The 2008 American Idol Thread.....

To me Jason Castro has a goofy kind of charm, he seems genuine (unlike some of the other contestants, ie Mr. Carrico & his wig, Jason Y and his Ken-Doll/Spawn of Satan toothy grin, etc.). And I am usually not a fan of dreads in general.

agnes!
PS - Someone help me out here...
Which one was it that had the fingernail collection?
Which one was it that had the vocal paralysis?

I agree about Jason C! He was so cute in his interview before the song!

All I know is David Archuleta had the vocal paralysis...I don't know about the fingernail guy, unless it was Luke :confused3

I can't remember his name either but the fingernail guy didn't make it past Hollywood week.

He's cheesier than Wisconsin!

I would agree that Jason Y. is a bit cheesy, yes, but there is more to Wisconsin than just cheese (just so you all know ;) ) Though we do have the best cheese of any state, and those commercials of the "happy" California cows are just myths....:) Oh, and for the record, people don't go around wearing cheeseheads all the time either, usually just at sporting events (Packers), but that's getting off topic!

I was impressed with David A. last night. I thought he sang very well, and his singing voice sounded really mature for a 16/17 year old. I liked Jason Castro too.

I liked:

David Archuleta – Just amazing. I think he’s darling & I hope he wins it.

David Hernandez – I thought he did great this week. His stage presence was more like what we saw during Hollywood week.

Jason Castro –I love that he sang an Andy Gibb song (not the Bee Gees, for you fellow 70’s music geeks). I hate his hair, but I liked his performance.

As for some of the others:

Danny Noriega – He’s good for a laugh. I wouldn’t vote for him, but I think he’s kind of funny.

Jason Yeager – ick. His performance and his outfit gave me the creeps!

Chikezie – Definitely better than last week, but his attitude stinks.

Luke Menard - I hope he finds his groove. He would be great if his stage presence improved.

I would send Jason Y. home for sure, and my 2nd would probably be Chikeze because of his attitude, or Robbie because I just can’t remember him.

I love Reviews time!

Michael Johns – He wasn't great but he wasn't that bad. His high notes were a little... off, but I love the song, I love Fleetwood Mac and I love Michael Johns so I did like it :lovestruc

Jason Castro - I thought he was awesome! Why are they putting him down for playing the guitar? True musicians play their own instruments, write their own music... they don't just stand there and sing pre-packaged pop crap in front of a tape player, which the American Idol producers seem to love  He made the song modern and original which is what the judges are always looking for... I don't get the bad reviews. Go Jason!

Luke Menard – Not good. Not bad, but not good. I don't like when guys have such high singing voices... only someone like Freddie Mercury could pull that off, and Freddy Mercury he is NOT. He's just kind of bland.

Robbie Carrico - UGH, I really don't like him. He's so fake regardless of how many times he tries to prove that he's a "real rocker" His rock is the equivalent of... Britney Spears singing I Love Rock & Roll in Crossroads :headache: No thanks!

Danny Noriega - He's too fabulous for his own good :lmao: I actually like his voice and his attitude makes me laugh, although I couldn't tell which one was him in his childhood photos. Oh well, I still think he has a good voice... or maybe I just have one too many gay best friends who remind me of him :lmao:

David Hernandez - He was awesome this week! I really liked his voice although he was really cheesy and awkward on stage. He looked kind of scared and the dancing was just off :rotfl2: He was a million times better this week than last week though!

Jason Yeager – What is this guy doing here?! He's SOOOO insanely cheesy that it's not even fun to watch... it's just uncomfortable. He can't sing, he can't perform and he better be gone tonight.

Chikezie – Better! I'm not into Donny Hathaway or the whole R&B thing, though, so I didn't love it. And his attitude puts me off... there's something about Chikezie that I just don't like.

David Cook – I love David Cook! He sounded awesome last night and I LOVE that song. He's been a favorite of mine from the beginning and I hope he goes far... but without the bad emo hair.

David Archuleta -- There's no denying that the kid's good! But man, Paula went WAY overboard. That's such a gorgeous song because of the lyrics and simplicity and he just made it sound way too over-produced. Most moving performance ever? Are you kidding me? I like David but there's something cheesy about him, too... the kid's won major talent competitions before, is he really all that surprised by the praise?

My Top 6
Michael Johns
Jason Castro
David Cook
David Archuleta
David Hernandez
Danny Noriega

Going Home
Jason Yeager!
Luke or Robbie

Reading that list of spoilers I am thinking that some of those girls got a wee bit over ambitious, and it might be a :scared1: :scared1: night.

I did like it better when they could sing their own songs in this round BUT this is really weeding out the crowd. It is showing that some do not know how song choice means a lot in this show.

Inside Edition's got a piece on about David A. I'm off to watch. I do believe I'm becoming a fan. :thumbsup2

Love ya, baby, keep trying!

Robin...has your allegiance shifted so soon? ;)

David Archuleta -- Imagine – ...enough of the humble crap.

Everyone hated the Melinda Doolittle humbleness, too. I don't know...I kind of find it endearing, for lack of a better word. However, David should know that he's good since he won Star Search. I genuinely felt that in Melinda's case she really didn't think she was that good at the beginning.

I'd rather see the humbleness than the talking back to the judges...

Just want to say how glad I am to see that others thought Jason Castro was great last night (just like the week before). I love him and thought he did awesome and couldn't understand why the judges were getting down on him. He is so humble and that is very refreshing, especially with that batch of arrogant guys. For the record, I LOVE Michael Johns. Ever since I lived in Australia for 3 years, I love everything Aussie :)

mjsbigblog has this posted as well:

Also from Joesplace, “Also, another tidbit: There is a list of 50 songs to choose from. The contestants pick 3 and the judges pick the one they will sing. Strange, I know, but it is accurate none the less.”

That can't possibly be right. I feel like we would've heard that at some point if that's the case. If they do "choose the song," why is there this constant, "Song choice, song choice, song choice" rant?

I kinda like that, but I really like Heart a lot. I do wish I wouldn't have watched it at the end though, she makes strange faces when she sings.

just got in the door and i heard that Karly did Heart and did a really good job. figures someone sang Heart and i missed it!!

hope Sayeshia(sp?) does good tho.

the baby cry is kinda freaky tho....
