That Pirate Stole My Tiara: The Pre-Trip Report

All the new goodies are great. I love the light blue tank. Looks perfect for some hot Florida weather.

Alas, they didn't have my size in the light blue, so my tank is white, but it'll be better for the transfers anyway.

You look practically ready to go already!

I am!!!

Sadly me. I've tried, but just can't pull off reds at all. I'm very pastey white, with some gold undertones and anything bright just looks way too glaring on me. I'm resigned to having to long longingly at all the OP reds when I'm at the salon. I can usually wear corals, but have to bring them with me as for some reason my salon only carries reds and pinks.

We're SO the opposite. I can only do pinks and corals every now and again. Dutch Tulips is a pinky-red, very bright, but you might be able to get away with it.

Glad you appreciated that!

UGH. Ladies and gents, I just got some bad news.
Bad in the Disney trip arena.
Nothing devastating or trip-canceling, mind you.
But it doesn't make me happy.

Lights, Motor, Action will be refurbished from 9/11/08-9/24/08.

Yours truly was really looking forward to seeing this one. On my last trip they were building the theatre and training the drivers and I got to see all that on the Backlot Tour. It's scheduled to re-open on the 24th. We'll still be IN Disney on the 24th. We don't check out until the 26th. But our MGM day(NODHS - which to me TOTALLY looks 'Disney High School' rather than 'Disney's Hollywood Studios) is earlier in the week, on Tuesday, I think. I don't know if I'm into with messing with the itinerary. 'Cuz that would also mean messing with ADR's. And I'm not sure if I have that in me.

::sigh::

We'll see.

Personally, I don't think LMA would be worth changing around your ADRs. It was okay and had some interesting bits, but it's not something I have to see over again, or that I have to recommend to my friends and family. Unless they really love cars and the backwash of heat from exploding things. Which you could get in the Backlot Tour if you really wanted and were willing to endure the underwhelm-ment.

Though you posting did remind me that when I get to that bit on my TR, I may want to include spoiler alerts for those who may be naive, as my friends and I were, about one particular bit of movie "magic."

I agree with Jiri. I was underwhelmed by it. Wasn't really my thing. Nor was climbing the skyscraper...I mean bleachers to find a seat. I actually left early because there was no way I was going to get trampled by a million people all trying to get out of the show down those scary bleachers. I don't like bleachers, I feel like I am going to fall through.

helllooooo neighbor(ish)! i'm reading your pre-trippie from off of exit 2 on rt. 3 - almost the Cape, but without any bridges! (and way fewer rotaries). i've lived/worked up and down rt.'s 3 and 18 my entire life - i love seeing others of my kind on the DIS. :goodvibes

i just read this whole thing in one sitting - thank gawwd you haven't actually gone yet, i'd be here for another 2+ hours! Not that i wouldn't have enjoyed it, because i would have, immensely, but it's 12:30 a.m. and my bed is calling my name.

geez i had so much to comment on when i was reading, and now i'm blanking. i should probably write these things down. Anyhow, mainly i'm distracted because your Coach find prompted me to go to the Coach website and NOW I NEEEEED A NEW PURSE. durnit. you understand my pain.

hmm so yes, i'll be back, and i will be enjoying your shopping conundrums, even if they make me want to spend $$ that i don't have!!

and hopefully i'll be back before my brain shuts off and i forget every witty comment i wanted to make. and they were witty, i promise.

I think the thing of it is that I haven't seen it yet and I was looking forward to trying all of the "new" things. I agree, it might not be worth it, but I like to give everything (except the Tea Cups) at least a chance. We'll see.

Ahhh! Hello Neighborish Lady! You sound Plymouthish to me. :) Or is that Rte. 6. All those rotaries (either traffic circles or roundabouts to you non-MA folk) might have me turned around. Metaphorically. Literally. Possibly physically.

i just read this whole thing in one sitting

God bless you. Have I made you blind?

