Dev had a great time! She looked so beautiful (of course, I'm biased though!) :) They did the after prom IHOP run and then went to a friends and played video games. Not quite what I envisioned but hey, at least they were safe and had fun! Devyn's date was a friend of hers as well. Much to mom's dismay.. he's such a nice kid. Oh well!

The girls looked like they had such a good time. I just love the color of Rae's dress! So so pretty!

Thank you!!! Rae went over to Aaron's after the dance and watched a movie.. She was home by 2:00...
You should post a picture of Devyn and her date. That would be awesome!

Thank you again.

Still so hard to believe they are so grown up now! It goes by way way too fast!

Was looking for a new TR to sub to and picked yours. I just read the whole thing and I have to say that you are off to a great start.

Your daughter and niece are adorable.

Very exciting that you are actually moving to Orlando. Have you firmed up you house purchasing plans?

Is there a reason your daughter is picking VCC over the University of Central Orlando? I only ask because I have college age sons (one is a freshman now and the other will be a senior next year) and I feel like I'm over my head with college decisions. I think the hospitality industry is certainly a great field to get into. I wish your daughter much success.

I thought I would die when they cancelled your hotel reservation. Never occurred to me that they actually run the credit the morning of the reservation. Good to know. Your upgraded hotel is really lovely. What an amazing bargain and makes perfect sense for a trip that is only part Disney.

Do all the high schools in Texas really have off the same week for spring break? It's pretty varied here in the NE.

I have never been to any of the states you drove through, so I enjoyed your drive, but not the traffic stops. :rotfl: Did you say you crossed a 20 mile bridge/tunnel? Curious about that as I live about three hours for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and have always had a fascination with bridges.

Sure! :) Here's a couple:

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

Thanks for choosing mine! :thumbsup2

We haven't made any house buying plans yet. We plan on renting for the first year and then once we get a feel of Orlando well know what to do.

The reason we are choosing VCC is because of out of state tuition, UoCF is really expensive for out of state students... Also, the program that she wants to go into VCC has the pre requisites for the program and if you graduate from VCC with an associates degree, they will automatically grandfather you into the Rosan School of Hospitality.:banana:
So that's our plan to attend VCC and hopefully grandfather into the School. Thanks!

You thought you nearly died, I thought I was going to just fall apart right there!!! What was I going to do, was my whole thought. Where were we going to stay... But boy did it turn out awesome for us... Lots of Magic...pixiedust: That cancellation of our reservations was one of the reasons I decided to post about them cancelling my reservation; because I too, didn't have any idea that they ran your credit card earlier in the day. That is so stupid... :headache::headache::headache:

I'm pretty sure that most of Texas either takes the 2nd or 3rd week of March for spring break!!! It's been that way since I was in school.

The 20 mile bridge is a bridge over the swamps of Louisiana, It's really cool, but it is 2 lane with speed limit of 55. No Fun!!! When I was really young I went up to DC and New York and Nigra Falls, but again, I was 3, 5 and 7... I don't remember any of it, so I have no idea about going through the Chesapeake Bay bridge... or any other bridges at that. But I will say these bridges were fabulous!!

Thanks for reading my Trip Report... It's been fun to relive the trip...:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Yes it really does! And thank you!! :) :)
Oh my goodness, it has been so busy around here. We had the senior mother/daughter mass at dd's high school yesterday. It was wonderful but at the same time it really hit me that this is really happening! Her last full day of school was Thursday and exams are Monday - Thursday of next week. Then the following Friday is graduation, house party on Saturday and by Sunday we are off to Florida for a family visit and WDW! :faint:

She has enrolled in Baton Rouge Community College and she will be going into the Entertainment Technology program. She was really involved in Drama and stage managing in high school and since the film industry is booming in Louisiana now, that is what she is hoping to get into!

