That Pirate Stole My Tiara: The Pre-Trip Report

3 days! I'm so excited for you!

And love the nail polish!

Thanks. I'm a little giddy this afternoon, actually. It's a nice feeling.

Three days -- that's like 72 hours!!!

You inspired me to perform a little exercise.
::ahem:: I leave for Disney (as in I leave my house to head to the airport) in exactly 63 hours and 7 minutes!

Yes, much better, thank you! Very pretty, I bet it's more beautiful in person. I'm imagining it in the bright Florida sun (no rain), sparkling and shimmering and bringing you all kinds of Disney magic...ahh. :cloud9:

It is really pretty. Like I said, it's sheer. My nails are on the shortish side, nothing really beyond an 1/8th of an inch over my fingertips, and they are all mine but with a fiberglass wrap. So, when the color's on (two coats), it looks like my nails are "blushing" and sparkly.

Love the color!

Thanks! I can't wait to have it on my toes too.

Not long to go now :) Have a great trip.

Aww thanks. And welcome (I think...sorry, it's been a lot of pages) from over on one of the tag threads. :goodvibes And HEY! We'll be in Disney at the same time!!!

So we've had a change in the non-Disney plans. We can't go see the house tonight because of my nail appointment and tomorrow is out because our new landlord has an appointment, so we have to go on Friday night. I really didn't want to push it that close to the trip but what choice do I have? It's alright, we just wanted to have a couple of days to talk through furniture placement and such. Ah well, I'm just happy it's all worked out.

We have also semi-made a decision about what we're going to do on the Friday we check out of the Poly ( :sad1: ). Instead of doing another park, we're going to sleep in, take our sweet time packing and checking out and then Missy's sister will pick us up for an afternoon of OUTLET SHOPPING!!! Um, this may hurt my wallet more than Disney! LOL

Seriously, this girl loves her some COACH. Bring on the COACH. Last year Missy came home with a $275 bag and a $100 wallet for a whopping total of $107!!!. 70% savings anyone?

I may need to buy COACH luggage to bring home all of my new purchases!

I was originally hoping to spend the day saying good-bye to the parks, but I'm ok with the outlet day instead. As a matter of fact, I think it will help with the Disney Decompression. You know how immediately upon returning home you feel like you need a vacation from your Disney vacation? THAT'S what I call the Disney Decompression Period (DDP - NODisneyDiningPlan). It normally precedes Post Disney Depression* (PDD - NOPMDD).

After shopping, my guess is we'll either grab dinner in Orlando or head up to Tampa and have dinner there. Then it's another full day of relaxation before coming home.

Coming home.
To unpack.

Unpacking.

Perish the thought.

*I know this discussion was had on another thread, perhaps the Lapuette thread? I'm not the person that coined the PDD term and I'd love to give credit where it's due.

Well different Disney parks but still Disney at the same time lol :)

I loved your home depot chapter, it had me stitches lol.

Morning all and welcome to

THERE'S ONLY TWO DAYS LEFT TIL DISNEY AND I'M WEARING MY GIDDY PANTS TODAY!!!

Just sayin'.

::ahem::

So, first things first and second things second:

TWO DAY LIST

"Two Bits of Disney Magic I'm Hoping For But Have Hitherto Gone Unmentioned."
2. An upgrade to the concierge building at the Poly (however if they can at least honor my request for the Tokelau building I'll be as happy as a clam (why clams, by the way? Are clams particularly happy?)
1. A little bit of Dream Squad magic - I mean really, who wouldn't want to be awarded with a night in the castle or DVC or a trip? But really, what I'd LOVE would be those special light blue YOAMD Mickey ears.

And now your regularly scheduled trivia:

2 Days!!
Walt's brother Roy proposed to his wife Edna via telegram.

And I have to relate this little story to you before I get to the meat of today's update.

