Hi everyone,
First of all, I usually am just a lurker, but I am coming out of hiding because I want to thank everyone here for all the info I have learned over the years. Because of this list, we ended up having the most amazing trip anyone could ever hope for.

Upon arriving at the Beach Club a couple of weeks ago, we were presented with the most wonderful surprise anyone could ever receive. My sister and I were upgraded from a standard room to Club Level with a view of Stormalong Bay and the Boardwalk for our entire 11 night stay. Everyone we came across during our stay could not have been more friendly or helpful if they tried. During our entire trip, we had to keep pinching ourselves to make sure we were not dreaming. The Beach Club has always been our favourite resort but now we will never be able to stay anywhere else but the Beach Club!!!

Most importantly though, I have to mention that we met our own Fairy Godmother as we called her, also known as Teena. :flower3: Teena went out of her way to make this trip the best ever and seeing her smiling face every time we met her in the lobby made us feel so welcommed and almost like family. It was as if we were coming home every time we saw her. Our conversations were so interesting and we learned so much from her. The Beach Club is so very lucky to have someone like Teena to be greeting everyone as they enter the resort. It is so obvious that she loves her job and loves to put smiles on the guest's faces. Thank you Teena for being the wonderfully thoughtful and loving person you are.

Thanks for listening,
Debbie

Thanks for the review. I am hoping to feel the same way after our very first visit to the BC in May/June 2010.:thumbsup2

I look forward to meeting you too. Look for me in the BC lobby on Sundays and Mondays.

That's a really tough question and I wish I could give you a definitive answer. When people ask me what to pack for late November, December, January, February and March, I always tell them to pack for 80's, 70's, 60's and 50's. You never know. I've seen late November in the low 60's during the day and at night in the 50's ... blur!! But I've also sat at the Candlelight Processional and watched choir members faint from the heat in December at night. You really need to be prepared for everything!! That's the only bad thing about coming to WDW during these months. Even when you look at the extended forecast before you arrive, you have to keep in mind that we have water (which controls the weather) an hour away on each side of us. Those oceans constantly change the weather forecasts. Our forecasters are lucky to get it right 24 hours in advance. I'm so sorry I can't give you a better answer. My daughter and her boyfriend are heading here for two weeks in December and I told them to pack for HOT and COLD and everything inbetween. She's not happy with that but I reminded her about last year at the Candlelight Processional where we had on long jeans, sweatshirts and coats and hats and mittens and were still freezing and I also reminded her about two years ago at the same time when people were moaning about how hot it was (low 90's).

See you soon!

You are so right! DH and I went the first week of December in 2000. The weather was perfect, sunny and high in the low 80's every day. The Millennium Celebration and Candlelight Processional were awesome! So the next year we decided to take our grown DD's and my MIL for the week of Thanksgiving. The first day was beautiful, sunny and high in the 80"s. The rest of the week was rainy and highs around 60. We ended up buying tons of sweatshirts and even gloves. In the evenings you needed sweatshirts, jackets, and light gloves. That kind of burned us on going that time of year. Now we go in May, September, or October.

Hello, we are staying at the Yacht Club in a couple of weeks (arriving on 11/21). This is our first time staying anywhere near there. We have actually only stayed on resort property once before, and that was at one of the All Stars in 2002. This is also our first time using the DDP. Trying to plan this all out has been a little overwhelming, but fun! I have looked through the various replies on this thread, but I'm still struggling with a few items.
First, I was wondering if there is any place near the YC that you can get a decent breakfast (eggs, etc) by using a CS credit from the DDP? We are especially wondering if there is one that doesn't require going into the park because we are looking at doing it on the day that we depart, and won't have tickets for that day. I saw that Beaches and Cream used to have a breakfast, but I guess that they no longer do. Plus, it looked like they were TS, not CS. Is that all accurate? Any suggestions at all?
My other question, and I hope that it is okay to ask it here, is with regard to in-room celebrations. My DS is turning 10 a couple of days before we get there and we plan on celebrating his b-day there. We recently moved across the country (due to the Military) and he is struggling to find friends and says he doesn't want any party or celebration here, he just wants to celebrate it at DW. I was thinking that since we are staying at a DW resort, maybe we should take advantage of one of the b-day room decoration packages that they offer and really surprise him. We would probably be looking at the smaller Mickey's Birthday package. Has anyone done this? If so, did you think it was worth it? Any input would be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance for your help!!

While I can't speak to room celebrations, we were just there, and spent many mornings over at the Boardwalk Bakery, using our CS credits. They have egg croissant sandwiches, and lots of tasty baked items. They're also the earliest food source to open in the area; that we saw, at least.

