THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!!! The Incredible(s) Trip to Disney

I just realized that you have Riverside in your signature, and from your comment I am assuming this isn't the first time you have stayed there. I have a daily obsession, each day a new obsession. Today is Port Orleans-Riverside, care to share some knowledge? :worship:

Oh my goodness, what would you like to know?! We LOVE that resort... Yes, we stayed there last time, because we "had" to. On our very first trip as a family, DS6 wasn't 3 yet so we got to stay at ASMovies. Loved it, lots of fun, but now that he's over 3, that doesn't work unless we get two rooms or a suite ($$$$!). So, POR being the only non-deluxe (read: affordable!) resort that can accomodate 5 people in some rooms, that is where we opted to book. We fell in love with it and now return eagerly!

You know, I could ramble for pages on this place, but I have a better idea:

Lots of info and pics over there to keep you busy for a while! :thumbsup2

I hear a lot of people complain about the buses, are they that bad if you plan for them??
I will check out that site as soon as I finish with another POR I found today. I showed the pics to DH and he really likes them too. :thumbsup2

We've only been there in September, never peak season, so I'm only basing this on that experience. But we didn't have problems with the buses. The one and only time we had a wait was trying to get to Epcot on an evening EMH night. Seems everyone else had the same idea and four buses went by before there was one with any room on it!! Other than that, no. No problems. There are a lot of bus stops but that's just because Riverside is so spread out. At park closing time, they usually split the runs up between Riverside and FQ for the trip back (as opposed to just one bus for both sections in the middle of the day, when traffic is much lighter). I think the folks who complain about it either went during a very busy time and/or they just don't like having to "wait" at all!

Thanks for that. :goodvibes I never looked at Riverside before because of the bus horror stories but sometimes you just don't know. We are planning to go in 2009 either September/October or December. I am leaning towards December right now but who knows how many times I will change my mind. :lmao:

LegoMom, I don't know why I did not realize you were going to be at POR! Tell me something: my ds (SKINNY) says he's going to sleep in the trundle. Will he be comfortable? He's about 4 feet tall, but weighs no more than 55 pounds.

Have you heard back from your TA yet? Are the ADR's changed? Are you going to be able to do the MK on Sunday? Huh, huh, huh?

He should be fine as long as he's not used to posh accomodations at home! :rotfl: No, seriously, he'll fit. The mattress is probably around 4" thick, and can take a person 5' or under. Here is a pic of one from the Portorleans.org site:

Then he should be fine. :rotfl:

Seriously, he falls asleep on the floor 2 nights a week watching tv and we let him sleep there until we go to bed. He should be fine.

I was wondering the same thing Smileybug was. We really have to get a stick to you, don't we? :lmao:

I often threaten my children with a wet noodle. Who wants a wet slimey noodle thrown against them, anyway? :rotfl: We had to push for a PTR, have to make her plan. She is really an anti-planner is she not?

We still love you, LegoMom

I am not either a non-planner!! I'm just a non-babbler! I'm grasping at straws here to think of stuff to write about BEFORE my trip.

Good grief but you guys are hard to please.... Sheesh!

Way kewl.

I had the day off from work today. It was pouring rain.

Again...

So, I spent a disproportionate (there's that word again...!) amount of time DISing, and didn't feel the least bit guilty! :surfweb: And somewhere between the 3rd cup of coffee and the 20th trip to the bathroom, it suddenly hit me...

There is an evening EMH at the MK on our Sunday. And we're scheduled to be at Epcot!!

Now, I think when I made our original plans, I steered clear of evening EMHs due to our last experience with one at Epcot. The busses were mobbed, which caused us to nearly miss our ADR at Biergarten in Germany (fully a mile from the bus stop....at least...), and then the few attractions open were not doing FastPass (or they were out of them) and the lines were loooong. Grandma could have knit a full shawl while waiting in those lines.

But, the Magic Kingdom at night is special. Extra magical, even. And I started to think, why don't we switch our plans on Sunday and do MK instead of Epcot! Easy enough, right? Sure.

But it means I have to change an ADR...!:scared:

What???....woman are you CRAZY?!

Well yes, but that's beside the point here.... What I am attempting to do is secure a new ADR. For our trip that happens next month.

So, I've e-mailed my magical agent from Dreams Unlimited and am awaiting the verdict. She's a doll, and I'm sure she'll come through with something, but it's a big mystery at this point!

What we had for that day was dinner at the Garden Grill in The Land. Obviously if we won't be at Epcot, we can't eat there.

My first choice of a new ADR is Kona at the Poly. Any meal. I don't care!! (but if we get lunch or dinner you can bet I'm gettin' me a Lapu-Lapu!! ). If that doesn't fly, I've requested an early dinner at Boatwright's. We'll end up taking a swim break that afternoon anyway, so we'd be right there, and could eat before heading back for the Magical Evening of Fun. We ate at Boatwright's last trip and had a really, really great meal.

Boatwright's Potatoes.....yummy.:goodvibes

Do you see a pattern involving food here??!

Helen: E, it's great to see you, but I gotta tell you, I've got no idea what you're talking about.
Edna: Yes, words are useless! Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble! Too much of it, darling, too much! That is why I show you my work! That is why you are here!

.

Oohhhhh... you are a brave woman aren't you? But I will bet a handful of pixie dust that something comes through.

Very glad to hear your Boatwrights dinner was nice. We have that scheduled for our trip.. Not sure when. It has all become a blur.