I'm convinced that COACH is manufactured in H-E-youknowwhere and that those salespeople should have little horns and tails. Ahh, temptation. Thy name is COACH.

and hopefully i'll be back before my brain shuts off and i forget every witty comment i wanted to make. and they were witty, i promise.

I believe they are witty. I do!
And for what it's worth, I also believe the Pats are going to make up for last year.
But who knows...

Ladies and gents of this PTR-readin' group:

Not quite sure when the next update will be. Likely next week. Yours truly has been quite ill with a rather nasty summer cold.
I'm now behind on everything and slooooooowly catching up.
Thanks for your patience!

:flower3:

That's my curse. I always end up looking good in the weird colors that look horrid on everyone else. It doesn't make for easy shopping at all.

I know you said you were really looking forward to this one, but honestly I have to agree with the others. I found it meh both times I've seen it. The last time was even more so as you could really tell that they had removed stuff from the show. (The film clips they showed had stunts that they didn't perform in front of you).

Hope your feeling better soon. I had to go to bed early myself last night with a splitting headache. Sick in summer = lousy.

Tink?....Tink??

You around?......you ok??!

We miss you!

I've been awol since...........oh, page 30. Just poppin' in to see what's going on here. Saw this post by LL and HAD to comment.

Totally agree! OMG. Those bleachers are TERRIFYING. I hate them. ::yes::

And, FWIW, I would rather watch every Scooby Doo episode featuring Scrappy Doo than ever sit through LMA again.

Aaaah yes my friends. It's been ages since I last graced the internet space that is the DISboards. And so very much has happened.

Bernie Mac has passed on to a better place, may he rest in peace.

Michael Phelps is one gold away from proving he actually is an advanced audioanimatronic figure.

John Lynch has signed a 1-year deal with the Pats, which BF is super excited about.

I have seen approximately 16 DVR'd episodes of Food Network Challenge, slept late, eaten out, played mini-golf, gone to the zoo and packed.

Yes, packed.

But not the kind of packing you think.

I have no pictures of my nicely arranged toiletries in this lil' mini-update for you. No photos of how meticulously I've packed my close and painfully small amount of shoes in my suitcase for it's inaugural use. Heck, I don't even have luggage tags to show you.

But that's because I haven't been packing for this trip. (Yet. Fear not.)

Rather unexpectedly, BF and I have decided to move. We currently live in a VERY large 3rd floor apartment in the city. It's in a gorgeous house in a pretty nice neighborhood. It's well-kept, has coin laundry in the basement, off-street parking for one car and we have a great landlord who lives onsite. The rent is high for our area, but the apartment is worth it.

Sounds good, you say.
Why move, you ask?

Well, because for about the same amount, we're now the proud renters of a house in the town across the river. Same amount of bedrooms (one of which will be used as a walk-in closet - how excited are my shoes???), living room, dining room, kitchen, basement with FREE washer and dryer, attic storage also, off-street parking for both cars and a yard with a fire pit. It's one street from the water and two blocks from the waterfront park on the quietest street imaginable. We can also walk to a beach and a farmer's stand for fresh fruits and veggies. The only things we're giving up are a dishwasher (we may buy a portable one) and a big bathroom (the new one is very small).

We're very excited. VERY.

So, by this point, you're probably asking what the heck this has to do with Disney and this PTR.

Well...

Tink leaves for Disney the morning of Saturday, 9/20 and returns in the afternoon of 9/28.
BF will get the keys to move in the last full week of September...the week Tink is in Disney.
Rendering her unable to help with the physical move.
Meaning BF is 100% responsible for moving us.
Let's talk about how much eyelash-batting and "I love you"-ing Tink has done this past week.

I offered to cut part of my trip short and move my flight to come home on the 26th but BF wouldn't hear of it. He told me to go and have a good time and he'd have us in by the time I got back on three conditions:

1. I have everything, literally EVERYTHING WE POSSESS packed and labeled before I set foot on the plane to Orlando, that way all he and whomever is helping him move have to do is pick things up and move them to the correct new location with no guessing.

