That Pirate Stole My Tiara: The Pre-Trip Report

Hey girlie. Just dropping in to say that I require an update.

And to sweeten the pot, I just bestowed upon you my 2,000th post.

Feel the love, baby. Feel the love.

However, we're going in October with the in-laws...:faint: Consider yourselves forewarned.

:woohoo:

coughcoughmeetwithTKbeforesheleavescoughcough...

Now THERE is an idea. And I haven't ever seen the WL. Hmmm...

You can do what I do. Surround yourself with people who are older than you, and then end up feeling not young, but slightly inadequate. I'm still waiting for someone younger than me to join my workplace.

I recently became the "middle child" of our office group. I feel so Jan Brady.

My other favorite is twilight. Love it!!!

That is also a great time of day in the World. One other that happens to be a favorite is right after an afternoon thunderstorm when everything is wet and cooled down and it seems as if the World is "waking up" again.

And I love the new collage in your siggie!!!

Tink sorry about that little hijack - I had another thought for your mornings... boating! I don't how early they start running, but taking a boat to the GF whilst sipping some tea or coffee might be fun. :thumbsup2

That is a good idea. I've done that once or twice on the boats when I was at the Swolphin. I'll have to look into it.

Hey girlie. Just dropping in to say that I require an update.

Hopefully today. I've got some trip-related tasks to get done that I can hopefully post about. :thumbsup2

And to sweeten the pot, I just bestowed upon you my 2,000th post.

How special do I feel right now?!?!

Now THERE is an idea. And I haven't ever seen the WL. Hmmm...
May I point out it would be possible to take a boat to get there? And since you're on your way, why don't you just swing by MK, pick up Captain Jack, raid the Dole Whip stand, and we'll do up my last day in style!:rotfl2:

I recently became the "middle child" of our office group. I feel so Jan Brady.
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Hopefully today. I've got some trip-related tasks to get done that I can hopefully post about. :thumbsup2
WOO HOO!

How special do I feel right now?!?!
I hope very special, cause you are.

I recently became the "middle child" of our office group. I feel so Jan Brady.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

TK beat me to it!

I think the only time I ever saw that very special episode of the Brady Bunch was in grade school, when we were learning about jealousy and how it eats at your soul.

Well, those weren't my teacher's exact words, but the thought was there.

While I know I've made an "unofficial" list of things to get done prior to this trip happening in 2 months, 2 weeks and 5 days (Woohoo!), I thought it would be smart to make and "OFFICIAL" list. Because time seems to be escaping me, as is always the case the closer the trip gets.

Thankfully, all of the big ticket stuff (sans booking our return flight - I KNOW!) is done and done. So I don't have any of that to worry about. The only small wrench that has been thrown in the plans is to figure out what to do on our Pleasure Island night. Since Disney has decided it's simply a FANTABULOUS idea to remove all nightlife from the World with the exception of the Boardwalk's offerings. "And," squawk Disney execs, "what would be the *perfect* things with which to replace said closed establishments?!?! MORE shopping and dining!" ::lovingly pats extra fat money clip::

No. I'm not bitter.

It's not like I'm in love with PI or anything. I'm not. Really I was just looking forward to a night out on the Island with Missy. A night that would rival the one Bekka and I had, tipsy with our rum-filled PI cups, bustin' a move to Ludacris in the BET club and then sashaying on over to whatever club those Irish guys were in that wouldn't leave us be.

Not bitter.

A little sad.

Kind of hungry (though I'm guessing that has nothing to do with PI shutting down).

ANYWAY.

Back to the list.

As life so often gets overwhelming, I do well with lists. And so, a Disney Trip To-Do list (which I shall dedicate to LL and her new hubby as a wedding present):

1. Book the return flight home - I have my reasons for stalling on this. I'm really kind of hoping for a better rate flying into Providence instead of Hartford. I'm not really sold on the inconvenience for the lower price. But I'm only going to wait a couple more days and then I'll book. I promise.
2. Sign and return the confirmation form to Happy Limo.
3. Cash in the change that I've been saving and turn into a Disney gift card for use on appetizers, drinks and souvenirs. I also still have the GC that was sent to me when I signed up for my Disney VISA.
4.Purchase one additional pair of Croc flippies - I'm all sorts of quandrified about this one. See, Tink has decided that since luggage space is limited, that she simply cannot bring 7+ pairs of shoes.
:faint:

:worried: Wha? Where am I? Can't bring 7+ pairs of shoes?

