I disagree. I don't think sudden death is "fair" in that the offense and defense are such specialties, sudden death would just mean one team's offense is better than the other team's defense. It doesn't mean the TEAM is better, which is what should be measured. Holding a team to a FG *IS* a defensive "win" (when compared to a TD) IMO.
I like the way college does it, but don't think pros should start at the 25. Without running a play, that's a 42 yard FG, for all intents and purposes "automatic" when you get to the quality of the NFL kickers. I think in NFL, the ball should start at the 40. That would be a 57 yard FG, so at least a little "iffy". Even better, start at midfield.
