Well we are now flying home on Thanksgiving Day vs. the day after so I had to cancel my ressie for Trails End on Thanksgiving afternoon. We fly out at 5:10 now so we will need to eat fairly close by. I figure we check out at 11:00 and we have roughly til 3:00 to eat. I tried for Turf Club they are booked. I know that Fulton's Crab House has a meal but they are SO EXPENSIVE for their meal. Planet Hollywood doesn't have a traditional meal. I wonder if Rain Forest does something and if it would be hard to get into ...since they don't take the ADR's?? Does the Artist Palette do anything for Thanksgiving?? Olivia's at OKW is booked. I did think of going over to PORS to their food court ....not sure about that. Any suggestions?? My friend told me to JUST WAIT TIL we are home and cook over the weekend...celebrate late. I DON'T WANT TO COOK. LOL

Have you checked at any of the other resorts? It is fairly easy to walk to Downtown Disney and catch a bus to any of the other resorts. Or if you are lazy (like me) you can just catch the first theme park bus that comes to your bus stop and then transfer to the resort bus at the park. It might give you a chance to check out another resort for future reference.

Well I guess it depends on how LAZY we are feeling. LOL We will have been at WDW since the evening of the 14th so I really wanted to stay close by and not feel rushed on our last partial day. I am thinking we will leave for the airport at 3:00. I guess if we checked out at say 10ish...we could go to another resort and explore and have a meal there if something is available this late in the planning game. Then get back in time. I just want to NOT RUSH like wild people getting back to SSR for our car service pick up. In Aug. we checked out of BWV took the bus to DTD, shopped, had a nice lunch and headed back in plenty of time to leave for the airport.

Another suggestion (if you don't mind waiting) go the Turf Club as soon as they open and ask them to squeeze you in. I have done that several times and have always been accomodated at other restaurants.

How about Olivia's at OKW?

I tried and they were booked til like 9ish. We leave for the airport at 3ish that day. I am probably going to try and get in right at noon at Turf Club....and if not....we will find something.

Artist's Palette had a really good counter service type T-giving meal last T-giving. Our family group of 7 had our "all together" T-giving dinner at Don Shula's at the Swan, at about 5--when I booked it, they assured me they'd be serving a traditional turkey meal...when we got there, all they had was steak. It was good steak, but I left feeling a little cranky over not having been able to get my traditional turkey & stuffing & pumpkin pie...we finished in time to head over to Fantasmic, which blew the crankies out of my system!

Then, when we got back to SSR (around 9:30 or so), I stopped by Artist's Palette for some snacks and saw they were serving (for $10 no less!) a traditional turkey meal w/all the trimmings...I bought one and sat down and savored it...it looked and tasted like "real turkey" (not the pressed meat stuff that's so common at fast-food places), stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, roll, pumpkin pie...it was delicious and it made me SO happy to get it! T-giving for me just isn't T-giving w/out turkey!

T-giving meals will be hard to book at this point...last year our group "grew" from 3 to 7 in September, and there was almost no restaurant we could book when I tried to increase our reservation (Shula's, while good, was not on the DDP which was an issue, and I wouldn't have booked it had they not told me they would be serving a roast turkey meal)...

So, I was thrilled to discover Artist's Palette's offering...this year there's only two of us going (so far), but I "fear" more family will decide to join us at the last minute...knowing Artist's Palette has a very good turkey meal available gives me "peace of mind" that we'll be able to eat our traditional T-giving meal together, even if more family arrives and we have to give up our CA Grill reservation!

Anyway...I think if you are unable to find a sit-down restaurant that "suits" your time frame, food choices, and budget, you'll be quite happy with the traditional turkey meal served by Artist's Palette...

YIPPEEEE This sounds perfect for us on that day. I guess we can try walk up at Turf Club at noon...if not ARTIST PALETTE it is. I am fine with that. Do they serve their regular stuff too on Thanksgiving. I am sure my boys would profer that to a turkey meal. Thanks.

I do apologize, but I just can't remember if there were choices other than the traditional turkey available...I hadn't planned on buying "real food" when I went in, and I was SO excited to see the turkey meal I didn't pay attention (or if I did I forgot it immediately) to whether there were other choices...

We will also be at SSR for T-giving this year...Sun-Sun...maybe we'll run into you at AP, Turf Club, or at the pool!!

Oh okay. Thanks. We arrive evening of the 14th....depart afternoon of Thanksgiving Day. I had us on the waitlist for the 21st and 22nd departing on Friday the 23rd...but a GREAT DING came thru and I was able to really lower our flights if we flew home on Thanksgiving Day. So I dropped the last night on the waitlist and we flew out a day early on Wed. instead of Thursday. Then my waitlist came through last week so we are able to spend all 8 nights there. WOOHOOO. I can't wait. Yeah LOOK FOR US. LOL We are a family of 5.....ages of the kiddos are below....you might say "Hey I think I was dis board posting with her". LOL

Thats too bad you couldn't get into Turf Club. We decided to go down over Thanksgiving less than two weeks ago, and were able to get a reservation for 4 no problem...it must have filled up quickly. Hopefully they will have a turkey dinner for you at Artist Pallet, we'll keep an eye out for you there. Have a great trip.

WOW where are you staying?? Did you get a room? I will keep checking for Turf Club......it might open up maybe. IF not at least we have Artist. :)

We're staying at SSR. We had to stay on cash as there wasn't anything available with points on such short notice. I'd keep trying Turf Club (maybe I should call and take your Trails End and you could have my Turf Club...although it's only for four). It at least sounds like you have some turkey options. Good luck and maybe we'll see you there.

Oh okay. I was like WOW..SHE GOT IN THAT LATE. LOL I already cancelled the Trails End. We like to eat there every once in a while. We haven't the past two trips though. It is one of the cheaper buffets out there. Have a great trip. What are your dates? WE arrive on Wed. night the 14th and depart at 5:10 on the 22nd.

We're arriving on the 17th departing on the 24th. Never stayed at SSR, and never been during Thanksgiving. Looking forward to both. We're hoping most of the Christmas decorations will be up, from what I've read it sounds like they should be. Have a great trip.

YOU WILL LOVE IT. Yes the decorations should be up...they go up earlier and earlier each year. This is our 3rd trip during the Thanksgiving week. I will say that the last time we went two Nov. ago.....it was more crowded than our first Nov. trip. Just expect the crowds by about Tuesday.....do your faves before then. Then just roll with the punches and take in all that festivity. IT is GREAT.
