Haven't been to US/IOA in about 6 years. Now that the kids are alittle older we're thinking of ditching Disney this trip and strictly doing Universal. There's tons of info about crowds at Disney around Thanksgiving (specifically the week of) but what's it like at US/IOA??
Thanks for the thoughts

if you change the left side, bottom dates on the forum page, you can go back and see the other threads on thanksgiving crowds.
that is what i use to put up links to answer questions from newbies usually.

on to your question:

the days prior to Tday are not bad at all.
Turkey day will have it's crowds and major crowds for the days after.

so many take advantage of the period their kids are out of school and do the parks.

if you are staying on site at universal, the fotl perk will help alleviate the long waits in line for rides and attractions.

if you are going Tday and after, and staying off site, be at the park very early prior to opening.
you will get a lot done until the crowds start growing around 11ish each day.

As Mac stated...the week leading up to Thanksgiving isn't bad but the weekend after is NUTS! Be prepared for long lines the whole weekend.

We usually go Tday week. We get there the Sunday or Monday before. Crowds are very low. We didn't have to use our FOTL pass if we didn't want to until Thanksgiving Day when the crowds picked up. The day after Thanksgiving is when the hotels filled up, restaurants and parks were crowded. Friday and Saturday have been super busy, not as busy as Disney tho, thankfully.

The parks and hotels are all decorated for Christmas too! When we were there Santa was coming the day after Thanksgiving to The Hard Rock, they were also having gingerbread decorating for the kids, and the pool had games planned. We have a blast at Thanksgiving in Universal. :thumbsup2

In 2007 we went to US the Friday after Thanksgiving and the place was empty. Maximum wait time was 5 minutes.

On the weekend we went to IA and it was packed, but not Disney packed. Maximum wait time was 30 minutes.

Thanks for the quick responses. We are planning the Sunday before Tday to the Friday after, so it sounds like it'll be great!!
