Thanksgiving Dinner

We will be checking into AKV on Thanksgiving day. I called to make my dining reservations on the first possible day. I was looking for character dining and was only able to book Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. We have eaten there before and it does have the princesses, however, isn't really my idea of a Thanksgiving meal. I am considering booking Boma (I think this is the buffet) or Sanaa at AKV. Our DS is 2 and does better with buffets. Does anyone have an opinion on what makes more sense. Our DH is 5 and loves the character meals so we are torn. We will keep checking in hopes of getting something at Chef Mickey or Crystal Palace, but we have reservations for both of those later in the week.

All opinions would be appreciated.

Although Biergarten in Epcot is not a character meal, it has a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving meal and it is a lot of fun for kids. They have live entertainment and a buffet. On Thanksgiving, they also serve traditional Thanksgiving food in addition to the German fair. We have been there on multiple Thanksgivings and will be there again this year. It is a family favorite.

If you decide to stay at the resort I highly recommend Sanaa. The food is absolutely wonderful! I don't know if they will have a Thanksgiving menu so you may have to eat from their regular menu, which offers a lot of Indian flavors. The meal I had there last month was the highlight of my trip...and Indian food isn't even one of my favorites.

As for more traditional or buffet meals, the Biergarten suggestion is a good one and Boma is always fantastic. You might also look into places like Olivia's at OKW and the Turf Club at SSR. Neither of those tend to fill up quickly and I"m guessing they will have a traditional Thanksgiving meal on their menu that day.

We'll also be at AKV for Thanksgiving, but I'll be cooking that day. I've always wanted to do a full holiday meal at our home-away-from-home and this year I get to!
