In the past I have read that Publix will prepare a basic Thanksgiving meal for your family. Has anyone inquired about this service for this year? We will be in WDW for Thanksgiving and would like to find somewhere to pick up the basic meal.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

We did this at Goodings a few years ago. We had to place an order with the store - I was able to do this over the internet. Then we had to pick up the dinner by noon the day before. The turkey, though already precooked, had to be cooked for a few hours to make it edible (too cold). This was nice, but not like cooking all your own favorites.

Check the website for Publix. I'd bet they offer this as well. You'd just have to pick it up on Wednesday at the latest.

I just called Publix last night! I plan to make my own sides. Nothing too fancy--mashed potatoes, stuffing (box), green beans (frozen stem in a bag), corn and gravy. I am going to pick up the cooked turkey and pumpkin pie from Publix. She told me it would be $2.49/lb. for the turkey. I ordered a 12-14lb. turkey that would feed 10-12 people. It was the smallest offered! I do not know the entire cost of the full meal since I was not ordering a full meal.

I spoke with Anna at the Xentury City Publix

We did this last year. We do not come in with a car so I used Marge for grocery deliver. I went on Publix's online site and choose the sides I wanted. The meal was very good! True that you still need to allow time for the Turkey to 'cook' but not like starting from scratch.

Besides Publix, many restaurants will do this as well. Boston Market is a good choice, I think even WM and Sam's might do this. Publix would be my first choice though but they are closed on Thanksgiving day I believe.

I just cooked a full turkey dinner at VGC 2 nights ago, as a test run for future trips. I brought everything with me in a cooler, including a disposable aluminum roasting pan, spices, jarred gravy, potatoes, can of green beans, boxed stuffing, butter, and those pop up buttons that tell you when it's done.
The resort did not have meat thermometers, I asked, and there was no mashing tool, so I roasted the potatoes.
Once everything was in the oven we walked over to DTD for a bit, shopped, and as the villas are so close to DCA and DTD, we would run back to see how it was cooking, and then go back out.
I have to say it was one of my best roast turkey dinners. Not completely homemade, but close.

There is a Honey Baked Ham on John Young Pkway right off 417. I am sure they will be offering meals, as they usually do. They will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Whole Foods Market will be offering Turkey or Ham with sides. They will be open from 8am-2pm on Thanksgiving day. The new WFM on Turkey lake Road is the store that I use when at disney. I believe from SSR it took us about 20-25 minutes to get there. You can call the store directly to place an order. They also have an excellant selection of wine. Susan
