"That woman just sneezed into my beer!"

Regular hand sanitizer does not kill norovirus or rotovirus (stomach viruses). Lots of good info about which ones do here: http://www.stopthestomachflu.com/Home/which-hand-sanitizers-kill-stomach-flu-viruses

I've already purchased Zylast and Clorox Hand Sanitizing Spray to take w/ me when I go in April.

Where did you find the Clorox Hand Sanitizing Spray? I looked for it at Target and Walmart and did not see it. Is it not with the soaps and other hand sanitizers?

We got the flu while at Disney... By the time we figured out it was flu, I got it, and by the time I got the z-pack, my brother had it...

Hi!
A Z-pack won't cure the flu or help with symptoms, because the flu is a virus, not a bacterial infection.

Tamiflu, however, can be prescribed within the first 48 hrs to help lessen the severity of symptoms.

My friend has warmed me about all the germs in Disney. My oldest daughter will be fine but telling a 5 year old not to touch stuff or put her hands in her mouth or near her face is crazy. My youngest is so gross as it is :crazy2: The Clorox spray on Amazon is $40 for four 2oz bottles. That is crazy expensive.

Eeeewwwww! :) We have been lucky that we have never gotten sick on a Disney trip(knock on wood). I'm pretty sure I would have been pretty dumbfounded by that women sneezing in my beer as well. Clorox wipes will now be on the list for those plane rides. And please people, always wash your hands after the restroom. Let them air dry if you must. I'll say it again. Eeewwwwww!

Disney is generally very good with "guest recovery"--i.e., you buy your kid a Mickey bar and he immediately drops it on the ground, they'll replace it. I would have at least explained to a CM that someone sneezed in the beer, but there may be some weird law that because it's alcohol they can't do anything about it. Perhaps they'd just shrug and laugh it off, to which I'd say "You might think it's funny but it's snot."

At 1900 Park Fare I witnessed a boy about 7,8, 9 in age sneeze right into the mac n cheese that was just brought out. I waited for that mac n cheese too in all it's yummy cheesy-ness. I shoo'ed him away, and guarded it until a CM came by. She asked if it was my kid.... Um, hell no it wasn't my kid, and why does it matter take the dish away.

It grosses me out to see adults sneeze without covering than kids to be honest. We should know better.

Ah, the pitfalls of buffets! In addition to the sneezing and coughing, I've also witnessed children AND adults handling things (breads, cookies, etc) , looking them over and putting them back.

My bad - it was Tamiflu. Didn't cure, just shortened the length. Mom's a doctor - you would think she could diagnose all of us! Nope. Oh, and she and my brother had gotten the Flu shot. But this year's one was pretty much useless.

Given that in the vast majority of people that illness is a cold with a rash, probably not anything to worry about. (but if it is and the guy gets it, then he has the bonus of bonafide lifelong immunity from it, along with a host of other generalized protections that no one talks about anymore but used to be general knowledge)

:)
Yeah, or you might end up like my niece, who's mother didn't believe in vaccination either and is now blind. That "rash, probably not anything to worry about" can also develop inside your eyeballs (corneal ulceration). Kids dying and getting maimed from measles by the truckload used to be general knowledge too.

I have never gotten sick from flying or at Disney and I don't really do anything different there then I do at home.

And I am sorry, but not washing hands after you use the bathroom is absolutely gross. There is no excuse for it. I seriously hope that someone who doesn't wash their hands isn't touching a dang thing right afterwards. Just the idea makes me feel ill.

Luckily we drive down, so I don't have to worry about plane germs (yuck!). I do take a big can of lysol (has to be the kind that has "brand III" on the can in order to kill norovirus) with me and spray down everything in the hotel room when we first get there. Doorknobs, light switches, remote controls, etc.... I'm sure housekeeping never cleans those things properly and they are covered in germs.

Or you can get two doses of the vaccine and have the same immunity and not spread a disease that could be deadly or cause severe complications like deafness. Hmmm
First let me say I'm not anti vaccine. But relying on vaccines is not doing you and your body any favors. You are not letting your body develop a natural immunity to things. Vaccines aren't full proof but your body's natural immune system is. A great example is the first distribution of flu shots this season. They did not work... At all.. Sometimes the best thing is to just let your body fight the battle.

I get the jeebies every time the CM's tell my daughter to give the characters a kiss on the nose! How many other kids have done that without them wiping it down! It may make for a cute pic, but I'd rather not chance the germs (especially when there are people not washing their hands after restroom breaks!)

This line of thinking is flawed on so many levels.

If our bodies have a 'natural immunity' to these diseases, why have so many people died or been left with lifelong disabilities after contracting these diseases?
Why didn't this 'natural immunity' prevent all those people at Disneyland from getting the Measles?

And how is this year's ineffective flu shot an example of natural immunity? Are you saying that no one is getting the flu this year because of their 'natural immunity'? That is just plain false!

Your body does not have an inherent 'natural immunity' to diseases like polio, measles, mumps, flu, etc.
Your body develops an immunity to these diseases AFTER being exposed to them. So in order to develop the immunity, you have to get sick first. Then, if you survive the disease, you won't get it again because your body has developed the immunity.

A vaccine works the same way. It exposes your body to a benign version of the disease so that your body can develop the immunity without having you having to become ill.

Thus, you have the immunity without having to go through the life-threatening disease.

You may or may not wish to vaccinate, but at least base your decision on facts, not fairy tales!
