How are the crowd levels durning Thanksgiving week? I am considering planning a trip and I would like some imput please. Thanks in advance for any advice.:flower3:

I have been the last two Thanksgivings and the crowds were very light. We left each year on Thanksgiving morning and stayed 4 nights. We had our Thanksgiving dinner at California Grill and watched Wishes. It was wonderful! I'm not too sure how the crowds are during the week before Thanksgiving. I went a couple of times that week when I was in highschool and I don't remember it being crazy. If you are there after Thanksgiving, you get the see all the Christmas decorations. You go to be Thanksgiving night and wake up and there's Christmas everywhere. It's my fav time to go by far!

BTW....... GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Where are y'all from? I'm in BR!

Most any time when school is out is going to have more crowds, though I've never been for Thanksgiving.

I do highly recommend the first week of December. Crowds are light, weather is generally good, and the Christmas decorations and music are up. Also, it's usually Value Season, with lower prices on rooms.

Another time we've gone that had very low crowds was just after New Years. From Jan. 2 until President's Weekend is one of the least busy time of the year, though weather can be chillier.

I agree with Tiger, the crowds are not that bad and I personally think the best time to go is starting either Thanksgiving day or the day after up to the 14th or 15th of December. The crowds are light but the parks still stay open decent times. You get all of the Christmas decorations, parties, etc without the huge crowds. Airline prices are good, the weather is great, watch out for the nights though they can get a bit nippy to downright COLD. In fact most days you can even have a good trip to the water parks since it is still warm enough during the day. Out of the last 4 trips with the kids we took, the last 3 were around this time. BEWARE!!! The Disney regulars start showing up on the 14th/15th of December and it starts to get very busy. Also if you are going to the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas, book the first chance you can and even try the first day if you can. Also if you are still there around the 12/7 or so make sure to ask about the tapping of the Disney Christmas parade since they start tapping it around this time and usually do tape it several times to get the best taping.

We live between Lafayette and New Iberia in a little place called Coteau.
Thanks for the tip. I have talked to people around here who have gone for Thanksgiving and said the crowds were not too bad. We went for Mardi Gras in 2006 and also this year. The crowds were lighter in 2006 than 2008. I would picture the crowd levels for Thanksgiving to be like Mardi Gras this year.

Because of dh's job we wouldn't be able to go until Thanksgiving day. I really love disboards because of all the nice people like you who are willing to help. Thanks for the tips. :flower3:

I hope you enjoy my trip report. How many years have you been married? DH and made it to 17 years this year.
Do you have a pre trip report going on? If you do get me the link so I can subscribe. If you don't have one you should start one. It is fun and it gives you something to do to pass the time while you wait for your trip date. How old are you kids. My kids were 13 and 8 the first time we took them. Beware after your first trip you will really want to go back again.

We have been married 6 years this past Feb. My DD is going to be 3 in Sept while we're on our trip and my DS is 16 months. I am 31 and DH is 32. We have been 7 times together and are just now taking the kids.

I was thinking about a pre trip report but it seems overwhelming to me. I don't even know how to start. Any tips? I also would love to get some shirts made. How did you get the designs? Would you mind being my DIS mentor?:)

My b-day is Sept 25. Is that near your dd's bday? It would be weird if we had the same b-day. You have to let me know how it goes with a three year old because that is how old Grace will be if I get to plan our 2010 Thanksgiving trip.
It is not overwhelming. Its fun. You will probabbly meet people online who are going at the same time as you. I met Jordan on my pre trip report and we actually had a dismeet at Epcot. It was fun. Oh I am rambling on and I forgot to mention I am talking about a pre- trip report. Just read a few of them and you will get an idea about how to start. It will also give you a reason to do a trip report because you new fans will beg you to:lmao: :lmao:

I got my designs from the disboards. I will look up the link where they have them and I will post it for you later. Did you get to see the bag I made. I am talking about the green one from my pre trip report. I can't tell you how many people wanted to know where I got it.

Her birthday is Sept 30. Yes that would have been too weird if y'all had the same bday. I am nervous about taking them so young. My DH and I would always look at the poor parents of young kids on our trips and think, "that will NEVER be us". Well, guess what, we were wrong! I mean, where else can you take a couple of screaming kids and not get the look of shame from everyone around you!

I do love your bag. I am all about making personal things to wear. We were planning on taking an LSU backpack to represent! I would like to have a smaller bag for myself though. Make DH carry the big one:goodvibes If you could please post the link, I would be most appreciative. So, are you in Grand Coteau or is it just Coteau. My in-laws family is in Erath and Abbeyville. Alright, I'm going to get started on my pre trip post. Wish me luck!
