During prior WDW stays, we've never visited the YC/BC so I have no concept on the layout, size, etc. except for the maps and pictures seen here and on other sites.

Looking at the maps, it looks as though the parking lot might be a hike. We would probably drive to AK from the resort and there are a few off site restaurants that we like to visit. I didn't know if it would be an inconvenience to walk to the parking lot and if the YC or BC might be closer than the other.

We drove for the first time this summer. The parking lot at BC wasn't a hike at all. In fact we could see our van from the bus stop!

We have stayed at YC and BC and love both. YC has a lovely, quiet , elegant, atmosphere and is closer to the water taxi to DHS and the marina. BC has a very relaxed, vacationy feel to it. It is closer to EPCOT, BC marketplace and Beaches and Cream. Both are great!

My family's first stay at the BC was in July. GREAT vacation! Before we left for the trip, I decided at the last minute that I would put together a photo album for TeenaS, whose frequent posts about the Beach Club have been helpful to so many of us.

I PM'ed a few of the frequent or recent posters to this board, and asked if they would e-mail me a couple of photos of their family at Disney, OR at the Beach Club OR with Teena. I want to thank the families who responded to my last minute request. Teena was SO appreciative of the book when I gave it to her at checkin. Here is a photo of her first look at the book. She said it was nice to have a reminder of the wonderful people she has met and to be able to put a face to a "screen name/avatar" of the people who write into the board.

I tried to include 4 photos per family on each page, I printed out the avatar and wrote screen names, and if the family provided their names/hometown, I included that, too.

I told Teena I would maintain this book for her, and send photos to her if BC visitors/posters want to add their photos. Please PM me and I will respond with my e-mail address for you to attach a few photos. You can provide me with your real name if you want, or not. Please note that this book is just for Teena, not shared with the public, if you have privacy concerns.

Would you like to add any pictures to the photo album I made for Teena? I would love to send her a new batch of photos when she returns from helping her daughter set up her new classroom.
If so, PM me and I will give you my e-mail address.

Thanks! Look forward to hearing from you!

I know what you mean about the BC being more popular. We have not stayed at either resort. We are staying YC in less than 2 weeks. I was disheartened by the "pro-BC slant" when reading this thread. But I've decided that the YC is probably equally lovely and I'm going to enjoy our stay. I wouldn't change if I were you.

And I'm sure everyone has their favorite resort. When we have visited the BC on previous trips we found the lobby to be too chaotic for our tastes. Different strokes...

Have a great time!

We love the YC, it's not stuffy, just seems more serene to us. I"m praying that the BC is not going to be as chaotic as it has been every time we have gone over there from the YC. Ifzs it is DH may insist on being moved mid trip.

What a treat that must have been for Teena. You are so sweet to do that. I can't help you now because our trip isn't until Oct. I will try to save this page as a favorite so that I have the info. to send you pics after our visit.

Thanks, DLo- I will actually repost this message on a monthly basis, since Teena will be meeting new families all the time. Look forward to hearing from you after your trip. October will be here soon!

The self parking lot can be a hike depending on where your room is. It is very convenient for the BCV.

Yep, you should be fine and the view should be great. If you should get one of the rooms without a full balcony (I think there are only two), then just tell them at check-in you want to switch rooms. Since you have a waterview room booked, you should request on your reservation "full balcony please".

Thanks so much! I appreciate the info! Haven't been back to the BC in years, and looking forward to it.

Thank you everyone for your replies!! I think we will stick with the YC. I do remember (even though we loved it) the BC having a very "busy" lobby - I believe it must be due to the CM Cafe/Marketplace and Villa's walkway. We're going with another family who are "first timers at Disney" and I wouldn't want to overwhelm them! :goodvibes

I've stayed at the YC 4 times and loved it!!! It's really, really nice and quiet there. Just got back from a trip to the BC, and I liked it as well. The lobby was much more crowded in the evenings due to Cape May, but it was a pleasure to stay there. We tried BC b/c of the YC refurb and b/c we wanted to try something new.

I suggest you leave your reservations alone and try the YC -- it's a great place to stay. And messing with CRO is never a fun thing to do.:rotfl:

I have a quick question for all the BC experts out there. I called yesterday to make a request for queen size beds (don't want to chance getting full size) and the reservation hostess told me that all rooms at BC have Queen or King. Is that correct? I thought some rooms had smaller beds. Thanks for helping out.

There are some rooms with full size beds. I have never had one but TeenaS is a wealth of info on this board and she has mentioned them. If TeenaS tells you something you can take it to the bank.

I called to add discount and make my room requests. I requested queen beds and was told the same thing, "it's a deluxe and has all queen beds." I wasn't going to argue with CM, so I just called back and made the request with different CM.

I'm making our July 2010 reservations today! We took a vote last night and decided on the BC standard room with the deluxe dining plan for two weeks.

The vote was as follows: 3 BC, 1 YC, 1 Polynesian.

I suggested a split BC/Poly stay but DH hates to move once we get settled.

Now I just have to pick our exact dates and book.

Of course if Disney comes out with another great 7/4 for next summer we're back to the BC deluxe CL with regular dining!

It's the same resort. Same managers, same cast members, same amenities. Only difference is the decor. I prefer light colors. You are absolutely correct, the BC lobby is much more chaotic ... that's why I like it since when I work in the YC lobby I'm bored to tears.

In that case, should we not like the YC (or merely fancy a change half way through a two week stay) and we asked for a move to BC would it be possible if there was room availability??

Spend lots of time at the pool and the older kids will love some of the activities. Make sure you get the recreation guide when you check-in! Beware though, once the kids experience SAB, you might have trouble getting them to move over to the Poly. If that's the case, just come see me (if I'm there) or one of the managers in the lobby and if we have room, we can probably keep you at the BC. We have kids crying as they are leaving every day!

Hello. I'm glad i found this thread. We had a two week stay in March. We stayed first at BCV, then went to SSR. After being home for a month, one of the parents asked their children what they liked best about Disney.... the kids said they preferred the resort (BCV) over Disney. They didn't realize that BCV was a part of Disney...We didn't hit the parks till after we went to SSR.
Needless to say, we booked our entire stay next year at BCV, and i'm sure we'll experience the same dilema that you're describing above.

That is sooo true about SAB. We were debating a split stay at BC/Poly (10 nights BC - 4 at the Poly) and that's one of the things that I kept coming back to, the pool is awfully small at the Poly for all those guests. Not that the kids didn't like the volcano pool, it just pales in comparison to SAB!

Well I just made our July 2010 reservation - July 18 to August 1, standard room at BC with deluxe dining. Now I'm waiting for the big August 12 announcement to see if has any impact on our stay! We just love YC/BC and can't wait to get back!

Does anyone know what movies will be played at the Beach Club for the month of August?
Thanks :thumbsup2

stayin at yacht club right now, and on the 18th hannah montana the movie
starts, my daughter very upset as we leave 17th:sad2:

loving the yacht club, at first thought it would be too stuffy for us but
definately not, my 3 kids love it and so do i.

i prefer the peace & quiet of the lobby with a cool alcoholic beverage than
the chaos of the beach club lobby
