I'm arriving at MCO on Thanksgiving Day and I'm needing transportation to Renaissance Resort on I-Drive. What kind of shuttle service is there and who do you recommend? I'm new to all this as we've always driven to Florida and had our own car. Oh, I don't want to rent a car from MCO as we will not need it the first five days we're there...guess I'm always trying to save money. :wizard:

first how many in you party? This is paramount in figuring cost as the shuttles charge by the person NOT the trip. Also as opposed to what you hear from others here a town car is not always cheaper than a cab. Check typical rates at orlandoairports.net under transportation section to give you an idea of typical rates. If I have arrived in Orlando and started working by that time I will send you a note and offer my services.

We either fly into MCO on Thanksgiving or the day before every year, and we use Happy Limo for our transportation. I prefer a towncar to a shuttle because I don't like being crowded in with others and making multiple stops. We come to Orlando a lot and have never had a problem, either on a holiday or any other day. If you go with a towncar, be sure to check for coupons. Happy Limo has one, so figure that into your comparison with a cab. We took a taxi from WDW to MCO once when we did a sput-of-the-moment trip extension, and the cost was a little higher than the cost of a towncar.

T-man: There will be three of us, 2 adults and 1 child. Do you know how Mears works? Does everyone just sit around waiting until a bus is full? I don't mind multiple stops as it gives me a chance to 'see the sights'.

Incognito: I already do have a ressie with Happy Limo but I'm almost too embarrassed to call them AGAIN with a trip change (okay, I'm not very organized), and I wanted to check out my options. Before I started planning this trip, I thought a rental car or taxi was THE ONLY way off MCO. Like I said, we normally drive down and have our own car the whole time. I think I'm going to miss that freedom...even if we didn't use it, the feeling was still there. Hubby thinks we don't need a rental so I've compromised...less expensive hotel the last five days of our trip in exchange for a rental car. Ah...my freedom back!

I'm from a small town and have no experience with car services or taxis. Their cost (the unknown) is what worries me. I've always been a "budget traveler".

I think I may have solved my problem, although I'm always interested in my options. My hotel has a Budget car rental desk. I'll rent a car from MCO and drop it at my hotel. That will give me the freedom to spend more than15 minutes (Happy's allowed grocery stop) buying needed goodies. And it's a little less than Happy. I think I'm happy now. :p