I was on the train last night when two people sitting across the aisle from me had the following conversation (and no, it's technically NOT eavesdropping when the people are talking LOUD enough for them to be heard six cars down...::sigh:: )

Lady: I just got back from vacation.
Dude: Oh? Where'd you go?
Lady: Disney in Florida.
Dude: Nice. Did you stay onsite?
Lady:Port Orleans. It was nice.
Dude: Nice. Never stayed there. I usually stay at the Swan or the Dolphin. Did you hear they built a bunch of rooms in the castle?
Lady: Yeah. You can't walk through the castle anymore.
Dude: Yeah, I bet those rooms are booked for the next 10 years. They probably go for a few thousand a night.
(My Disney geek runs so deep that I was having an internal hissy fit at this point.)
Lady: I know. Besides. Who would want to do that? Disney gets so boring after a while.
Dude: Yeah. I went on one trip where all we did was Disney. I never need to go again.

I was actually praying for packing tape at that point.
To restrain myself. From going apoplectic.
Multiple, rentable rooms in the Castle for thousands a night?
Can't walk through the Castle? (I guess Scotty just has to beam you up to dinner at CRT.)
Disney...boring?
My internal Disney geek was huffing and arranging the Mickey pens in her pocket protector and pushing her glasses up onto her nose with some force (NOTheForce :yoda: ) let me tell you!
But, I didn't know these people and at the end of a rather long work day I didn't have the strength or even the desire to impart some Disney knowledge on them.

::sigh::

Maybe next time.

I will warn you, I don't know how long of an update I will be able to post tomorrow since I have a carp-ton of stuff between tonight, a half-day at work tomorrow, a walk-thru of the house tomorrow night and a carp-ton of stuff after that. What I'm saying is that tomorrow's update will likely be posted early, will be short and sweet and will have a nice surprise for y'all. Something I've been looking forward to telling you. And NO. You can't know now. You just have to wait for tomorrow.

Neener, neener.

I know something you don't know.

So does TK, but she's not here to let the cat out of the bag.
funny-pictures-your-bag-has-an-angry.jpg

And I likely won't have time to do a final update before I head out early Saturday morning either. Particularly since I will need to leave extra early to pick up coffees for me, for my mom, and to fortify Missy until she can pass out for 3 hours on the plane.

SO.

Today you get my "final pre-trip thoughts" chapter.

This might get a little sappy.
You have been warned.

When I started this PTR months upon months ago, I knew a couple of things - I was going to Disney and if I couldn't write about it ahead of time my head might literally implode.

What I didn't know was that my writing would result in one of the greatest gifts God (or the Powers that Be...or the Big Bang...or evolution...whatever your cup of tea is) can grant us.

Friendship.

I have met SO MANY wonderful people thanks to some words I tossed onto the net earlier this year. Y'all are funny, intelligent, caring, beautiful people. And it doesn't hurt that you like Disney too. This life isn't really worth living without the other people in it and so by "meeting" all of you, it's really made MY life feel more full and worthwhile. I hope I bring to your lives a fraction of what you've brought to mine.

I wish I could meet every single one of you in person someday, perhaps in the very place we all share a love for. So many people criticize, laugh at or even dislike Disney. I say this, if it's something that brings people together, people who otherwise likely never would've met, and it inspires friendship and laughter, something this world is in desperate need of these days, it's ok in my book.

There are many things for which I'm thankful - my health, my job, my family and friends, the ability to take this trip, all of YOU. While Disney is a place to have fun, it often puts into perspective other things in Life for me - people I've lost and people I still have. While nothing could fully fill the hole left behind when those people move on to whatever is waiting for us next, I'm happy to say that there is a comfortable padding that new friends provide, something that dulls that ache which is just as irreplaceable as those no longer with me. I'm grateful for you all in ways I could never convey in words.

Thank you for reading this lil pre-trippie of mine. Thanks for laughing with me, crying with me, and thank you in advance for confirming my alibi (FYI-"I was DISing) when Disney Dining comes looking to serve me with a restraining order. My only goal, in terms of having people reading this report, was to put a smile on your faces and laughter in your hearts.

Happiness is the strongest medicine.

Thanks for being my daily dose.

:flower3:

Okay, that LOL cat made me just about pee my pants! (Granted, I've already had a large Diet Coke from McDonalds', but still...) It just looks so ticked off!

And if all of you going on trips soon don't quit writing so much sentimental stuff, I'm going to have to buy more Kleenex! I'm such an emotional mess. :sad2:

*Sniff Sniff*

That was beautifully said.

I actually knew about Roy proposing through Telegram! Isn't that too funny? In the book I just read they said that Roy was mad at Walt and that's what prompted the proposal or to some effect like that. I think their business was not going well at the time.

In case I miss you over the next few days.....we have a busy weekend ahead....

Have a safe and wonderful vacation! Soak up the magic and enjoy yourself!

This means I will have to check the Disboards before work!!!! I can't wait to hear all about it :goodvibes

I knew that was comming :lmao:

Oh... and please don't drink ALL the rum... can you and TK save some for me and my crew when we drink our way around the world on Saturday night! :drinking:

I get SO irritated when I hear people dis (NotDIS!) Disney because of some fabricated nonsense, or because they wore themselves out touring the parks commando style for 7 days straight or something. It's not the fault of Disney that you're a nincompoop and can't figure out that you're going to be exhausted if you run from ride to ride for any extended amount of time and will end up eating only burgers and fries because you didn't make ADR's, etc. My Dh's friend from school did this - he heard about me in my Mad Planner mode for Disney in January and decided he and his new wife would go. The following weekend. They went for 2 1/2 days, only did three parks, made no ADR's and complained that they don't know how you could spend 8 days there, they saw everything in two days, and it was just 'eh'. I was :headache:   :sad2: :sad1: :mic: :furious: :faint: (and I love that I can emote my dismay at their silliness).

And you only have TWO DAYS!

You had to go and get sappy didn't you. What did I do with my box of kleenex?

My only goal, in terms of having people reading this report, was to put a smile on your faces and laughter in your hearts.

You've made me smile with each and every update.

And I'll remind Mickey to send Liam a postcard!

The giddy pants look great!!!!!

Thanks. They're just my size.

Ugh. I am proud that you didn't beat that guy senseless with your Disney knowledge.

Believe me. The mental willpower used was so great I'm sure TK felt a disturbance in the Force. :darth:

 You totally made me tear up!!!! Thank you for writing this PTR. I am glad to call you friend....

I hope that you have a great time at Disney and I will be here anxiously awaiting your TR when you get back!

I GUESS.

Mission Accomplished.
:cue Bond music:

Of course you do! :goodvibes

That COACH outlet won't know what hit them.

Ya big ole sap you! Nicely said!

Have a great, wonderful, magical trip!!!

I will. Thanks!
(Oh. And evertime I see your avatar I think, "It's Camo Minnie!")

I have been working my way through your PTR and I just love it! I wanted to tell ya to have a great time and by the time you get back, I should be all caught up and ready for the TR. HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!! Hi! :wave2: Welcome. Glad you're enjoying yourself and this lil' PTR of mine. Can't wait to be telling Disney stories!!!

Ok that was far too much emotional range for one post.....first I'm peeing my pants over the "angry bag".....:lmao: .....then I'm all kinds of sappy with you over your friendship musings....:sad1:

*ahem*
(composing myself)

I also think that if Dude had perhaps done Disney for more than that one trip, he might have a clue. Very proud of you for keeping quiet. Can't say I would have done the same. Nothin' like a Disney hissy-fit, y'know? I find that the uninformed are either humorous or annoying as heck. Dude was clearly the latter.

Not that Lady was much better...

ANYWHO!!! I'm going to be on here tomorrow morning awaiting your "announcement".

Way to keep us on the edge of our PTR-reading seats, Tink!
