That awful coffee-like beverage in WDW...

After a wonderful trip with several outstanding meals last week, I can't get over just how horrible the coffee in WDW is. It's bad, really, really bad.

I've read on the boards that this substance comes from a liquid concentrate. Totally believable because this swill does not taste as though it was brewed.

I think it's almost criminal that Disney would serve this nasty beverage at the conclusion of what was an otherwise tasty, high-end meal.

I realize that Nestle is a big Disney sponsor and the warm liquid being served is some kind of Nestle product, but boy, it's not doing anybody any good to force it down Disney's guests' throats. I can't imagine anyone coming home from a Disney trip and saying, "Let's buy some Nescafe so we drink more of that stuff." It tastes so bad! Disney needs to get a sponsorship for some real coffee and let Nestle handle their chocolate or something else.

Would anyone here happen to have an E-mail address for whoever is charge of Disney World restaurants? I really want to write and express my disgust over it.

I understand they serve instant coffee in all but a couple places. The writers cafe in hollywood studios for one, does have the real thing. I believe Ohanas also does.

:rotfl: :rotfl2:

You are so right. The coffee is just awful. I will only really drink it from the stand by Kona cafe at the poly or the France pavilion in EPCOT or from my own room with my own coffee!

There is word that Nestle may not be continuing it's sponsorship of The Land. I've been wondering, if that comes to pass, what will happen to the coffee situation? Nestle also owns Edys Ice Cream. So what happens to the Fountainview Cafe or Main Street Ice Cream Shoppe? Hmmm - it could be interesting...

I know I'm in the minority (actually I'm probably the only one), but I LIKE the coffee at WDW. The food court coffee has always been good to me, and I do love coffee. Put some creamer in there and it's fine. ;)

Yeah, places like Kona have SUPERB coffee. But for a regular old cup of morning joe - I don't have any problem with the Nestle stuff.:thumbsup2

And I come from the land of Tim Horton's - the coffee of the Gods - I know good coffee.:thumbsup2

Now, I haven't had any of the coffee in the food courts or at the restaurants, but I do LOVE the coffee that is in the room. It IS NOT by Nescafe and it has a great flavor, especially with French Vanilla creamer.

because this swill

That is the best word I have heard to describe the nasty excuse for coffee at WDW. Swill, what a great word. One could only hope they get another sponser, in my lifetime at least.

Edited to add- My DH just read this post and said it should be called "swine swill" LOL only he could come up with that.

Ok, so adding coffee to my list of things to bring on the trip coming up apparently... :scared:

I agree how bad the coffee is and always take my own coffee.

The coffee at Pop was disgusting. A couple of times I had coffee that I thought was ok, once was at tusker house breakfast and the other time was at the grand floridian where we just went over for a quick sandwich at lunch one day. (the little grill there, i forgot the name)

Ah - I'm so glad no one in my family drinks coffee. Can't really mess up the taste of a Coke product.

their coffee is swill;)

CGrills was better than most...may have been the rarified atmosphere:goodvibes

the packets in the villas seem to taste slightly better, i usually just bring my own from home:thumbsup2 & disposable cups to drag a cup off to the parks with me.

ps - i've had some yucky fountain Coke in my day too lol

1) Let's not go accosting the coffee.
2) Millions of people around the world drink Nescafe freeze dried coffee.
3) After all, some of us (like me) think Starbucks is mediocre and overpriced.
4) I don't think any of us are qualified coffee aficionados or experts.
5) It is just personal preference.

I didn't mind the coffee made in my room at PO. I did hate it from the food court, but what really bothered me was having the swill accompany the awesome desserts we had at the Beach Club and Biergarten. That horrible liquid took away what would have been lovely endings to a couple of wonderful meals.

I'll answer you in kind, Mr. Scupper:

1) O.K., let's not accost the liquid that WDW calls coffee. Let's accost whoever is in charge of Disney restaurant for insisting this horrific-tasting beverage be served at most of their establishments.
2) Millions of people around the world drink things you'd never see pass my lips. Doesn't mean I should have to drink them too.
3) I agree that Starbucks isn't great and is way over-priced, but it would be a big improvement over what WDW is serving in place of real coffee. At home, I prefer 7-11 or QuickChek coffee over Starbucks. I'd prefer almost anything over WDW's coffee substance.
4) What qualifies a person as a "coffee aficionado or expert"? Must one attend the Juan Valdez School of Coffee Excellence?
5) My personal preference would be for "brewed" coffee, especially when it accompanies a meal in which the price of soft drinks is included.

Ok, I am taking a plunge, does McDonald's serve their regular coffee???? IMO, they have the best coffee...:)

I absolutely love Mickey D's coffee! I get one on my way to work almost every day! Cheap too!

I noticed this too-the coffee in our room was french roast and tasted pretty decent. VERY different than the ones we came across elsewhere. The WORST coffee concoction we had on our whole trip was the frozen cappucinno from the bakery in the France Pavillion. THAT was just plain nasty.

Same here. I am ok with the Nestle stuff. I am married to a full blown coffee snob (Kopi Luwak and the whole 9 yards). She is ok with Nestle too .....just barely (but insists that we pack the coffee grinder each trip anyways w/her blend).....;)

Tim Horton is good stuff. They keep threatening to open them here in Texas. I say bring it!

The Nestle chemical coffee substitute is truly awful. Fortunately we had some fabulous dining experinces that had very good coffee... V&A's coffee percolator is almost a show in itself :) - Jiko had its own blend that was also very good... enough to make you wish it was open for breakfast. Boma had a very dark roast that I quite enjoyed. The coffee stands in Epcot, I used the ones near Mexico and near the Universe of Energy, were also fairly good.
