That Fantasy can't steal our Magic! March 30, 2012

It was just sleeting outside!
This cruise and the warm weather can't come fast enough.

oh yea another DD 13. Addie will be so excited. she is already emailing one new friend. She would love to get to know others her age. I can PM you her email address if you like.

Kate

My DD would LOVE to get to know her!
On our last cruise, Tess had an account on here and she befriended 3 wonderful girls and they became friends instantly! After they met up, we probably saw her at dinner, 1 AM, and when we would dock somewhere :)

My daughter had already contacted her as it turns out:) And I read this to her, and she had not known that the EDGE is 11-13 and the Vibe includes 13 as well? Was that the case or a mis-type? She said she would feel a bit intimidated by the older kids in the Vibe if she had the choice to be in.
And thank you Cindy for summing up the FE for me, I appreciate it very much!

Hi. Yes, our DD's have been emailing/facebooking. I guess I forgot.
Regarding ages for the clubs, check out this link
http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/youth-clubs/vibe/
It starts out saying "ideal place for teens ages 14 to 17" for Vibe but then if you look further under "Activites at the Vibe" it says "Vibe hosts a wide range of fun activities for teen cruisers ages 13 to 17." But everywhere else, including the other ships, it says Vibe is for 14-17, so I'm sure that's accurate.
Edge clearly says 11-13 - much to the dismay of my 10 yr old!
I hear the clubs are getting more strict about only letting in the intended age ranges too.

The flights around spring break are ridiculous. I accidently entered 2/23 on the Frontier website and found one-way tickets for $139 instead of ~$300, then I realized I had entered the wrong date.

I got our tickets through Southwest. I am really ticked off at myself though. I had been watching a couple of flights and the prices weren't changing, so I was waiting. I checked back last week and the tickets for one-way had gone up $50 EACH since I had checked the week before. I booked right then.

BTW, where are you from in Florida? I lived in Ocala for 6 years and my sister lives North of Tampa.

We haven't booked yet, just got back from Florida, we were there for Christmas. It is always pricey to fly to Florida, but hey its Florida!

Small world, my family is from Ocala and Daytona Beach, husband is from Ormand Beach.

Yup, there's a whole thread on this too, but it started getting nasty, people all fired up over how DCL should handle children with disabilities. I posted, asking if anyone has experience with our situation. Ally will be 10 when we board and turn 11 the next day. Will she be in Oceaneers Lab or the Edge??? Nobody ever answered. They were all too busy arguing..... :sad2:

The Magic in March, wow is my gang excited! I had to let the Holidays pass and final payment be made before I could let myself get really excited, and I am so excited! This sounds like an awesome group and we want to be part of the FE also.Traveling this time is:

I will keep you posted on the stateroom number because, as of now, only DH knows. My DD would love to make a few friends before the cruise.

Sorry about asking, but can someone please explain the whole Fish Extender thing to me? I'm very new to the disboards, but this is my second cruise.

OK, I need stateroom#, email address, family last name, names of all in cabin, and ages of children. I will then send you my email address and your DH can send the cabin# to me?

80 days!!!!

Wow - only 80 more days?! :cool1: I cannot wait. The snow yesterday was pretty but a tad disappointing since it amounted to nothing. Then add work in and well I am ready for this cruise. I am ready to be totally unplugged for a few days.

welcome!!! so excited to meet you! you are so gonna love the Disney Cruise. This is our second and I think in some ways we are way more excited this time.

You are right there is a ton of information. This board is great to getting questions answered and sifting through large amounts of data.

Welcome:dance3:

You will love it and your kids are perfect ages for it! I am the "old lady" of Disney cruises as this will be our 8th cruise. My son's first trip was when he was 4 and now he is 17 but he still insists on going Disney!!!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Sheryl

wow Sheryl - I just looked at your signature line. holy cow. I am jealous. :)
and 8 cruises. how have things changed? Do you still get really excited? Is it all old hat now?

kate

Okay so it is really snowing here and I'm warming up by doing some cruise planning! Love the boards, really helps me get excited out the trip and I love to plan. Has anyone done the turtle farm and dolphin swim in GC? I have always wanted to swim dolphins and thought this might be the place to do it.

Welcome Frebo5!

Sheryl, if we bump into each other on board I would love to pick your brain about the Med cruises. I am hoping to book on board for one, assuming the 2013 dates will be out by then. Taking the kids to Europe is something we really want to do but my DH says he'd rather plan our own trip there (hotels, transportation, locations, etc). But the thing is, I know we'll never, ever get around to it. DH claims we'll see more if we don't go via cruise ship, so if you see him on board, plz tell him that's not true!

Kate -- Funny thing is each time is more exciting than the last! And we discover new things everytime we cruise. Things haven't really changed that much except for the food has gotten better!

Definitely we will have to talk! There is nothing like cruising Disney. They offer a wide variety of excusions and you can see a lot of the sights without having to pack and unpack. You also get some things that regular tourists don't get. In Rome we did the private tour of the vatican - it was pricey but worth every penny! They allowed only those from the Disney ship into the Vatican museum after it closed and Disney was allowed to bring in their photographers. My son and I have a beautiful piture of us in the Sistine Chapel with Ceiling behind us -- Priceless! I can't rave enough -- Disney should pay me!!!:rotfl2:

Thank you for the warm welcome! Reading through the forum feeds my excitement. The kids don't know yet and are going to be so thrilled.

@Khrist68
We signed up for the dolphin and turtle farm. I would love to hear feedback too.

Nicole

I loved doing the Mediterranean with Disney. It was my first time in Europe and having Disney take care of everything (flight, hotel, excursions, money exchange) was the best choice I feel we could have made. I hope I get the chance to do it again in the future! ;)

Chankannab is great! we love going there. stairs into water and great snorkeling. prices for food and drink were not bad at all. there is a shopping area but not like the guantlet when you get off the ship. We enjoy it there. That said we are doing Nachi this time.

Kate

Thanks Kate! It's good to have a first-hand report!