BC Marketplace also serves egg and cheese croissants beginning at 7am. I think the BW Bakery is 6:30. Is that right, PaDisneyCouple?

There isn't anywhere in the Epcot resort areas to use a QS credit for something like a breakfast platter. I think the counter service place at the Dolphin offers more but you can't use credits there.

Yes, that's what we recall from late September/early October. Because we're early risers, BWB was the place for us. Plus, it gave us more time to eat before heading to am EMH at one of the parks (did am EMH 3 days during our stay).

From All Ears:

Says its from 9/09

Breakfast 7 - 11 a.m.

Ham and Cheese Omelet Croissant $5.99
Cheese Omelet Croissant $4.89
Made to Order Yogurt Parfait $4.49
Fresh Baked Pastries $2.19 - $3.59

Oh, and though we didn't buy any this trip, color us disappointed if they're getting rid of resort specific merchandise. Should've bought that BC shirt, even if it was an off shade of blue...

We love those yogurt parfaits from the Marketplace.

Count me in as another one disappointed as resort specific merchandise diminishes.:sad1:

Couple of disappointing things I've noticed during this trip:

-There's no more resort-specific merchandise in the gift shops. CM told me they are eliminating for all resorts.

-Looking over at the Boardwalk (as I type this) - the neon signs are almost all gone. The only ones left are Flying Fish and ESPN Zone. It seems less like a boardwalk and more just like a low-key restaurant area.

-There's no more classic cartoons channel on the TV cable. You have to go to the lobby to watch.

Still, it's my favorite place in all of WDW and I wouldn't stay anywhere else (without question).

I have on my an absolutely wonderful Beach Club zippered, hooded sweatshirt that I bought in the Beach Club Marketplace on October 24th. I love it and there were plenty of Beach Club items there 2 weeks ago

The only items they had left at Yacht Club were some XXL sweat pants and tank tops (marked as clearance). The CM said that once the floor items are gone, that's it.

I really wanted to buy a fleece. Oh well!

At least in some locations, if you know where to find it you might still be able to tune it in. Its on one of the channels in the 90s - 97 or 98 IIRC. But some TVs have it completely locked out.[/QUOTE]

This would be very disappointing to my kids, this is part of their "magic". They love coming back to the room and watching those cartoons. Why would they lock it?

We're staying at the BC next May/June and saw that the Epcot FW extra hours were posted. Question: Can we get back to the BC through the IG after the WS is closed?

Thanks,

:tink::tink:

EMH at Epcot are for the entire park, not just Future World. So if the regular closing is 9 then all of Epcot will close at 12. Of course as with any park during EMH only certain rides are open, not all.

I got back through the IG after EMH one night during our stay. We got into Soarin' right at 12 so it was around 12:30 or later by the time we were done. We walked through to the IG and saw nobody until we hit the bridge that would take us into France. It was kind of eerie, yet cool to have the place to ourselves! :thumbsup2

World Showcase never closes before Futureworld - and by extension, the International Gateway.

Technically, FW closes before WS every night - even on EMH nights. However, pretty much all of the main attractions in FW stay open until WS closes - its just the kiosks, snack carts, counter services, etc. close.

World Showcase opens LATER than FW (11am usually), but you can still enter through the IG...you are just directed to go directly to FW.

Anyone have photos of the Christmas Decorations at the Beach Club from this year. I'm sure that most of them are up or in the process of being put up right now. I can't wait for our upcoming trip. Only 17 days left.

When I left Saturday night, there were no Christmas decorations up at either Yacht or Beach yet.

HI - I am debating whether to stay at the Beach Club for New Years Eve next year. We are currently booked to stay there earlier in Dec before we go on a Disney cruise, and had planned to spend NYE with relatives at their villa.

Our relatives are no longer visting Orlando, so I am contemplating returning to Beach Club after the cruise to try and make NYE a bit special.

Our 2 sons will only be 3 and 6, and therefore we don't want to attempt to go to a crowded theme park, so we were wondering if anyone has ever been to BC for NYE, and do they do anything special for the children/families to make it a special night? We will unlikely ever get to WDW again for the holidays and wanted to make it as perfect as possible. :cloud9:

I quite like the idea of spending NYE on the beach watching a movie and hearing the Epcot fireworks - but do they even do that on NYE??

Many thanks for any info!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks. If all goes to plan, we will close out MK that night and then head over to Epcot via the monorail and hopefully be the only ones walking through the IG at midnight.:tink:
