The “You are obsessed w/ the DIS boards…Wow, did you learn that on DIS?” Trip Report

Yes, WDW with kids is a totally different experience!! No wonder the UG refers to it as "The Agony and the Ecstasy!"

I'm enjoying your report; FYI: many of your earlier pics still have not come out.

Looking forward to more,

Kathy

Great Installment... .I love the shot of your mickeys!! Isn't it funny how boys relax a bit about minnie... when at disney that is :D

Love the trip report. We're taking our 2 & 5 yr old for their first trip and love reading your experience - taking notes! Keep 'em coming!

Hi Everyone - It's been a crazy week around here - Can you believe it's already the middle of June? Where does the time go???

So, when we last left we were heading into Day 5. Everyone at this point is a little tired although the early night really helped. We were able to play in the swimming pool for awhile although it was a little cool after dark.

It's now Wednesday, May 15th for those of you who are interested - i don't think I've been keeping track in previous posts. DH and I decided to let everyone sleep in. Our plan was to head to Animal Kingdom for most of the day and then go over to EPCOT for an ADR at Garden Grille at 5:30. We planned to stay at EPCOT for Illuminations that evening. Sounds good - right? Well then, you've never experienced tiredness with a 4 yr old boy.

I know a few of you reading this have 4yr old DS's. BE PREPARED FOR TEMPERTANTRUMS!!!!! :scared1: Oh, my gosh - I have to apologize now to whoever was staying in the room next to us at ASMusic on 5/15/2007 at around 8:30 in the morning. If you heard screaming - that was my DS. I'm sorry. He woke up on the wrong side of the bed and that's putting it mildly. Normally he is a pretty even tempered little boy - he has temper tantrums sure but I've never experienced this degree before. It was like his evil twin had come in during the night. He didn't want to get dressed and laid on the bed and screamed at the top of his lungs for at least 30 minutes. :scared1:

Meanwhile, DD is being the best little girl you have ever seen. This is my theory is the worst one of the behaves the better the other one is. She got out her clothes, found her shoes, patiently waited for us. I sent DH and DD up to have breakfast and just let DS get it out. After about 15 minutes of me ignoring him he came over to me with this sweet little tear streaked face and said "I'm sorry Mommy, I'm ready to be good now". And that was it - the good twin was back and we headed for breakfast. Talk about mood swings!

So, we started the day with breakfast at ASMusic having learned earlier in the week that it is best to have food in their stomachs before hitting the park. It may take a little longer but it's worth it later! Then we headed to the bus stop. We were in luck again and the Animal Kingdom bus pulled right up.

Now - because of DS's meltdown and our stop for breakfast we were significantly later than we had planned in getting to the park. It was also a LOT hotter than it had been the previous days. We headed toward the park but got delayed in the gift store right outside the entrance.

I had been looking for a hat so I could hide my VERY wild hair. I have naturally curly hair and the wind and heat of Florida was not going well with it. The other times I've been to FL my hair has been long so I could put it up and get it out of my face, but I cut my hair last year. It seemed to get more frizzy by the minute :rotfl: I hoped a hat would at least tame it down. In the process of this the kids found the display of Jibbittz - you know the little things that fit inside the holes of crocs. Now there's a scam - $3.99 - really??? But of course we walked away with 4 of them - significantly less than DS wanted (one of each character). DS decided on a Pirate cross bone (one for each shoe). DD picked Ariel and Tinkerbell. Apparently Tinkerbell is one of the harder ones to find - go figure.

So, 20 minutes and $50 later we finally entered Animal Kingdom. We checked out the schedule and found the Finding Nemo: The Musical was starting in 45 minutes. I really wanted to see that show so we headed for that. What a line!!! After being able to walk into anything else earlier this week we were surprised to see a longer line for the first time. But - don't be scared about the really long line. The theater is huge - I was shocked that they got as many people in as they did. On our really long walk to the theater the kids spotted a vendor with the souped up windex bottles. You know - the spray bottles with the fan and the strap to carry them around. Oh yeah - they also have Disney characters on them ;) DS had been asking for one for a few days now but DH and I did not want to cave to that. Not only is it another thing to carry around but it's $16 for a windex bottle :lmao: But in our desperation to get the kids to want to be good in the show we made a deal. Ok, we bribed them. They sit good - we'll buy the windex bottle. If not - no deal.

The show was wonderful. Really really good. I am a HUGE broadway fan and I love the Lion King show that they have in the park. The previous show in this theater was Tarzan Rocks - this was one of my favorites also. Maybe someone can help me out here - I could have sworn that this theater used to be open aired - I seem to remember that from Tarzan. Anybody remember? It's enclosed now - was it always? Anyway....

After the show there just happened to be another vendor right outside. The kids had held up there side of the bargan so we ended up with 2 windex bottles and 2 VERY happy kids - also 2 VERY wet kids for the entire day.

After caving on the spray bottles I do have to say - go ahead - buy them. Our kids were sooooooooo happy - they LOVED them. It made the heat a lot more bearable. And, since we were pushing a stroller, DH and I got a nice mist coming back at us. I have to admit the $30 was well spent. I still think it's any over priced windex bottle but I'd buy them again :rotfl:

We knew we weren't going to be able to do everything at Animal Kingdom so we decided to concentrate on the Dinosaur area. It was about this time that I remembered that I really don't like Animal Kingdom. Granted - I've only gone to it a few times and I really haven't given it justice. But I have some problems with the park - the largest of which is all of the walkways seem small. The park always seems overly crowded to me and I think that's because of the way it's set up. You always have to go back to the Tree Of Life to get to another area. That drives me insane - I want to be able to walk from land to land like I can at Magic Kingdom. But I digress - I know there are a lot of people who really love this park. Maybe it will be me someday but until then.....

DH wanted to take DS on Dinosaur. Now, I've been on Dinosaur and remember it being rather intense and rough. But DS was game so off they went. It was only a 10 minute line and DD and I had fun looking at all of the statues of dinosaurs outside. Here she is in front of Iguanadon:

138394dino.JPG

DH and DS came out of Dinosaur. The verdict wasn't good. DS said "That was really bad. Really, Really scary" So - he wasn't ready for Dinosaur. DH said he was almost under the seat during parts of it. And the ride got stuck right by the big T-Rex. Not good.

It was about lunch time so we went to McDonald's - it's the Restaurantasaurous - for some chicken nuggets. They don't have the full McDonald's menu but my kids will always eat nuggets so it was a good lunch.

It was just about now that we decided to bail on Animal Kindgom. The kids were grumpy - the parents were grumpy and we didn't feel like fighting the crowds. It was EMH that evening so maybe that's why there were so many people. Anyway, we decided to cut our losses and head over to EPCOT early and headed for the bus stop. DH got a lot of use out of his spray bottle while waiting for the bus:

138394jspray.JPG

A nice cool ride later and we entered EPCOT.

I LOVE EPCOT! It's my favorite park. DH tolerates it because I like it. I had never been there during the Flower festival. Wow! The sculptures were amazing - I wish I had taken more pictures. Another reason I LOVE EPCOT - it NEVER feels crowded to me. And after our very crowded morning at Animal Kingdom it felt even bigger. Of course that's probably because everyone was over at Animal Kingdom :rotfl:

Anyway, DD feel asleep on the bus ride over. We decided to go on Spaceship Earth first. Basically because DS couldn't wait to see what was in the big silver ball. This is my FAVORITE ride. DH thinks it's pretty boring but he headed in with us. It turns out that this was one of DS's FAVORITE rides. He LOVED it. I'm not sure if it's because he knew that Dad didn't like it and that I did or if he really did like it. But, surprisingly, he didn't get bored during it - that's saying something since it is a really long ride. DD woke up about 1/2 way through and she really like it also.

The new exhibits at the exit of Spaceship Earth are pretty neat - all video games and DS LOVED playing them. It was really hard to convince him to go to the next place.

We let DS pick and he wanted to go to Imagination next. Again - no LINE. Did I mention that I LOVE EPCOT? Journey into Imagination was always one of my favorites as a kid. I really loved Figment. So I was really sad when they changed the ride and Figment was no longer a prominent character. The last time I went on the ride was about 2 years ago. I was pleasently surprised to see that they have changed it again - Figments back!! The ride is completely different than the last time I rode. What happened? Whatever they did I like it - parts of the original song are even back! Yay!!!

After Imagination we let the kids play in the fountain:
138394fountain.JPG

They got soaked - not that they weren't already from the spray bottles :thumbsup2 But that's half the fun of Epcot! All of the fountains to run through. We walked over to The Living Seas to check out the new Nemo ride. Nemo was OK - if I would have had to wait in a really long line i would have been disappointed. But the kids did like it. And you exit into some fun exhibits. Here they are with Bruce:

138394shark.JPG

And we stayed for Turtle Talk with Crush. I highly recommend this one. It's hilarious!!!! Whoever is doing Crush's voice is really good. They have all of the kids sit up front and then Crush comes on the screen and asks them questions. The things the kids come up with are soooo funny. At one point Crush asks the kids to tell him what some human things are and he comes on wearing the top of a bikini. He asked the kids what it was. I'm pretty sure they were expecting to hear a chorus of "Swimming suit" but instead one child shouted out "A BXXby holder" :rotfl2: Everyone in the room died laughing - even the CM doing the voice for Crush wasn't sure what to say next. The show ended pretty quickly after that.

By now it was almost time for our reservation at the Garden Grille so we headed for The Land.

So, I'll leave you in suspense for tonight. In the next post (hopefully tomorrow) we'll have dinner at the Garden Grille, experience the new Mexico ride, and try to get 2 sleeping children home on the bus.

I still have yet to do the imagination pavillion.... so I had no idea it had been changed... then partially changed back...

I have noticed the crowd thing too... AK is just insanity for crowds...

Can't wait to hear about the refurbd mexico ride...

Hello again - happy reading!

We on to dinner at the Garden Grille. I had made an ADR for 5:30 early on in my planning process. After reading some reviews of the restaurant I was a little concerned that we wouldn't like it. I even tried to change it the week before we left but couldn't find somewhere that I thought the kids would like. So, we hung on with the original plan. Turned out to be a good one.

This restaurant slowly turns - VERY slowly. We were seated on the upper level at a table for 4. At first I was disappointed as you have a much better view from the lower level in the booths. But the kids didn't seem to care and the table was easier with a high chair.

The Garden Grille is family style - you don't get a choice on what you are getting to eat. Pro - there's no decision making needed - Con - You might not like what they serve. For the kids it was all stuff mine like - chicken fingers, mac n cheese, biscuits, green beans. This was, hands down, their favorite dinner they had. I've never seen them eat so much. For the adults there is beef, turkey, cheesy potatoes, and catfish nuggets. Not our favorite. My tip for this restaurant - if you have kids go - they will love it. If you are kidless - skip this one and go for one of the more upscale EPCOT restaurants.
But the characters here were the best we found. Because it wasn't that busy they spent a lot more time with the kids. We met Chip and Dale ( I never remember which is which :confused3 but here is one of them)

138394dale.JPG

Pluto came by and stole DS's hat. DS thought that was hilarious. Mickey visited with DD and played with her pigtails. She's still talking about that.

The end of the meal, however, was DD's dream. The kids get a make your own cupcake for desert. This is a cupcake on a plate with 3 little cups. One has frosting, one m&m's, and one sprinkles. There is also a gummy worm on the plate but we stole this from DD. Now to fully understand DD's excitement you need to know that she LOVES cake. I don't mean she likes it like most kids because they have a sweet tooth - no DD lives for cake. It is her very favorite food on the face of the planet. It really doesn't matter what kind of cake it is either. Well, you can imagine her excitement when the make your own cupcake showed up. Considering we were on the dining plan and DD is only 2 I thought it was very nice that our waiter brought one for DD.

First she frosted it (I am NOT allowed to help!) Then she very carefully covered the top of the cupcake with sprinkles and m&m's. Then she ate off the first layer of frosting.
138394cupcake.JPG

Then she repeated the frosting process, ate of the next layer, repeat...well you get the idea. Each and every bite was individually frosted and decorated before she ate it. DH and I were rolling with laughter :rotfl2:

DS wasn't that patient but did decorate his. He is not a big fan of cake so only the candy was eaten off of his.

138394cup2.JPG

Once DD was finished with her cupcake we headed out of the restaurant and went downstairs to ride The Land. I honestly wasn't planning to go on it but DS is a sucker for boat rides. Both kids were facinated with this ride. It is interesting to ride through the greenhouses and learn how all of the plants are grown. DH and I were trying to figure out if what we had just eaten had come from here.

From The Land we decided to walk back toward the entrance to the countries and hit a few of the gift stores. I really like the stores at EPCOT. And had quickly found a whole bunch of stuff to buy. We let the kids get their ears. DD picked princess ears and DS picked the multicolored Mickey ones. Then we started to walk toward the countries and got stopped by the fountains.

Through the years I have watched so many kids play in these fountains. I have even played in the fountain. It was such a nice feeling to see my kids doing the same thing. And they had a ball and they got SOAKED.

138394water2.JPG

A tip from the family board that I listened to: BRING A BAG OF EXTRA CLOTHES. I kept an extra outfit for each of them in a plastic bag. It fit nicely at the bottom of our baggalini. So, once they were done in the fountain I could change their clothes and put the wet ones in the plastic bag.

So I had extra clothes but how the heck was I going to get them dried off. Didn't plan for that one. DH went back to the gift store and bought a beach towel. So it was a functional souvenir :lmao:

Once we FINALLY convinced the kids to come out of the fountain it was getting time to find a place for Illuminations. But there really wasn't much crowd so we decided to run into Mexico and try out the newly refurbished Mexico ride.

The classic ride has now been changed to Donald Duck and the Three Cabelerllos (I know I didn't spell that right ;) ). It's a cute ride, both kids liked it. But, as DH says, it no longer has anything to do with Mexico. Yeah, Donald and friends show up in various locations in Mexico but it's just not the same. Plus the best part of the ride was the guy at the end who was trying to sell you things - I loved that. Ok, ok it was really cheesy but I laughed every time. I was a little disappointed with this refurb. I'm am anxious to see what they have done with the Norway ride - this was closed when we were there.

By now we really had to find a place to sit. We started walking back toward The American Experience. I ususally sit right outside of Mexico but the wind was blowing in that direction and I didn't want to have all of the smoke in our eyes. There's another tip: ALWAYS CHECK THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND. SIT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE.

We found a place in one of the pavilions right outside of Italy. We had a front row view and it was only 10 minutes before. I went on a walk for snacks - yay snack credits!!! And we settled back to watch Illuminations. Great show, as always. DD really liked it but DS was so tired that he could have cared less. Oh well - can't please everyone.

Once the fireworks were done we hung out for a few minutes to let the crowd thin out. We knew that the line for the bus would be crazy so we figured we weren't in a hurry. Both DD and DS fell asleep in the stroller. DH and I decided to walk the rest of the way around the countries. This was my favorite night. It was dark, everything was lit up, the kids were asleep and we could take our time, talk, and really enjoy the evening. We shopped a little more and finally headed for the busses. And then realized we had a problem. We had bought a bunch of souveniers, we had the spray bottles we'd bought at Animal Kingdom earlier in the day, and we had 2 kids sound asleep in the stroller:

138394epcot_asleep.JPG

How exactly are we going to get all of our stuff, 2 sleeping kids, and a stroller on the bus??? We waited for one of the last busses - they actually shut the line down behind us. And then DH carried both kids - that's impressive - 70 lbs of children. I took the bags and strollers. Luckily people on disney busses are very nice. A very nice family that got on first helped DH to make sure that the kids didn't hit their heads when he sat down. What I have noticed is that people on the busses who have school age kids are more likely to help out the people who have toddlers and preschoolers. They must remember what it was like to take their kids at that age. Whatever it is I thank everyone who helped us out!!!!

It was another very full day - after our hard start with DS's temper tantrum to end all temper tantrums, a very crowded trip to Animal Kingdom and TONS of fun at EPCOT it was time for bed.

Tommorrow is to be our last day in the parks. We are heading back to the kids favorite - Magic Kingdom. We'll have dinner at The Plaza, survive a LONG wait for the electrical parade, and see if DH and I can race from one land to the next to try to get DH a pirate sword before the shops close. See you next time!

Great chapter.... I must agree about the helpfulness of parents with school age children... we had a few times where both babies had fallen asleep and got plenty of assists if needed.... we luckily have 1 that's a teen so he helps out alot...

Happy summer everyone!!! Can you believe that it's June already? 2007 is halfway over. Wow - time does fly.

So we are now nearing the end of our trip but we have one last day of fun. We have chosen to go back to the Magic Kingdom for the day. We breifly toyed with going back to Epcot for a few hours but decided that it would be easier to keep it to one park.

In honor of our last day DD wore her new Mickey and Minnie ponytail holders:
138394katiedress.JPG

Surprisingly, after our late night at Epcot everyone woke up in a good mood. Because we were planning to stay out late we took our time getting ready and had a good breakfast at ASMu. Gotta love those Mickey waffles!! Then we headed for the bus stop. Now all week we have been lucky. We never once waited longer than 5 minutes for a bus. All of that came crashing down on us. The line to the Magic Kingdom was unusually long. DH and I thought it must be because a bus would be around the corner any minute so we joined the line to wait....and wait...and :rolleyes1 wait some more. It was hot and the kids were getting restless. I eyed the line to Epcot...A TIP I've learned over the years...You can take the bus to Epcot, get on the monorail to the TTC and get to the Magic Kingdom. It takes a little longer but at least you are moving. Unfortunately the line to Epcot was really long also - busses were coming for that one though. And a bus showed up for Animal Kingdom, and then for Downtown Disney. And then another bus for Animal Kingdom and another for Downtown Disney. And we are STILL waiting.

By now a lot of people had left the line so we were very close to the front. Convinced that a bus HAD to be on it's way we stayed in line (The line to Epcot was still long). FINALLY after 30 minutes of waiting - the couple in front of us had been there for an hour!!! - the bus showed up. The driver was very apologetic. Something had happened to one of the busses and they were short on the route. That's great but why couldn't they tell someone at ASMu so that they could communicate that to all of us standing in the very hot sun with very hot children?

But we were determined not to let this ruin our last day. DH and I stayed in very good spirits considering. But then the driver started letting wheelchairs on. Now I may get flamed here and I will completely understand but most of us in line were complaining of the same thing. Most of us had been in line a much longer time than the families with wheelchairs and yet they are able to go right up to the bus and get right on. In this case they loaded up 2 wheelchairs in the official space and then 2 more families who folded up the wheelchairs and the people walked on. I completely understand that wheelchairs are a necessity, but I do think that they should have to stand in the same line as everyone else. By the time all of the wheelchairs were loaded and all of the family members 1/2 of the bus was filled. And remember most of the line had been there for more than 30 minutes. It is so frustrating. Luckily we were in the front of the line so we did get on but there were some VERY unhappy people who did not make the bus. And especially were not happy when the driver promised that another bus would be there in less than 10 minutes. I don't think they believed him.

Ok - I'm done complaining about that. I apologize to anyone who was one of the wheelchair families I just had to get that off my chest. :guilty:

We finally got to the Magic Kingdom. I wanted to stop at Guest Relations for a minute. The day before we had bought the kids the water spray bottles - remember the souped up windex bottles? Within a few hours of having them both kids had dropped them on the ground and both battery cases broke. So now the cool fan didn't work and let's face it - what fun it a spray bottle without a fan? I had forgotten to ask at ASMu so I thought that I might be able to get some tape from Guest Relations so get them fixed. I'm pretty sure this was an unusual request because the CM working there gave me a very strange look. But she took the bottles and said, "I'll see what I can do" 5 minutes later she came back with 2 brand new Mickey spray bottles with working fans and ice cold water!!! No charge..just a "Here you go - this should make the kids happy again!" You bet it will - THANK YOU Guest Relations! So - here's another tip USE GUEST RELATIONS!! They are great. At Animal Kingdom we went in after getting a tip from another CM (Another tip - talk to the CM's!!! They know secrets!) She said that they still had some buttons left over from the Pirate and Princesses party earlier in the year. We went in and asked and have 2 very special buttons.

