We have eaten there twice. Very good. Expensive, but actually for sushi, it is normal price - the three of us usually rack up about $60-$70 for dinner.
I live in a very "non-exotic" world so my first time trying sushi was this past October at EPCOT in Japan, don't remeber the restaurant. I was surprised that there were so many varieties. The server asked if I had had any reactions to raw fish before and I said I'd never tried it. So she suggested the California roll which I thought was delicious. Of course an hour later I was in the bathroom for an extended time. But since it's so good I'm wondering, is there a way to build up your tolerance to eat sushi? Or would I be okay in small doses? Or is it possible that it was not prepared correctly? Or are some people just out of luck? I sure would like to try it again sometime though.
A California roll is crab (and it's generally cooked I think), rice, avocado, and the seaweed wrapper (and often mayonaisse in the crab). Maybe you're allergic to avocado or something, because I doubt that there's really any way to screw up a CA roll. I don't eat sushi myself (not the raw stuff), but I've had a few CA rolls and had no I'll effects.
Right Jen, there is no real "raw fish" in a CA roll. It must have been the mayo or imitation crab. Real sushi includes plenty of raw fish such as tuna (spicy or not), salmon, octopus (a family fav), yellowtail, and many others. We had the sushi "boat" which had dozens of pieces for a set price, it was delicious.
