Does anyone know if any flights are ever discounted on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Right now the cheapest is @$300!! on Airtran (mco to bwi). Or because this is a high travel time, do they usually not discount? Any experience with this time?

Also- just found $82pp on Airtran for the Saturday before (Nov. 17th). I am tempted to take it, but wonder if I should wait for SW and a ding?!?

Please help me!:confused3

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the five businest travel days of the year. In fact I want to think I read something last year that said it has now surpassed Thanksgiving Eve as the busiest travel day of the year, as more and more people spread the start of the Thanksgiving trip throughout the week, but all want to return on Sunday.

Given that, fares are rarely discounted, and as time goes on and more and more seats are sold, it's likely to get outrageiously expensive. If you can wait to travel home on Monday afternoon, or cut the trip short a day, you are likely to find better rates.

Thanks for the info. We are on the Disney Cruise and get in on Sunday morning. I hate to have the kids miss more school, but they may just have to miss one more day at those prices!!

I would definately book the $82 down. Last Thanksgiving I came back on tuesday because the Sun and Monday return flight times were ridiculous. But I booked ahead of SW posting their schedule. they ended up with $79 each way, so there is hope for SWA prices.

Thanks for the hope! Do you remember if the $79 was for that Sunday, or for a later date?

Based on the previous responses in this thread, I feel safe in saying that low Southwest fare was NOT available for the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Hi,
I have traveled to WDW for the past 2 years from the Sunday before Thanksgiving and have always come back on the Monday as Sunday flights sold out very quickly and were really expensive.Monday are usually less and last year the Monday flights were a bit high as well but I ended up getting a night flight for 79.00. Saved 330.00 from what we had it was too much to pass up.My daughter did end up missing 3 days of school but 330.00 was alot of money. I hate her missing school as well but I feel that the week of Thanksgiving Mon.&Tues we ahve Wed off they don't do much anyway so it is really just Monday.Good Luck but if it was me I'd say shoot for Monday not Sunday they say the airport is horrible as well.

Airtran usually comes out with specials a bit closer to the date. Last year we flew on that sunday and I booked a flight way out and then in June or July they came out with their web specials. I'm sure something better will come out. Good luck!
