Does anyone else not associate "All By Myself" with Celine Dion, but with Eric Carmen and Rachmaninoff?? I didn't even know that Celine ever sang it .

It is working on being worse than last year... which is HARD!

My take on AI's downturn... featuring actual amateur singers might help. AI is a point on a career track for all these folks. No need for us to cheer for them.

i've been saying that for a few seasons now. why does it have to be equally split?? people are going to vote for who they want, doesn't matter if it's a guy or a girl.

I am more familiar with the Celine Dion version of this song and that is probably why Asia'h didn't measure up, it wasn't even close to good.

Sorry but none of these women are worth the effort. Carley had her chance once and blew it and is now making beds for a living--what does that say about her staying power, not much.

Asia'h 's voice isn't going to make it in the professional singing world. She doesn't have the stamina to make it and I think Simon and company know that.

The interchangeable blond women are all pretty boring. I think Simon is dead on with his observations, the tapes are amazing and her performances are too much attitude, not enough talent. I think she thinks she is the best thing out there and is going to be sadly disappointed when she gets booted in the next week or two.

Brooke, sorry, good song choice for her voice, unfortunately her voice isn't the next Idol.

The rest, well, what can I say, I can't even remember what they sang 10 minutes ago.

See, I don't know that I agree. Overall, I was more entertained tonight than last night. I didn't dislike anyone tonight as much as I disliked Jason Yeager and Danny Noriega. Then again, I didn't like anybody tonight as much as I liked David Archuleta and David Cook.

I honestly think that it's a pretty level playing field this year as far as guys and girls are concerned...mind you, both fields are pretty weak as of right now.

This song would also have been a better song choice for Amanda. She might be able to do Heart. This girl can't.

Week Two – The Gals – Wrap-Up

The most talented top 20 ever continues…

Carly Smithson – Crazy on You – I was hoping I’d be gung-ho against Carly all the time, but I thought she was pretty good. I thought she kinda sounded like the lead singer of Heart, too.

Syesha Mercado – Me and Mr. Jones – Nice to hear her sing something quieter. There were a couple of rough notes at the beginning, and overall it didn’t WOW me, but it was okay.

Brooke White – You’re So Vain – I think Brooke White is Carly Simon. It fit perfectly. Granted, she doesn’t have the greatest voice, but I really like who she’d be as an artist.

Ramielle Malubay – Don’t Leave Me This Way – Nice to hear her sing something uptempo. I’m not sure I liked it, though. She’s got a good voice, but I didn’t love it on this song.

Kristy Lee Cook – You’re No Good – Despite the Felicity-like hair (always had a huge crush on Keri Russell…), Kristy is boring. It’d be easy to say “you’re no good” to Kristy, but she wasn’t awful…she just isn’t anything special. Lacks charisma onstage or something…

Amanda Overmyer – Carry on My Wayward Son – Didn’t like it at all…I think I’m done with Amanda. I liked her in Hollywood Week, but haven’t liked her the past two weeks.

Alaina Whitaker – Hopelessly Devoted to You – I actually thought she was okay until she hit a few bad notes at the end. Not as good as last week.

Alexandréa Lushington – If You Leave Me Now – Picking a song that focused on her upper register wasn’t a good thing. Didn’t like it at all.

Kady Malloy – Magic Man – The problem with this song (in my opinion) is that even if you sing it right in the verses, it sounds like you’re hitting wrong notes. Nevertheless, I didn’t like it all that much. But I still like looking at Kady

Asia’h Epperson – All By Myself – This song was much too big for her. Didn’t really care for her last week and this week was worse. It got “okay” by the end, but until then it was tough to listen to.

There are only 3 girls that I like out of this bunch: Syesha, Asia'h, and Ramielle. The rest are all meh. I especially don't like Brooke White. I thought her performance tonight was awful.

I'd keep any of the guys over all of the girls.

I associate it with the original. I have heard Celine sing it on a TV show or something but I still think of the real one. Never really liked it becuase I thought it was too depressing.

Tonight was pretty good. I sprinkled a few votes here and there. Amanda was absolutely painful to listen too and I'm disappointed that Simon didn't rip her to shreds for her butchering of that song.

Also Brooke White looks like French Stewart...watch when she squints!

I normally like Brooke, but I agree. I thought she was VERY cheesy while performing and seemed nervous and some of her notes were off. I couldn't believe the judges loved it.

I think the top 5 is going to be mainly guys. The girls do nothing for me.

I hope Amanda is gone cause she drives me nuts. Tonight was particularly horrible.

I thought Amanda's performance was painful also. It could not get over fast enough for me. Everything was bad about her tonight for me...from her singing to her hair to her clothing.

So many of the girls just blend together for me. I liked Carly and Brooke best. Kristy Lee Cook--I think I like her best off satge than on stage.
I actually have to keep referring back to the contestant page of AI to say most of their names. They just do not stand out for me.

Last night's guys I liked the 3 Davids.

I thought it was really HORRIBLE what Simon said about David Cook. What is wrong with being a "word nerd"? I thought it was better than "drag racing".
