We are fortunate to be going to WDW during both of these weeks. Normally we do 10 days per summer, some years we’ve done Spring Break, plus several runDisney weekends every year. These two super crowded weeks will both be new for us.

We know all the general tips, but who’s been during these two times who can compare the crowds to summer? Thanksgiving is offsite leaving before turkey day, New Years is Saratoga Springs arriving on Jan 1.

TIA~

We'll be there Thanksgiving week this year and the week between Xmas and New Years. We did those weeks in 2015. Our "normal" trips are in the summer.

Except for the holiday itself, I find the crowds relatively comparable to summer. Thanksgiving in MK is nuts, Xmas in MK is even nuttier. Otherwise, it's a bit busier here and there, but IMO not too different than what you're used to...except it's cooler and less humid.

Just realized that you are arriving on January 1 so I deleted my original post. The parks pretty much empty out the week after January 1. Or at least it feels like it compared to the week before. It'll be nothing like the 4th of July week of summer, more like the very end of August weeks. It's glorious. Enjoy!!

Thank you both for your insights. Anyone else able to make comparisons?

Thanksgiving week I’m offsite across from Disney Springs...not looking forward to the trek to/from MK. Got a dirt cheap rate at Wyndham Garden. Hoping price and availability indicate lower crowds. Just planned this trip today.

January we are in DVC planned months ago. The way New Years falls makes me nervous about crowds continuing after the first. Our schools don’t go back until Jan 7. That’s why we’re going!

When we have been during Thanksgiving, we usually arrive Monday or Tuesday and leave the following Monday or Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Usually, the crowds are not that bad before Wednesday. It may be a little more crowded in Epcot this year since they are starting the holiday festival earlier. The Candlelight Processional still starts on Black Friday, but the marketplaces and storytellers starts the Friday before. That might be something to go see if you have never seen the storytellers. I would highly recommend seeing Norway, Italy, Germany, and UK.

Been a few years since we've done New Year's, but I always noticed it was a few days after New Year's Day when the crowds started going down.