That does sound like a great plan. I know a couple of years ago you could get houses in Orlando really really cheap because of the housing market. I'm not sure if that still holds true today. I remember seeing a thread a while back that $300K homes were going for like $100K. Sure wish we would have had the disposable income to take advantage of that!!!

Oh the Atchafalaya bridge really is a nice bridge except when you've sat on it for 2 hours in traffic :furious:

ahh - the old "out of state" tuition -should have known. Since I live in a small state with really only one school worth attending, I know the out of state tuition dilemma all too well.

How wonderful that VCC has that relationship with the Rosan School of Hospitality. Very interesting.

I'm sure you didn't go across the CBBT because it is about as East as you can get and connects this lonely area called the Delmarva peninsula (Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia) to Virginia beach and Norfolk. There is a huge naval base there.

Rae's been in lots of musical and Theatre shows. She was in HairSpray last year and this summer she's going to be in Legally Blonde. I can't wait.

We think that VCC is our best choice... The young lady that checked us in at our resort, did the same thing that Rae wants to do. She started at VCC and then Grandfathered into the Rosen SoH.. We spoke to her the next day and she gave Rae all kinds of great information on both school. She was more helpful then our tour of the school!!!

I love the long drives.. We have so much fun together.. I also love seeing the country!!! It's so beautiful..

Now that I’ve left my tummy over at ToT, it’s time for my favorite show…

After ToT the girls wanted Ice Cream, so off they went to get ice cream and I went to Beauty and the Beast to get really fabulous seat!!!!

120.jpg

If you’re not a fan of Beauty and the Beast show then you should just skip this installment… It will be full of pictures of the show.

I LOVE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!!

It’s my favorite movie and my favorite live performance in DW! I have it recorded several times from our past trips… I get very into the production and I just sit there on the edge of my seat pretending that I’m Belle, watching her every move… Singing along to the songs and reciting every word…

I just love the emotion that Belle gives through the whole show.

But…

I didn’t feel it in this show. Where was my Belle… :confused3:confused3

Now I’ve seen this show 5 or 6 times and I’ve never had a bad Belle… I think I’ve seen 4 different Belle’s… but this one takes the cake…

UGGGGGGGG, I was so let down. She was a plain Jane… No emotion.

But

On with the show...

Oh, I’m just so happy, I’ve seen my favorite show and Barbra loved it too.

We finished watching the show and it was getting time for the “Pixar Pals, Countdown to Fun!!!” which I haven’t seen.

Hummmmm,

I’m thinking back on all the parades that I’ve seen in DHS and my favorite Disney MGM Parade is “Star’s and Motor Cars Parade” I just loved that parade… I also like Block Party Bash, but I didn’t like that it wasn’t a parade, it was a party in sections, so you really missed out on parts of the party.

So once we left Belle, we were on our way to find a great spot for the parade…

As we’re walking down Sunset Boulevard, I saw Grandma, taking a siesta :lmao: isn’t she cute…
163.jpg

Rae wanted to go over and check on her, but I wouldn’t let her, she looked really comfy!!!

So we headed over to Hollywood Boulevard and..

My favorite spot was open!!!!! I was so excited; you know it’s the little things that make me so happy!!! So the girls plop down and we wait for the parade…

While Rae was taking pictures I went over to Min & Bill's Dockside Diner... I need another coke...
I think this is so cute...

While I was getting my coke the lady asked me, "Would you like a cookie?"

I said, "Yes, I would love one!" I started to pay her for it and she said no It's on me...

pixiedust:

A free Large Chocolate Chip Cookie!!!! Yum, Yum!!!

Cutie Pie!!!! I love the braid in her hair... Barbra did that while standing in ToT line.

Waiting on the Parade was lots of fun because they had everyone get up and do a "Flash Mob" kind of dancing in the streets.. It was really fun. I got most of it on video. But I have no idea how to post a video to my computer much less to a Trip Report... But it was lots of fun. Rae got up and danced. Barbra was enjoying just sitting and resting... I don't think she realize how much walking there is in DisneyWorld.