:faint:

Ahem. So, I'm only going to bring two pairs of Crocs, my Puma sneakers (they're smaller, suitcase-squishable and cooler) and one pair of "cute" sandals (read: I likely wouldn't be able to wear them for more than a couple hours). However, I don't know if I want a pair of the canvas Capri style or the Crete style, seen here and here (though only the first one is a color I'm considering). I know they look the same but the second one actually isn't canvas. It's either a leather-type or nylon-type material. I don't remember. I just remember being an 8 in one and a 9 in the other, which I thought was a wee bit odd (Speaking of wee - where's 2SP? Is this her holiday week?):
crocs_capri_canvas.jpg
crocs_crete_canvas.jpg

(If only there were some long lost budget-savvy relative of mine who could tutor me in the ways of discount codes for shoebuy.com.....)

5. Determine which bag I will be using as a carry-on and if no such bag is located or deemed "worthy" of carry-on status, purchase new carry-on bag. I have a very cute VS bag that I'd like to use, but I have to make sure it's not too big. Said bag needs to be able to hold my laptop, books, a magazine or three, snackies and my iPod. Oh, and have a little extra room for souvies too precious to be checked in my luggage on the way home...::coughcoughcoughJackSparrowcoughsnifflecough:: AND meet the SW carry-on size requirements.
6. Lose 10 lbs. ::sigh::
7. Get the trip binder decorumacated and all put together. It has its pretty new cover but is still lacking its innards. Hmm. Maybe a good project for this weekend.
8. Decorate my trip journal. I will be carrying a tiny lil' Moleskin notebook with me in my wristlet. They are the perfect size to jot down quick notes in and still fit in my rather fashionable bag:
squared.jpg

As one can see here, it truly is small-ish. I use one to track my daily WW points.
9. Figuring out the whole costume issue. I really hoped to be on top of this one but it seems like, well...I'm not. We're not. And we might be costume-less. Which I'm semi-OK with. I will at least have made shirts for us to wear.
10.
...wait, back to 9...
We won't ONLY be wearing shirts. That I've made. For us to wear. We will also be wearing shorts. And some shoes. Because I like Disney and have no intentions of being tossed for indecent exposure.
We were saving that for the PI night.
Kidding.
Mostly.

::ahem::

10. Call and request the Tokelau building at the Poly.
11. Make above-mentioned shirts.
12. Confirm airport transportation from home - this one is partially waiting on booking the return flight. If we can get into Providence for less than the cost of a small mobile home, BF will probably pick us up. If we fly into Hartford it will be a non-issue as we'll be driving ourselves home. I'd also like BF to take us to the airport on the Saturday morning that we leave, but he works Saturdays and so this likely won't happen. So I need to call mommy. Or daddy. Or my dear, sweet brother who so totally owes me for the time that I didn't tell my parents he put the hole in the wall by skateboarding in his room. ::cough::
13. Put together gift bags for Missy and, um, for other people. MOOVING ON...

My brain has now gone blank. So that either means that:
a.) I've listed everything that needed a'listin' or
b.) It's around 2 p.m. when I normally hit my afternoon slump.

2:40 p.m.

Wouldja look at that.

Harumph.

I'm hoping I can get a good chunk of this accomplished in the next few days considering I have a 5-day weekend ahead of me beginning on Thursday. And two whole days of that to myself. I really have no excuses not to get a good bit done.

Except.

You haven't seen my "Clean the House" list.

Which puts the list above to shame.

::sigh::

Where's my Fairy Godmother?

.....
::sigh::

Where's my Fairy Godmother?

I'm borrowing her. On account of the fact that I need me some pixie dust today. Bad, bad day at work. First one in the 8-1/2 months I've been there, though! But still bad.

I also need me one of them itty bitty journals! I'm trying SO hard to be a minimalist on this trip in regards to schlepping stuff around the parks (is that a Zzub word???!...oh no wait, that would be "schpuppin!" :rotfl: ) ANYWHO! That there little notebook would fit perfectly into my PassHolder! I was thinking of taking the daily PassPockets out of my PassPorter and folding them in thirds to fit them in the back of the PassHolder, but I'm liking this notebook even better!

Hmm....I'm sounding like my own PTR, which I haven't started yet, so I need to get outta here and keep this stuff for later!!

Great list by the way. Except for having return air fare as a still-to-do on it.....:sad2:

:cool2:

.

Great list! I wish I had a list like that because it would mean I was going to the World soon. Alas, I have no lists...only a to-do list for the house...which actually has things like go to the gas station and make chocolate-chip cookies on it. I'm not even kidding -- that's what it says right now. Anyway, that is a super awesome list! :goodvibes

:lmao: When you locate her could you please send her over here please.;)

:thumbsup2

RAWR! Bad days = serious suckage. I'm sorry work was not kind. I hope your day gets better.

