For those who have been to WDW on Thanksigiving, what restaurtant would you recommend for Thanksgiving dinner? We want to do a character meal since we will have 4 young kids with us. thanks!

we're thinking about Chef Mickey's. Can anyone who has been there on Thanksgiving tell me about the buffet? thanks

We had Thanksgiving dinner with four young kids...We went to the WCC because we wanted a sit down...It was great...The kids loved it...And they will give the kids chicken nuggets, fries and a backed cookie if they do not want the traditional meal that is served family-style...I have not been to a buffet on Thanksgiving so sorry that I cannot provide feedback on that.

We go to Disney every other Thanksgiving and always eat at CM. It's all the normal buffet and characters, plus some added Thanksgiving things like turkey, stuffing, etc. We have enjoyed it because it has the traditional offerings for those who want it and other offering for me who hates turkey, etc. After, we jump on the monerail and go see the gingerbread house at the GF after.

How hard is it to get the ADR? Do you call exactly 180 days out first thing in the am??? there's going to be 8 of us so I am a bit worried about that. thanks!

There are always 7 of us (so a table for 8.) I do call right at 180 days because we go with my grandparents and they don't like to eat late, so yes I call right away. If you know you want a certian time call right away, even so, I wouldn't wait too long into the day. A table for 8 is fine though.

Are you staying onsite? It is 180 days from date of check-in so you may be able to call for Thanksgiving before the technical 180 day mark...It is 180 days from the exact date if you are staying off site...Do not bother with online ADR for Thanksgiving...Make sure you call at 7:00 AM on the first day you CAN call...

Good luck!

thanks for all the replies. I'm optimistic that we'll be able to get Chef Mickey's for thanksgiving now!!!

Yes, I should have said that. GOOD POINT!!!

Definately book ahead for Thanksgiving

Also, many venues have a special menu for Thanksgiving and their typical menu may be available or limited

We are staying off property so will have to call at exactly 180 days. Can I still be optimistic that we will get Chef Mickey's for dinner? We are flexibile with are time....just don't want to eat at 8:00 at night. thoughts?

You may have a tough time...Being flexibile is good...Just have a back up plan just in case...Be prepared with three places you want to eat...I only say this because many of us had a difficult time getting what we wanted last year.

When do you think Disney will release which restaurants are having a "traditional Thanksgiving Dinner"? Will we know 180 days out?

Just a few more thoughts:

to the OP...

yes I ditto the fact you NEED to book your ADR's as soon as your window opens...

You can use the ADR calculater on the main site just click "dining" above it will be sometime in May.

Yes have a back up plan..

I think CM is great and I know another poster said they have done it several times...but I have also read that Thanksgiving is a BUSY TS no matter where you dine...but buffets are even more crowded.

I'd suggest if you want the character experience and can afford to book two TS meals...then I'd do CM a different day and try a reg sitdown non buffet for Thanksgiving.

FYI we are trying for WCC since it is family style

As well one other tip for booking...ask for the off dinning times...why not lunch time for dinner...but shoot for the first "dinner" time generally 4:30 ish....

Plan to arrive even 30 minutes ahead of your dining time if you need to park at CR too.

to the last poster...I am not sure when they will announce it but go to AllEARS net and search for thanksgiving menu

...they have a pretty good list and the price surcharge from previous yrs.

Hope this helps!

We did T-day dinner at 1900 Park Faire last year. Crowds were not bad but we found out after we were seated that most of the usually outstanding menu items were removed for T-day stuff: turkey, stuffing, etc. Quite a disappointment that was.

The CMs, though, were their usual excellent selves and the gent playing Prince Charming really looked the part. Charming is one of those who I think get short shrift by Casting. There have been Charmings in the MK parades who looked like someone from tech support that wandered into the wrong area at the wrong time ("Studley's late! Quick, grab that guy by the ethernet hub and throw the suit on him; the carriage is about to leave!"). Charming and Cindy were gracious with all the guests, Charming danced with all the princesses in training during the waltz portions, the stepsisters were wonderfully nasty at times and even pitable at others (Anastasia's "crying" at seeing Charming dancing with Cindy was a nice touch.), and the Evil Stepmom was, well, the Evil Stepmom.

Overall, we'd do 1900 PF again. It's the CMs that really make the event.
