Well, I'm at it again. Decisions, decisions......

Here's the scoop. I've had it planned that we would leave Thanksgiving day and stay the entire week after. My son would only miss 4 days of school.

However, now DH brought up the possibility of going over Christmas instead. I've gone to Disney in the past over the Christmas Holiday and it was OK (Christmas happens to be my oldest son's Birthday). Also, he would only miss 1 days of school (we'd leave Thursday before Christmas).

Anyhow, I'm trying to decide what to do. There are pro's and cons to both. As far as hotel cost - there isn't any difference with the AP Best Rate Program. It looks like I'll get the same rate.

My only issue is being away again for Christmas with the kids. I told DH that if we do this, we are shipping the presents there and getting a tree (we'll be staying at a villa).

So, what do you think?

I know Christmas is supposed to be fun at Disney but I personally LOVE being at home for Christmas. Something about waking up in our house Christmas morning.

Also - even though Thanksgiving will be busy, the week after will be a lot less crowded then the week OF Thanksgiving (and def lot less crowded then Christmas week!) so I think that is a BIG advantage. Plus you get to see all the decorations of Christmas to get you in the mood but then you have 20 days before Christmas when you get home.

Yes - I definately say do Thanksgiving, esp since you did Christmas already. :flower:

And if you go during the week after Thanksgiving, you get to buy the presents for the upcoming Christmas :)

Fam and I will be there the week after Thanksgiving.

I would definitely do Thanksgiving. The xmas decorations will be up anyways, so you wont miss that. Some of the crowds will have returned home.

Like the previous poster, I really like christmas here at home as a family. it is my favorite time of the year.

the only reason i would consider christmas week would be if you were not comfortable taking your children out of school for 4 days. I am a licensed teacher, and I would CHEER any parents for spending all that quality time with their children in WDW. The only time I would hesistate would be if the child was already falling behind. As long as you have no concerns for your son's schoolwork, I would definitely do Thanksgiving!

Have a great time! Can I come too :rotfl:

Thanksgiving

That way your son can spend his birthday with his family and friends.

Thank you everyone. I too like to spend Christmas at home but my only issue was taking my son out of school. After much discussion, we've decided we are going over Thanksgiving.

And now the countdown begins :teeth:

I love WDW @Thanksgiving because: crowds are not as overwhelming as Christmas, rates are lower and the Christmas decorations/Osborne lights are there to enjoy. It serves as a big "kick off" to our Christmas spirit.

I love the week before Christmas until New Years. yes it is crowded but I never found it overbearing. Enjoy the beautiful holiday with your family.

Im thinking Thanksgiving here. We are actually arriving the day after Thanksgiving and staying until Dec. 3rd. I am looking forward to (hopefully) lower crowds. Next year we are going the week before Christmas. I am more nervous about this time because I think it will be really crowded and I prefer low crowd times. My mother in law is planning the trip next year so we have to go when the rest of the family is going. I dont mind taking the kids out of school. I would rather do that since we are spending so much money and get to do lots more with low crowds.
