Thanksgiving dinner.. Top five..

Turkey with a little bit of crispy skin
DH's roasted root vegetables
My stuffing (Many on the spinoff thread would hate it! Apples and craisins along with sausage and all the other good stuff!)
Cold apple cider
Butternut squash and real mashed potatoes with homemade gravy

I'm going to add a 6th - gingerbread trifle

It is, and it couldn't be easier!

Make a gingerbread. Crumble it and layer with whipped cream and vanilla pudding, ending with whipped cream. Top with crushed gingersnaps and a cherry.

If you want it to look decorative, you can line the trifle bowl with whole gingersnaps, too.

I've seen other recipes that include things like english toffee, pumpkin, fruit or liquer, but we like this particular trifle the simple way - plain.

my husband's grandmother's pecan pie ( i am not a huge fan of alot of pecans and used to pick them out of the pie. so she made me a pie with just the filling and 1 pecan! :thumbsup2

My childhood's traditional Thanksgiving menu(at least my favorites) in no order:

1)Turkey
2)Green bean casserole
3)Cornbread
4)Uncle Rick's mashed potatoes
5)Mom's Pumpkin Pie

And as a bonus Mom using the carcass of the turkey to make soup-she also used ham to make ham&bean soup when we had 2 meats.

Ingredients
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature
1 (14-ounce) can condensed milk
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoons lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 prepared graham cracker crust

Directions
Combine the cream cheese, milk, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla in a large bowl. Mix on medium speed until smooth. Pour into the pie crust. Refrigerate overnight.


So rich and delicious!

Thanks! That certainly sounds easy enough.. I think DGD would enjoy making that - she's a big fan of anything lemon..:)

stuffing (not filling...but stuffing, made with celery, onions and Bell's poultry seasoning)

This is what I use for my stuffing - along with bread cubes and pork sausage.. Yum!!:thumbsup2