So now we had new sprayers and......it was time for lunch. We headed to Tomorrowland to use up our last counter service credits. Lunch was good - DH and I got a laugh when another Mom was following her young son around and said to him about our children "Look at how nice those children are sitting and eating...you need to sit like them." I laughed and said - "Don't use our kids as examples - you didn't see them an hour ago."

It is funny though. Each time DH and I thought our kids were the worst behaved ones in all of WDW all we had to do is walk in the bathroom. That's when you realize that your kids are just the same as everyone else's. One thing this trip taught me: Patience!!!! Traveling with a 4 & 2 yr old is not a walk in the park!!!

So, now we've eaten, it's 12:30 and we have yet to go on one ride. :rotfl2: Oh well, we also learned flexibility on this trip. :thumbsup2

DS requested to ride the People mover (ok, ok, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority) again. So we headed over to do that. We thought we would try to talk him into trying out Buzz Lightyear again but the trauma of our first day was still to fresh in DS's mind. Then we decided to walk over to the Haunted Mansion. This was another one on DS's list for the last day. Most of the rides in Fantasyland were also but it was really crowded in that part of the park so we decided to wait it out.

On the way we changed directions because we remembered that we hadn't done the Tiki Room yet. DH really likes this. A show was just starting when we got there so we walked right in. I like the Tiki Room - I liked a little more as the original version but at least they kept the song. All together now....In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room, In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room, all the birds have words and the flowers croon in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room.....

Since we were in the neighborhood we also rerode the Aladdin ride. DS was determined to get DH and I with the camel spray again. And, he did. I hate that camel.

From there we walked down to the Haunted Mansion and DD fell asleep in the stroller. DS & I hit a snack cart for some Mickey ice cream bars and a popcicle for him and we took a break in the shade. We noticed that both the heat and the crowd level were high - the highest we had seen all week.

DH and DS went to ride Haunted Mansion and I watched the parade from afar. I also spent some time people watching. That's always a lot of fun - one of my favorite things to do.

By the time they were back from the Haunted mansion DD was awake and we decided to check out the crowd in Fantasyland. We were banking that people had left for the afternoon after the parade. Well we had been lucky earlier in the week. We were able to get on It's a Small World again which was DD's favorite but the lines for Pooh and Peter Pan were over an hour. The fast pass for Peter Pan was already at 8:45 - we grabbed some before they ran out. This was the one ride that BOTH DD and DS wanted to reride.

Since it was hot we went over to Ariel's grotto to let everyone cool off. DD didn't just cool off - he got SOAKED!!!
138394joeywet.JPG

We let them play for awhile. It was a little crowded for DD so we used the time to go over to Tinkerbell's treasures. DD fell in love with Tink on this trip. She spent a very happy 20 minutes wandering this store.

By this time a very wet DS and DH had found us. The show in front of Cinderella's castle was going to start soon and I really wanted to see it. We decided to get a good place. We got right in front of the castle so both kids could see. Both kids really liked the show - it was sooo cute to hear DD call out all of the character's names as they came out.

We had an ADR at The Plaza but it wasn't until 6:45 - It was just around 6:00 but we decided to check in anyway. Both kids were hungry and we were hoping that we could get in early. As we were waiting I snapped this pic:
138394hats.JPG

The kids menu at the Plaza is great! DS got 2 mini hamburgers and fruit, DD got a Mickey PB&J with fruit (grapes and a banana). The menu for adults is mostly sandwiches and burgers - it was all good though. Of course the entire reason to go there is for the sundaes! The kids each got the mickey cone - a scoop of ice cream with mickey ears and a sugar cone hat. They both enjoyed them:

138394ice3.JPG

138394ice2.JPG

After dinner we decided to do some shopping on Main Street. I hadn't had time to look in the shops yet and I still had some souveniers that I wanted to get. We shopped for awhile and then noticed that people were already lining up for the Electrical Parade. It was pretty early but I really wanted a good seat for this. It's one of my very favorite things. So I convinced DH to park the stroller and then we could alternate going in the shops. This was perhaps not exactly my best decision during this trip. You see, the kids didn't want to sit in the stroller. They had no idea what they were waiting for and didn't think they should sit anymore. DD was pretty easy to amuse with crayons and her autograph book. DS was slightly harder. I gave him the camera to play with...he took a picture of...His pirate jibbittz:

A lovely picture of me:

And...his masterpiece...my foot:

Don't you think he has a career ahead of him? So, finally, after an hour of waiting the parade finally started and I had the moment that I wanted. Watching the kids faces was so much fun but, looking back, I definetly should have found a different place to watch the parade. I should researched best places to watch this parade on the DIS. But I didn't - so my tip to you is RESEARCH THIS PARADE...GO WITH A PLAN OF WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO SIT AND HOW LONG YOU WANT TO WAIT!

After the parade we fought our way back to Fantasyland. We had 1 hour until the park closed and we had a mission. We had to ride Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, and get DS a pirate sword (his bribe for waiting for the parade - I know but it works ;) )

Luckly the line for Pooh wasn't too long so we jumped on that. When we ran over to Peter Pan to cash in our fast passes. As we went on we warned the kids - this is it - the last ride. Everyone say ALL. (That's a think in our family - when you get to the last thing - birthday, christmas present, etc everyone says "ALL". yep, that's us)

We we went on this one DH said - "Check out the mermaids - I think one is painted to be Ariel". He's right - one of the mermaids DOES look like Ariel.

Now we have completed our rides but we have one last mission. Find DS a pirate sword before the shops close. We had to get over to Adventureland but shops were closing quickly. So, we strapped both kids in, told them to hold on to everything they owned (DS was yelling that at the top of his lungs) and ran. I haven't ran through Magic Kingdom in .....years. It was soooo funny. DH and I were laughing so hard. But - we did make it. DS was able to get his pirate sword, that goes with his Make your own Pirate hat, to complete his look.

So, it was over, we slowly walked back to Main Street. People were lining up to watch Wishes. We had already seen it earlier in the week so we thought that we would beat the crowds to the busses. But then we hit the gift stores - I had a few more purchases - so we were actually walking out right at the end of the fireworks. DD was NOT happy that we didn't stay to watch them. DH was carrying her and she was looking back yelling. "Sit down, we sit down and watch fireworks" Don't feel bad for her - she did get to see most of them.

And then it was back to the bus and back to the resort. It was late and I had to pack. The magical express bus was picking us up at 10:45 the next morning. DS was wired and found Power Rangers on TV - He was able to get the remote away from Mickey:

And then he dressed up in all of his Pirate stuff:

We finally got everyone to sleep, I got everything packed and we were ready to go.

The next morning we had breakfast and DH spent the last of our snack credits. We had lots of cookies and rice crispie bars for the plane! We waited for the bus. There was a little panic when we realized that we had been waiting in the wrong place but we made it on to the bus and were headed for the airport.

The magic was over....for this time.

We are already planning our next trip for 2009. This one will be an extended family trip with DH's family for his parents 40th wedding anniversary. I've been elected Official trip planner. That should be interesting ;) I'm going to need LOTS of help. I'm so glad I have the DIS!!!

I hope you all have enjoyed reading this - it's been a lot of fun to write and relive the memories. DS and DD may forget but DH and I will remember this first trip with them forever.

I have had a great time reading this!!! We are taking toddlers and I made a lot of notes! I'll be looking for the 09 pre-trippie!

Thanks for posting your TR and all the great pictures! I've enjoyed following along while I wait for the go-ahead from DH to start planning our next trip.

My two dd are a little younger than your two, but I know that this report will be of great help in regards to this age. Glad to see that you think zip-lock packing is the way to go... I can't wait to keep reading. You will have to give me some additional tips as I am planning!