I know you can get them online, but they're cheaper at Borders. A 3-pack is about $10. I love them! There's also a slightly larger version (about the same width but taller) that I use as an everyday journal. They're great. They even have a little pocket in the back cover. You could totally slip receipts in there. That's my plan.

Great list by the way. Except for having return air fare as a still-to-do on it.....:sad2:

I know, I know. I'm on it.

Alas, I have no lists...only a to-do list for the house...which actually has things like go to the gas station and make chocolate-chip cookies on it.

I wish my list had 'make chocolate-chip cookies' on it.
Because 'clean shower' and 'wash bathroom floor' don't have quite the same appeal.

While I know I've made an "unofficial" list of things to get done prior to this trip happening in 2 months, 2 weeks and 5 days (Woohoo!), I thought it would be smart to make and "OFFICIAL" list.
Ooooo...the OFFICIAL list...

everyone, put on your sunglasses quick, before we become blinded by its awesomeness!;)

No. I'm not bitter.
Not at all.

Not bitter.
Hmm...deja vu? Where have I seen that cat before?

As life so often gets overwhelming, I do well with lists. And so, a Disney Trip To-Do list (which I shall dedicate to LL and her new hubby as a wedding present):
I don't think there's a finer gift for LL and her new DH than a list!:lmao:

Truthfully, I'm partial to the Capri style. But also because I've been coveting those myself.:lmao:

(If only there were some long lost budget-savvy relative of mine who could tutor me in the ways of discount codes for shoebuy.com.....)

Oh, I love a discount challenge!!!! This calls for more research, dear sis. I will happily post once I found you beacoup codage.

5. Oh, and have a little extra room for souvies too precious to be checked in my luggage on the way home...::coughcoughcoughJackSparrowcoughsnifflecough:: AND meet the SW carry-on size requirements.
That's some tough protocol for a bag right there. Be sure to check with the FAA website, 'kay?

6. Lose 10 lbs. ::sigh::
You can do it, I have faith in you.

7. Get the trip binder decorumacated and all put together. It has its pretty new cover but is still lacking its innards. Hmm. Maybe a good project for this weekend.
This is one of my goals as well. Oddly, I keep DISing and not printing anything. Go figure.

9. Figuring out the whole costume issue. I really hoped to be on top of this one but it seems like, well...I'm not. We're not. And we might be costume-less. Which I'm semi-OK with. I will at least have made shirts for us to wear.

12. Or my dear, sweet brother who so totally owes me for the time that I didn't tell my parents he put the whole in the whole wall by skateboarding in his room. ::cough::

Oh good lord! Weird thing in common #1089.a! :::ahem::: There may just have been a hole in our living room wall one time my sister and I were home alone together. And it may just have been her fault. But I could neither confirm nor deny the presence of said hole, because I was in my room at the time. :rolleyes1

13. Put together gift bags for Missy and, um, for other people. MOOVING ON...

Ooo, goody, goody gumdrops!

Wait...did you mean us...

because if you didn't that would just be awkward.

:rolleyes1

:yay:

My brain has now gone blank. So that either means that:
a.) I've listed everything that needed a'listin' or
b.) It's around 2 p.m. when I normally hit my afternoon slump.

2:40 p.m.

Wouldja look at that.

Harumph.

Note to self...Lapu Lapu Fest is dangerously close to said afternoon slump...hopefully regimen of relaxation at GF Spa will remedy said affliction...if not...ply Tink and Missy with alcohol so as to relieve any lethargic behavior. Then pick up a crew at the Poly, make my way to the MK, and kidnap...

:confused3

Sorry, I got sidetracked.;)

Where's my Fairy Godmother?

fg.jpg

Right here, hon! Although she seems a bit busy with that dress...perhaps she could move on to your MNSSHP costumes next!:goodvibes

And two whole days of that to myself
.
Is it sad that I envy your 2 whole days to yourself.....enjoy them!

I have a couple suggestion for you non-PI PI night. You can Missy could take a taxi to Universal's City Walk.....I did that with a girlfriend years ago and we had a blast. Started at the "beach" bar....dinner at the Jimmy Buffett place....then club hopped before ending up at the dueling piano bar O'Briens I think it's called. Much fun was consumed ;)

Or for something lower key you can go to the Boardwalk area and hit up the ESPN bar....then Jellyrolls dueling piano bar and Atlantic Dance Hall too.

(I have a thing for dueling piano bars can you tell?)

I wish my list had 'make chocolate-chip cookies' on it.
Because 'clean shower' and 'wash bathroom floor' don't have quite the same appeal.

