Thanksgiving Holidays At WDW

If you consider going to MK on TG day -- best bet is to get there EARLY, for EMH at 8am, otherwise it turns into a busy busy place!! We go to MK every TG day (yes, we are one of the nuts!) but we always leave by about 12noon, and go back to the hotel. But, if you are there by opening, for EMH, you can get quite a few good rides in!

We're flying in on Nov. 16th and staying at BWV, On the 20th, we're moving to the Portofino and Universal. Last year Thanksgiving day was insane everywhere at WDW, so we'll spend the Wed and Thur. at Universal with front of the line access. Then we fly home on Friday.
I hope everyone has a "magical" trip!

Has anyone done DTD on TG day? Wondering how that is? If i leave MK say around noon, and head over to DTD.. i wonder how crowded that is??

We have ADR's at Chef Mickey's at 11. Would it be better to go to either MK or Epcot since they have the monorail? Just checking a few opinions! Thanks!

We actually discussed this exact question last night. I think we've decided to take a nice monorail ride to EPCOT. We figured it would be less crowded and there's more to do and see without having to stand in long lines in world showcase. Plus we can walk right back to our resort (BC) afterwards. :cool1:

We talked about possibly going to DTD during the day if it's too cold to swim. We spent the evening at DTD on TG 2003 and it wasn't very crowded so I imagine the day will be even less crowded.

We've been twice over thanksgiving. just last year we stayed at Universal at Royal Pacific to take advantage of universal's front of the line ride tickets that come with staying at an on site resort. I love disney, but they really should come up with something like this - much better than fast passes. We ate thanksgiving dinner right at the Royal Pacific - TERRIFIC BUFFET - everything you can think of from traditional to sushi to stirfry and more - breads, oodles of desserts of every kind and all you can eat! I highly recommend this to anyone. You don't have to stay at the resort to go to the buffet.
2 years before that we ate at the Swan for dinner though we weren't staying there. Boring. and too fancy for the kids. won't do that again.
We really enjoy going this time of year. We get to see the xmas lights in both disney and universal and the hotels and have never found the crowds to be too bad, especially in the days before thanksgiving. We usually go from saturday before to saturday after. Friday after can be a bit crowded. Last year it was COLD!! But we loved it anyway!!
I think it's great time of year to go - course plane fare is hiked up for the holidays....

The crowds shouldn't be bad until the day before Thanksgiving.

As far as i can tell, it is way too early to see what the weather will be.. (for TG i mean).. I would say to go by the forcast more when you have a week or so to go. ;)

My family will also be one of the thousand others that will be there over the Thanksgiving hoildays. We will be at Chef Mickey's for breakfast at 7:00 and a very late dinner 8:50 I think at the camp ground buffet. I forget the name of the place right now. I'll see ya'll there.:goodvibes

I'm glad I found this thread! It's not for me- my girlfriend is going with her DH and kids (8 and 6), along with her MIL and FIL, all for the first time the week of Thanksgiving.
This is her possible schedule: she asked that I share it and get some feedback.
Tuesday 11/20: Epcot or MGM ( I told her Epcot- her son is a techno wizard); no formal dinner plans
Wednesday 11/21: MK- Late breakfast at Cinderella Castle
Thursday: AK, dinner at Boma's

Sound okay? Should she bother with a park hopper in case the park they go to is too busy that day? (I told her to stick with AK on Thursday since they would have already been to MK-Cindy's breakfast- and it's the busiest park b/c of turkey day!)
Thanks all!

It's getting clooooooserrr!!! YEA!!!

We arrive on Thanksgiving afternoon and will be at WDW till 12/2 staying at Saratoga Springs! Looking forward to the seeing the Christmas decorations, MVMCP and great weather!
Hope everyone has a great time! :)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! We leave next Thursday the 15th (driving) and get there on Friday 16th!!!!!!! We're sooooo excited that we could bust. We need it. My DH hurt his hand at work last week and my DD was sick with strep throat so, all of her :"cooties" should be gone by then. I have been waiting for this week for what seems like FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope we get in some good fun time before the crowds kick in.

Right there with you:thumbsup2 My DS is turning 5 on Nov 18 and DS is turning 9 this Sunday:banana: We are celebrating both birthdays for our trip:love: I am also hoping the crowds are not horrible. It is hard with my little guy who begs to be carried on DH's shoulders. :headache: We are very excitied to do MVMCP:santa:

In my reading today, I came accross the Walt Disney museum, and I if I'm not mistaken that's Mickey's official birthday as well. I think it was Nov 18 1928. I just checked and it is his official birthday. Apparently that's when Steamboat Willie debuted so it was kept as his birthday.

Cute for your son!:thumbsup2

Thank you so much for that little tidbit of info:thumbsup2 How cool to celebrate DS 5 birthday with Mickey's. We have a ressie for Ohana Nov 18 and then off to MK to celebrate:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We will be there from the 18th to the 26th. We're staying at BCV, so we decided to eat Thanksgiving dinner at Cape May Cafe and then go to Osbourn Lights that night. I can't wait!!!

We're leaving on Nov. 19th and staying until the 26th-going to our first ever MVMCP on Nov. 25th:santa:. We'll be staying at CBR with 3 other families we know. Here's our ADR's-
Nov. 20-Crystal Palace at 4:00
Nov. 21-Ohana breakfast at 8:00 am
Nov. 22-Turkey Day at Le Cellier at 7:40
Nov. 23-50's Primetime at 4:00
Nov. 24-Cinderella's Royal Table at 2:30
We booked all these exactly 180 days out, and now we're stressing out because they're not starting the tree lighting ceremony at Epcot until Friday (we were hoping to catch this on Thanksgiving Day). Oh well-we'll figure it out. Only 11 more days-I'm ready to leave right now!!! :dance3:
