My fee for the card was either $89 or $99 - which still isn't too bad, when you consider what I got for it. The lower fee cards only gave 30,000 pts. So, unless it's a new offer, you might want to check the fee for that level card.

I have two questions about this promotion:

1. Is there a limit on the amount of applicants per household? Could my husband, 21 year old daughter, and I all apply?

2. Is there a time frame within which you have to use the reward points, eg: within 12 months, 24 months, etc?

Thank you!!

1. I don't think there is a limit. It just depends if you get approved or not.
2. Don't think these points expire but I could be wrong.

My husband and I both applied for the card and both applications were accepted. Unfortunately, I paid a $99 annual fee...the $69 one is a great deal. can you cancel the card as soon as you receive the points?

We did this offer earlier this year. It worked out to be a great deal for our upcoming trip. The two round trip ticket language is just an example. We were able to get $89 each way tickets which = 5,340 points. Round trip for 4 people - 8 one ways x 5,340 points = 42,720 points. So we were able to get round trip tickets for our whole family plus still have points left for another one way!:cool1:

One word of advice. Just make sure you apply early enough to be able to use the points. It does take a little time to get the points in your Rapid Rewards account.

We just got approved. I'm so excited about this deal b/c we missed it last time!

Another question if anyone can answer it: how much does the first purchase have to be to get the points and how quickly do I get the points? I want to use them for our March trip.

Re: the annual fee--there are different fees with different offers. My first offer was a Rapid Rewards member offer and was $69. I am pretty sure the offer today is $69, but even if it's $99--using those points is a huge savings for us!

There are no blackout dates.:thumbsup2 They can be used at any time, for any traveler. One thing I like about the points is if someone can't take the trip, the points go back into the point bank of whoever used their points for the flight. (If you PAY for flights, the flight is credited to the person that can no longer take the trip.)

I don't know how much the initial charge has to be. We used it for a couple of tanks of gas and then paid it off. Our points took about 6 weeks to show up (has to be through one billing cycle) from the time we made the first charge.

From what I understand, the points dont expire unless you don't use the card for 24 months or don't travel SW for 24 months or use one of their partners (like car rental/dining, etc). I honestly don't intend on having the card or points that long to find out. I will be canceling the cards after our trip in May.

ETA: I just checked the link and it does say its a $69 annual fee.
