Hi I've been looking into different diets searching for one that I can "do" and fits the way I live. This one looks interesting. The basics are you eat small relatively low calorie meals/snacks every 3 hours. This helps keep your metabolism moving. The inventor, Jorge Cruise was on the Today Show, because he is helping Al Roker lose about 20 lbs that he has put back on.

I've done Atkins in the past and lost about 25 lbs., but 4 years later I've put all that back on plus. Even though Atkins worked initially, I found it hard to "know" what to eat when I got hungry.

Anyway, I'm thinking of giving this 3-Hour thing a try and was wondering if anyone else has tried this diet?

A lot of diets actually suggest you eat several small meals throughout the day to keep yourself satisfied, and to keep your metabolism moving.

I've been hearing that more and more from all different sources, so I think that's the new diet thing going around-- I think it's a good idea. I like hearing it better than low-carb-- I like "balanced" a lot more than "low-carb"

Into my second week of the 3 hour diet. I gained 1 lb the first week so we will see what happens the second week. Isn't trying to drop those pounds soooooooooo much fun!

soo every three hours can you eat a piece of pizza... :) I HATE DIETING..and i hate it even more now that i am getting older and my body doesnt lose it as easy!!!! :scared:

I wouldn't feel so bad about gaining the pound if your were permitted to eat stuff like pizza every hour.

Breakfast - 400 cal.
snack - 100 cal.
lunch - 400 cal.
snack - 100 cal.
dinner - 400 cal.
treat - 50 cal can be eaten right after dinner if you wish

DH and I are doing something like that. He got the idea from the Body For Life book. I lost 7 pounds the first week. I haven't weighed this week yet. I'm trying not to get on the scales everyday. I just grab an apple or yogurt in between meals. I've been keeping my meals low fat.

It almost makes me cry every time I read about people dropping 7/8 lbs by doing the same thing that I am doing. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. The only way I have been able to drop any pounds is by strict fasting on the lemonade plan. After 15 days of that I had about enough! I may do that one again starting next week. Once I return from DW I think I will give Nutrisystem a shot. The cost is managable for me and I think I can't be trusted to provide my own food.

I have incorparated the 3 hour thing into my life. It is so hard though, the only way I am able to do it is while I am home and conciuos of it. My only problem is, I have live low carb lifestyle and would like to eat less fat but am so used to high fat foods! lol! I am torn! a yogurt sounds so good, so does fruit but I cant help but think every time i think about eating that how much carbs are in them!

perhaps, Ill experiment!

Have you ever had your thyroid checked? My Mom was the same way. She couldn't lose weight no matter how hard she tried. She finally went to the doctor and her thyroid was low. Getting that corrected...by taking med...she was able to lose weight alot easier.

Thought of that and it has been checked twice in the past two years as part of my normal physical. Both time is came back normal.

Monday probably back on the lemon aide diet. No food for about 15 days, drinking a mixture of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper at least 6 times a day. Cleans you out and actually by the fifth day I do end up feeling better then I normally do. It might be because I am delirious from lack of food! Really not a very good way to drop pounds but until I come up with the correct diet I will have to do it one more time prior to this trip in February.

Nutirsystem is looking better and better to me because of the cost and no guessing or measuring. Anyone have any experience with that one?

Cheryl..............

I have never heard of the Lemonade diet! but your post prompted me to look into it. You mentioned you did this before? How is it? I am curious.........
dont you get hungry? or does that combo of ingredients help one NOT be hungry? 15 days seem so long. can tell me a little more about it? thanks

renee :confused3

It's probably an insane and unhealthy thing to do yet I have done it a couple of times. Actually I don't get really hungry until the fifth day. Once I get past that I am usually fine. I drink laxative teas along with the "juice" but I don't get involved with the water and sea salt mixture, I almost died trying that once.

I usually end up feeling great while on the process. As I said earlier I might not really be feeling great it could be that I am going nuts due to lack of food. My skin appears to get clearer while on the juice too. I think I could go even longer then 15 days if I really wanted to but I usually try to plan these fasts around celebrations having to do with food. See even while on a fast I'm planning on what I will eat.

that is amazing! really! while I read more about it, it seems it is more about cleasing yourself! and getting back on food seems to be a big deal as well.
I just cant imagine NOT eating for that long of time. When I first read about it I instantly thought thats nuts! but its been around so long it must be okay!
I have no will power whats so ever! I am so tempted to do it but can already see myself not succeeding in it. And, I mean not just about will power but, thinking of my daily life and doing something like that doesnt seem doable!
I have four kids I have to feed three times a day, even if I dont eat with them, just preparing food for them, I always pick. I pick unintensionally out of habit. and ( this is a biggy) I work in a restaurant! my goodness, us waitress' look forward to our nightly meals sitting around the table talking. Please let me know if and when you decide if you are going to do this again. I may go for it and having someone else doing it may help!

thanks

Renee,

I think I am going to start up on it again Monday, January 01/23/06.

It is for cleansing and trying to get your body functions back on track. As I said I do end up feeling better once I get past the fifth day (that is the day that hunger pains bother me, some it is the thrid, some the sixth). The first day, if you are a coffee drinker the lack of caffine on that first day can put you out of commission!

Let me know if you want to join me on my quest for cleansing, we won't even talk about dropping any weight? We can support each other or go down together in a big ball of flame.

All a fast is going to do is kill your metabolism so when you start eating again (since you need to in order to LIVE!) you'll gain it all back plus more!

My metabolism has been dead for years. I need to get into a few summer things for this trip and this is the only way I drop any weight. Once I am back from my trip on the 20th I will attempt to put myself on a real diet where I get to even eat some food!

Second day of fast and I'm doing good, bounce in my step and very chipper! Yeah right!

hi cheryl!

OMG! good luck, your a brave one! lol. I have read more about it and am still looking into in other words, I am procrastinating! lol :goodvibes
Not sure I am quite deicated yet! please let me know how it works out for you. PM me if you can! I would love to hear from you and this experience.
