OMG It took so long to trawl through these pages, but I've learnt sooo much and feel much more 'at home'. We originally were going to book Pop, then my husband said pay a bit more for a bit more. So we were going with CBR, however when the 4/3 was realised we couldn't get a preferred room anymore. So after studying DIS, (I should have a DisQualification!), I could not get past the board walk area. Finally after HOURS of deliberation I zeroed in on BeachClub, not sure why but we've decided resort instead of villas, despite the similar pricing. Anyhooo, thankyou everyone that has posted on this board. I will continue my study, and am so excited.:wave2:

Thanks for all the great info. First trip to bcv and Disney for me, dh, dd(almost 2), and her grandma. Staying in 1 bdrm starting 11/11/09-11/16/09.
Anyway I'm not sure we'll use our snack credits on ddp. What is available near beach club for snack credits. Anything that might work for breakfast?

Also I have a conference a few mornings at bw inn. How far is the walk over there? And of course any other helpful first timer hints!

We just got back from our stay at the BC and found that what is a snack other places is not a snack at Beaches & Cream.
For example, we had to pay oop for a chocolate milkshake @ Beaches and over at the BW Sweet Shop it was an official snack.

Actually I think they have a much better selection of snacks @ BW: you can get stuff at the BW Bakery (cupcakes, muffins, fruit tarts) and @ the Sweet Shop you can get ANYTHING in the fudge/chocolate case except a large rocky road.

We felt it was worth the very short walk to get to BW to get a wider selection on snacks. We ended up bringing home fudge to use as our last 8 snacks or so because we just couldn't eat any more!!!:lmao:
Good stuff!!!:goodvibes

Hi everyone....today I just switched out our CSR Ressie to BC for our upcoming December trip and we are all very excited about it. I booked us a standard Water/lake view. My DH would like a lake view and for me it really doesn't matter, so I am going to request lake view just for him, I know that there is no guarntees. Is there any specific area of the BC that I should book? and are all balconies full balconies or would I have to request that as well, we love to sit out on the balcony and enjoy a nice glass of wine after the kids go to bed. Thanks for any info that you can give me since this is our first time staying at this resort.

Thanks for your post about the BW area snacks. It is so hard to find factual information on what is and what is not a snack. Any other food facts/suggestions for around the BC area would be great!

Does anyone know if the BC/SAB activities schedule is posted on line anywhere? I hve been searching for this information for months and cannot find anything!:confused3

Thanks

Thank you for the BW area snack information. It is nice to have factual information about where to get good snacks while staying at the BCV! Any other food tips for future BCV stay on the DP?

Does anyone know if the activities schedule is posted on line? I cannot find this information anywhere. :confused3

Okay, I'm giving up and asking... I've looked and looked but can't find any pictures of the renovated YC rooms. Can anyone here please guide me? Do they even exist?! If not, can someone describe what the new rooms look like?

TIA! :flower3:

Ok, I just have to share my excitement - I just got the 7/4 deal on our upcoming YC trip! I called when it was first announced, but there was nothing in the BW area for our dates. Out of curiosity, I checked the online booking today and saw that water/pool view room was available and couldn't believe it. We got to upgrade our room and save ~$800 from when we first booked it in January. :woohoo: Thanks for the offer, Disney!

Now I just have to study those maps all over again! Water view, here we come!

Just in case it hasn't been posted, but Art's last day at Beach Club is Saturday October 17th. This was posted in allears.net's newsletter.

Luckily I am checking in to the Yacht that day, so hopefully we will be able to stop on over and say good luck.

Wow, he's been there 16 years! Is he just retiring? Had I known, I would have wished him well when I saw him last week at the BC.

For those of you who have stayed at the Beach Club:
What are the rooms to stay in/stay away from?
and
What location is the best to request?

We will be visiting from January 7-17 and staying in a garden view room.

Thanks

That totally depends on what you want. Are you going to be spending most days at Epcot? If so, request a room on the first or second floor near the quiet pool (which makes you closest to Epcot). If you want to be close to the lobby and the bus stop and SAB, then request a room close to the lobby. Since you booked a standard view room, then you have a 50/50 shot of getting a roof view or a parking lot view, so if the view is important, request a courtyard view. If you want to spend time on the balcony, you should request a full balcony.

Once you decide what's most important for you, then we can all help you figure out how to word your request.

Teenas,

I do need to send a letter to YC Management, and I do have the addr, but I"m not sure who is the approp person to address it to (it's a letter of complaint, sadly). Could you help me?
TIA!

You can just address it to the General Manager's Office. Then, depending on where the problems occurred, they will send it on to the appropriate departments. I'm very sad to hear you did not have a wonderful experience.

Be sure and request the water view that you want and expect. At the BC, they consider a birdbath a water view.:rotfl2:

to The Beach Club. Our original plan was the Dolphin...but we got an offer to stay concierge Beach Club for $100 more per night...which isn't bad considering we can get a room with a daybed, (hopefully) saving $25 on a cot, breakfast every day, which will be a minimum $30 a day..and no parking fee, which is about $10 a day...so for about 40 extra per day we can have snacks, beer, (only dh )and at a resort we love.

I am excited!!

So questions.....Garden View concierge rooms, do most have daybeds? we have stayed 2x in regular rooms and they did!
Is the internet included in any part of the concierge level?

What about food offerings, I know nothing will be as good as The Poly...but...can the kids and I make it a meal at night? My husband will not, lol...

Can anyone answer a question for me? How comfortable are the daybeds?

We are currently booked at WL in bunkbed room but now looking at pricing, we can stay at BC for about $200 more which would be very conveniant since our dids will be 12 and 9 and we spend most of our time at Epcot and HS. We booked the bunkbed room since DS and DD can't share a bed but now wonder if the daybed would be comfortable for DD-9 to sleep on for 8 nights. thanks so much.

also, if anyone has stayed at both WL and BC, which would you recommend?

A few years ago our 13 yr old slept on the daybed and found it very comfortable. He was not tall, maybe 5'2" at the time, but not a small kid. Then our Godson also slept on the daybed when he was 11 and also liked it fine. I think either you 9 or 12 yr old will be comfy.:thumbsup2

Considering the ages of your kids, I think I'd go with the BC. The proximity to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and DHS makes the BC terribly convenient. And the BC just seems to be more "active" at all hours. This is not to say the BC is loud--not at all. But you get the fireworks every night from Epcot and all the activities at the Boardwalk in the evenings too. We loved WL, but it is considerably quieter and more laid back. The BC pool is more fun too.