2. I have to arrange new pick-up arrangements from the airport. Done and done. My momma and poppa are going to pick us up, unless BF finishes early and is still sble to move and wants to collect his true love from the airport his own self.

3. I have to return to the old apartment on Monday, 9/29 to commence and complete the final clean-up. Check and check.

So there you have it my friends. I have been DIS MIA for the past week and that's why. I'm typing this now, sitting on my couch looking at a pile of boxes and thinking, "I have FOUR boxes of just hanging pictures?!"

Oh and while we were supposed to head to Six Flags in Jersey for our vacation this week where I would've road-tested some of my Disney items, that plan was nixed due to the new home situation and an unexpected $550 brake job BFs car needed. Mine, unfortunately, also needs brakes. Gr. Argh.

In other PTR-related news, I stepped into our local Disney store this past week and was, well, a little disappointed. I remember when the Disney store was all about Disney things for ALL ages. If I had walked into one more Hannah Montana or High School musical display, I'd have gone blind. I did, however, find a very cute Tink sweatshirt that I was very tempted to purchase, though I held off. I think I'd rather get something in the parks. I also found a thing or two for the gift bags I'm making.

I need to get serious and start making some lists (LL is likely dancing in her chair as she reads this) so that I can be sure everything is done for both the trip and the move since, as far as they're both concerned in my book, they are only

34 days away!!!

Unfortunately, this may mean cutting out a few non-essential trip planning plans but I think I can deal with that. So, I leave you with THE LIST (NOHeroes), Trip Version 1.0 (I'll spare you the moving list):
1. Complete t-shirts.
2. Cash in change for a Disney gift card.
3. Activate rewards card with Disney points.
4. Complete gift bags for Missy and the TK clan.
5. Review packing list for any other essentials to be bought and purchase said missing essentials.
6. Review trip binder materials to ensure all loose ends are tied up and all the necessary information is ready to go.
7. Watch the mailbox for confirmation materials.
8. Pack for the trip.

The last thing I want to share with you is a conversation that Missy had with her sister, who just returned from a Disneymoon at the Beach Club:

Missy: So you had a good time?
Missy's Sis: Yes. The resort was beautiful. Oh and on one of our last days we went to the Polynesian to eat. You HAVE to go there.
Missy: Um. I'm sort of staying there.
Missy's Sis: Wow! Well then there's this place you HAVE to go for breakfast...
Missy: Yeah, we're all over that.
Missy's Sis: Oh and you simply must order...
Missy: Tonga Toast. Roger that. Nik's got it all set up.

:goodvibes

How COOL is the new place!?!!

And how KEWL is the BF for doing all the moving for you!!! He's a keeper. Don't let that one go!

I am starting to get the very strong urge to pack myself. Not pack-myself, but pack, myself. If I were in the suitcase I couldn't do much else.

Like make some lists!!! That'll surely knock the Lal right off her seat! I'm still not into the months-before-we-go-list-everything-out kind of lists. But now that we're coming down to the wire (22 days!!!!!!!!!!!), I'm starting to list out all the stuff I want to pack in the carry-on, the stuff that needs doing in the week before we go, the stuff that needs doing in the house before we leave for a week....that sort of thing.

But they are lists! :thumbsup2

Tink, I am so happy for you and BF! That apartment sounds really awesome. :thumbsup2 What a great BF to move you guys while you enjoy your Disney Trip.

First Tink is making lists and now Legomom. There is not a smilie that properly conveys my excitement over this. :upsidedow

Congratulations on the new place. It sounds awesome! I've always wanted to live close to the water. And BF sounds like a keeper as well. :)

Great news on renting a new house! BF's requests for the move sound very reasonable and doable. I agree; he's a keeper! :goodvibes:

And Missy's convo with her sister is too hilarious. Clearly Missy's sis is not a DISer. She shall have to be converted. :lmao:
