Correct! In this case I made a reservation online this morning for an October Home Resort reservation using one membership.
I later realized that I had exactly enough points remaining in another membership (both with the same Home Resort). So I called MS (as I did not think the online system would allow me to modify an existing reservation using two different membership numbers) and they swapped the points for the first night and linked the two reservations together. There was still availability for that date in the system so it there was no problem modifying the reservation using two memberships for the same Home Resort.
Had the reservation been within 7 months and I was trying to use points from a different Home Resort, there would definitely need to be availability to do the same thing.
Good question - which hopefully may be helpful to someone else.
I should have asked if that could have been done online, so I still don't know.
When I explained what I was wanting to do , I said "This may be something that could be done online, but am not sure", and she said "That's what we're here for! " So I forgot to ask if it could be done.
