Thanksgiving Week help ...

Holy macaroni ... after 4 plus years planning for a trip that was supposed to occur in 2016, we are finally making our way back to the World the week of Thanksgiving. No, there's no option to change that ... I'm maxing out my personal leave days as it is and we will not take our brand new middle schooler out of class for more than 2 days at a time since this momma teaches in a MS now and knows how hard it is to catch up!

Here's where it gets tricky - we have a party of 10 (eep! 10!) and are looking to change a couple of our reservations. I'd like to set my expectations realistically so if you have any insight, I'd love to get your feedback.

1. Currently booked at Shula's for Thanksgiving dinner. Would like to move to WCC ... party of 10 reservation was available at 6:45 this morning, is no longer available. As we get closer to the time might there be some opening up?? Or do you think I should just suck it up and be prepared for Shula's?

2. My mother is OBSESSED with taking her grandkids to California Grill. Like, it is the ONLY thing she talks about when we chat about plans. Did she mention this to me when our reservation window first opened up? No. That would be a big, fat no. Can I find ANYTHING to accommodate our party the entire week we're there? NOPE. Might this one open up or is Grandma gonna be SOL?

Any other suggestions?

I'd keep the faith - things open all the time, especially as get closer and plans firm. The good news is you have great "backup" plans! In fact, I'd argue food-wise Shula's is much better than WCC. I am a fan of the free reservation finder on touringplans. You define search parameters and it notifies you if something opens- up to you to log in and book. I still "stalk" the site but think this tool is a good supplement. Have a great trip!!!

You already have a back up plan. I would stalk the page to see if something opens up. Also, have you tried splitting your party in two? I realize this might not be ideal, but might help in locating a reservation.

Keep checking, checking, checking. I'm trying to get a Cape May breakfast on Thanksgiving Day. I have the Touring Plans res finder on it, but I check many times a day. I booked at 180 for something else, but we've changed our minds 3 times. I hate having to do it so early.

I looked about 10 times a day for over a month for Thanksgiving Day reservations at Ohana. I finally got it!!! Keep on trying. If you have to split up your party it will still be a great time!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! Gotta go sign up for Touring Plans again ... now that I've gotten my leave approved I think I can actually start REALLY digging into the planning.

We are open to splitting our party and I've been trying those combos too - I'll keep checking! Have a great day ya'll!
