What are your favorite and EASY sides for Thanksgiving. This is the first year I'm going to bringa side to dinner. If you remember any of my previous posts, I am not a cook...lol. I'm looking for great and easy recipes. Thanks for any help in advance :thumbsup2.

Corn casserole:

1 can whole kernel yellow corn, undrained
1 can cream style yellow corn
1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
2 eggs, beaten
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 stick butter, melted

Mix all together and pour into large, lightly oiled casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes.

DH likes to drizzle honey on his, so I always make sure I sit it out.

Green bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, Squash Casserole.

SUPER easy would be mashed potatos. Chop, boil, mash. Done! :thumbsup2

How about some no-cook options? Since a lot of Thanksgiving food is high calorie and high fat, some welcome side dishes may be light ones such as a big fresh veggie tray with lowfat dip or a green salad with lots of fresh veggies and a choice of dressings.

Stuffing is pretty easy too. Open pouch, add liquid, and heat it up. Ta-Da!

I'm a cook so my recipes are much more involved but there are definitely easy ways out there to do all of these things. :thumbsup2

fresh spinach salad is always welcome here.

green beans with slivered almonds (instead of the mushroom soup green bean casserole)

I'm going to make a mashed potato casserole! :)

We make a super easy sweet salad (we call it heartburn salad because it used to give me heartburn when I ate too much)

1 can cherry pie filling
1 can diced pineapple
1 large tub whipped cream
1/2 bad mini marshmallows

stir everything together & let it sit for a couple of hours to soften the marshmallows. Easy peasy & yummy!

Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Turnips
Green beans with Bacon, Walnuts and Gorgonzola
Corn
Cranberry (both jellied and sauce)

I do like this idea, since I can order it from the local grocer...lol!!!

Yum! Sounds great! I think I may try this on Sunday.

Tomato casserole

The original recipe calls for chopping tomatoes, green peppers and onions, but it tastes just as good when you buy the canned diced tomatoes with peppers and onions!:thumbsup2 Then it's so easy a child could do it (meaning no knifes are involved in the prep).

2 cans diced tomatoes with peppers and onions
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 cups bread crumbs
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese

Add one tablespoon sugar to each can of tomatoes (I just open the can, dump in the sugar and stir).

In 13x9 casserole dish, layer one can tomatoes, one cup bread crumbs, then another layer of tomatoes, and bread crumbs.

Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Take out, top with cheese and bake an additional 10 mintues.

My family will not eat the "heels" or "end pieces" of loaves of bread, so throughout the year, I dice them up and freeze them. Then when the holidays come around, I have plenty of bread crumbs. :) But you can dice up fresh bread just as easily.

If we're not counting the usual stuffing, cranberry sauce, desserts, etc., then for me it would be broccoli in cheese sauce.. You can buy it already prepared (frozen) and then pop it in the microwave or use the stove directions..

Of course the problem with that is that not everyone likes broccoli..LOL..

Hope you find something quick and easy and have a great time! :goodvibes

I never thought of that... and I have coupons for big bags of Green Giant. It will be about 40 people there, so someone's bound to like broccoli. :thumbsup2

depending on how many people and how many left over you want (we like a lot of leftovers because it is so good)

8 or so cans of green beans
4 big cans or 8 small cans of mushrooms
velveta
Garlic powder or salt

Put in a crock pot in the morning and eat whenever dinner is served
