The 2009 U2 Thread - No Line On The Horizon Album & Tour

I know I'm in the minority but I'm hoping for the GA lottery in September.

I know I'm in the minority but I'm hoping for the GA lottery in September.

I don't want a lottery. The last time around, the lottery made a lot of people line up earlier because if you did not get in you wanted a good spot outside. I know that is what I did and what a lot of other U2 fans (the diehards) did.

Plus with 2400 people being allowed into the pit (unless they change that for the US). They would be scanning a lot of tickets.

Also, they didn't do a lottery for the Hawaii concert and the line was ran smoothly until we hit the cattle gates at the Headphone entrance and then it was a free for all.

I think it all depends on the venue and security. For instance, it was great in Boston during Vertigo because they gave out wristbands in the morning for us to return before the doors opened. Yes, we waited overnight to get the wristband but we didn't have to wait during the day for the show.

So I guess we will see, it's one of the reasons that I will not do GA for the Chicago shows. I am not looking forward to the GA line mess! Sigh!

Wow, skjuls...you have tickets to 8 shows??? How'd you get so lucky??

Probably because I only need to buy tickets for myself and any extras I get I sell to my friends.

Oh, I did buy my sister a U2.com membership too so that helped. It was kinda silly for U2.com to let people buy memberships at the last minute and still be eligible for the 3rd phase of the presale. My membership was in the first phase so all was right with the world. LOL!

The one show I didn't use a U2.com presale code, I just used the another presale code given to Soldier Field so I have seats for 2 Chicago shows and GA for the remainder and I am doing Red Zone for one of them.

Ah, got it now! I would love to see 8 shows but since I can't afford to travel to all those shows I will just have to live thru yours!!! ;)

Add me and DH to the list of U2 fans seeing them on tour this Fall! We can't wait to see them at Gillette Stadium in MA next month! Unfortunately, we didn't find out about the concert until last month so we had to buy tickets on stubhub.com and pay way more than I ever thought I would pay, but it will all be worth it to see the look on DH's face when U2 hits the stage!

I'm sorry you had to pay so much but I'm excited that you're going! You should join U2.com so you'll be all lined up next time if they have another presale.
I still have to wait until the end of Oct for my first show this tour so please report back with some details!!! I'm getting so antsy!!

I'll definitely sign up on their website. :cool2: This will be our first U2 show and hopefully not our last. I would LOVE to see them in Ireland. We stayed at a B&B in Ireland a few years ago and the owner is a huge U2 fan. He's seen them at least once on every tour they've ever done and he's only ever been to shows in Ireland. The way he talked about those shows made it sound like they are something that every U2 fan should experience. I will definitely report back after the 9/20 show with some details, but not too many since I know some people here want to be surprised!

So, did anyone go to either of the Chicago shows? If so, how was it? We have GA's for Sunday and Monday nights in Foxboro. I still don't know what time to plan on being there.

My cousin's friend went to the Pat's game last night and said it took him almost 3 hours to get out of the parking lot!:sad2::scared1::eek: I'm hoping he was exaggerating but he's heading to the show Sunday and said he's not looking forward to dealing with the parking lot again. I can only imagine it will be worse than a Pat's game because there will be more people at the stadium due to GA. I really wish they were playing at the Garden rather than Gillette but I'll take what I can get!

I went to both Chicago shows!

Amazing!

The Claw made Solider Field look tiny!

I had seats and yes the GA line was crazy. I have friends who did GA for both nights.

Lining up for GA depends on the venue and who's going.

sunday night, I would go earlier since it's a weekend. Check out interference.com and see what they are doing.

Do you want inner pit or outside?

some people said they went in at 6pm and still got pit.

I camp out because I want rail. I am short and need something to hold onto for 5 hours.

Oh, the line for Monday will probably start after Sunday's night concert ends.

I have been paying close attention to interference the past few days. I read that people were lining up Friday morning for Saturday's concert. I can't do that! I'm torn between the pit and outside on the rail. I've been reading that the stage is pretty high so you really don't want to be front row in the pit b/c it is a little more difficult to see.

I was hoping the claw would take up a good chunk of the field so that would cut down on the amount of people on the field. I've been looking on Gillette's site to find out what time the lot opened but it hasn't been posted yet (unless I missed it).

I'll be there with you on Monday night at Foxboro and I can't wait! I'm with you, though, that the Garden would be much better. Have a great time on Sunday!

I'm sad to say that I don't think your friend was exaggerating all that much about the parking lot. I have a friend who saw Billy Joel/Elton John there earlier this year and she said it took them about 3 1/2 hours to get out. Oh well. We'll just be sure to get gas on the way down, have some snacks waiting in the car, and fire up the iPod while we wait. It'll be well worth it!

Was at the Sunday show in Chicago. We had seats near the 3rd level balcony on the right side of the stage - great view! During "Where the streets have no name" the entire balcony was bouncing.

AWESOME SHOW!!!

We are heading down with my 2 brothers for Monday's show. They went to AC/DC a month or so ago and grilled after the concert. By the time they grilled, ate and the grill was cooled down, the traffic much better (well according to them anyway) so I guess that's what we are doing. It will be fun and worth it though! You have fun too mrssmh!!! Where are your seats?

24 hours to go for me! Going to the show tomorrow night in Toronto - cannot wait! We bought seats for this tour since we are taking the kids - didn't want them to have to stand through the whole show. We'll be taking pictures of course!

Enjoy! Post the pictures here if you can. :thumbsup2

So excited to hear from you guys!! I still have about 6 weeks until Vegas and LA so it's great to hear about the other shows!

I usually line up around 5am for that nights concert but are you guys saying people are waiting the whole day prior as well??? :scared1:

I have seats in Vegas so I'm not worried there but I have GA for the Rose Bowl and I don't even want to think about what time I would need to get there for the rail on Edge's side! :headache:

We're in section 115. It's a little behind the stage, but they are from the "Breathe" group of fan club tickets, so they must be good. I got them from eBay, and they're etickets so I'm a little nervous about them. When the tickets went on sale, our job situation was precarious so we thought we'd have to skip this one, but things are looking up so we're going. Maybe if they come back around, I can use my fan club code that time and get more great seats. Everyone have a wonderful time and post pictures!

Are we allowed to post pictures? If so, I can post some pix.

I was behind the stage and it was great.

Actually, they allowed more people on the field. They had GA Ticket Drops for both Chicago shows and today there were NY GA ticket drops.

And for Chicago, the venue did not honor the fan wristband system. They did first come first serve.

Just go line up when you can.

Dizneyholic, Some people line up the night before or two nights before. I think two nights before is crazy but I have done it for Mexico and Hawaii. I will line up the morning of for these concerts.