Those were the things I had to do on Sunday :(. My hips will not thank me for those cookies afterwards :(.

I second Heidi's Jellyrolls idea -- we have/had (no idea if it still is there) in Atlanta and it was my FAVORITE place to hang out on the weekends!!! I am telling you it is all about crowd participation and just TONS of fun!!!

Truthfully, I'm partial to the Capri style. But also because I've been coveting those myself.:lmao:

In what color? I'm thinking that I really like me some of that coral color:
crocs244350_137519_jb.jpg

But my left brain is telling me the brown or black would be so much more sensible.

Oh, I love a discount challenge!!!! This calls for more research, dear sis. I will happily post once I found you beacoup codage.

Nice. So far you're only up against V's 15% discount code with the Entertainment book.

That's some tough protocol for a bag right there. Be sure to check with the FAA website, 'kay?

I'll make sure Jack empties out his rum bottle so as not to break the 3oz. of liquid rule.

Ooo, goody, goody gumdrops!

Wait...did you mean us...

because if you didn't that would just be awkward.

:rolleyes1

:yay:

No. I meant that OTHER really neat, long lost, pirate obsessed, family of 3 I've recently become acquainted with here on the DISboards.

A'course you guys, silly!

Note to self...Lapu Lapu Fest is dangerously close to said afternoon slump...hopefully regimen of relaxation at GF Spa will remedy said affliction...if not...ply Tink and Missy with alcohol so as to relieve any lethargic behavior.

Won't. Be. A. Problem. ;)

Right here, hon! Although she seems a bit busy with that dress...perhaps she could move on to your MNSSHP costumes next!:goodvibes

That Cinderella sure is selfish when it comes to her FG. She really needs to learn how to share. Instead she's all, "Wah, wah, my dress my shoes!"

...

Ok, well maybe that last part sounds a little like me.

Is it sad that I envy your 2 whole days to yourself

You have a little one. So the default answer to that is a resounding NO.

Or for something lower key you can go to the Boardwalk area and hit up the ESPN bar....then Jellyrolls dueling piano bar and Atlantic Dance Hall too.

(I have a thing for dueling piano bars can you tell?)

I think this might be a good idea. It's a great fit for Missy. She's a piano bar/karaoke kind of gal.

Nice. So far you're only up against V's 15% discount code with the Entertainment book.
AH, but you dont' even need the book, or the card - just the code. ;)

Oh, and FWIW, I looooove my Capris! SO much so, that I now own them in thre colors.

In what color? I'm thinking that I really like me some of that coral color:
crocs244350_137519_jb.jpg

But my left brain is telling me the brown or black would be so much more sensible.

When did sensible start hanging out with shoe? I say get the coral!

Coral is WAY cute. You only live once! You have a 15% off code! (Meet devil's advocate.)

And your list... OH your list! I need to make a dozen lists and haven't done a single one yet. Sigh.

I might be more listing-motivated if Disney would put the HOURS OUT FOR NEXT JANUARY!

But I'm not impatient.

In what color? I'm thinking that I really like me some of that coral color:
crocs244350_137519_jb.jpg

But my left brain is telling me the brown or black would be so much more sensible.

Oh, I love an opportunity to live vicariously through other people's fashion choices.

Do you already have a black and brown? Do you have any coral colored clothes that would match this sandal? White clothes? Any colors that coordinate with it?

I like the coral, it's fun and happy and says Tink.

But I am boring. Typically, I will always pick black. However, last year, I surprised myself by getting a light green sandal with white accents. Go figure.

Nice. So far you're only up against V's 15% discount code with the Entertainment book.
Are you already registerd on their site?

I'll make sure Jack empties out his rum bottle so as not to break the 3oz. of liquid rule.

Jack: But why is the rum gone love?
Tink: Well, you see Cap'n, there's a limit as too how much liquid you can bring aboard an airplane.
Jack: Bring me my ship!

No. I meant that OTHER really neat, long lost, pirate obsessed, family of 3 I've recently become acquainted with here on the DISboards.

OH.:guilty:

A'course you guys, silly!
:headache: Doh! Shouldv'e known it was us.;)
Because let's just face it if you met some other really neat long lost pirate obsessed family of three I'd be pretty darn surprised. Not that those type of people don't exist...since we in fact are them but it would just be odd considering how obsessed with pirates we are having seen all three films and pretty much brainwashing...I mean encouraging the boy to love all things pirate to the point where we took him swimming for the first time this summer and he could be heard to say, "I love swimming in the ocean with Jack Sparrow."

:::coughcoughLONGSENTENCEcoughcough:::

I've been to JellyRolls and it's awesome! I recommend for you guys, I think you'd have a blast.
