Thanksgiving at HH

We won't be there this year, but DH & I have talked about going for Thanksgiving. Are there lots of activities at that time of year?

We'll be in HH over Thanksgiving, not staying at DVC (we have a condo at Sea Pines), but we will be visiting our friends at DVC that week!

Mary---my dd is 15 1/2 and babysits---maybe something could work out that way? Let me know if you're interested.

I am getting excited to go but we are still missing one night in the middle of our reservation. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it comes through!

We will be there the Sat thu Wed but are leaving just before Thanksgiving. Our families would freak if we didn't show up at everybodies house on Thanksgiving.

I'm getting so excited about this trip! We're staying our first night in a GV and can't wait to see what it looks like. Things are so stressful at work right now - my department was cut from 21 people to 3 - and thoughts of HH kept me sane today. I can't wait to sit on our porch in a rocker reading a book and feeling the warm sunshine on my face.

I'm also looking forward to some serious outlet shopping since I've dropped over 80 pounds! Can't wait to hit those stores!!!!

ZerasPride-- WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!! 80 pounds!! You must be soooo proud of yourself!! You will have such a great time shopping! Actually, I am pretty weak when I get to the women's Lauren department at Belk. We don't have a Belk and there is only one store within an hour or so that sells Lauren in my size, so when we are at HH, DH knows I need an hour or two there!

Fenceman -- I know what you mean, but in my family, the battle became whether we were visiting in-laws 5 1/2 hours away or my parents 1/2 hour away. Going away for Thanksgiving gave us a chance for the four of us to be together as a family without all the family dramatics, in a relaxing place right before the rush of the holidays. My DD16 says HH DVC is her "happy place"

Tripletvan -- there is still time for your missing night to come through, but I would call each day to check on it. Last year we were on a waiting list and didn't get a call but one day I called in and they were able to fill the missing day for me. In 2002, our missing nights didn't come through until the last week of October. Don't give up hope!

Dis-Happy -- One of the BEST pizza places ever is in your neck of the woods -- Mello Mushroom is in Sea Pines in the same shopping center as the movie theatre. It is now part of our tradition.

Mrs.M -- there are so many fun activities, including kayaking, marsh tours, beach nature walks, family campfire, etc. etc. DH LOVES to golf, DD16 and DS11 love to bike, and we all love to walk on the beach or along the back boardwalk near the marsh. It is truly a beautiful place.

Sounds like you could really use a litle relaxation! I like to go & tune out myself. Great about the weight loss. Keep it up!

We love, love, LOVE that Mellow-mushroom. It seems that one calzone can feed 3 people for dinner! Did you know they also have free wi-fi?

Maybe we'll see you there---licking our fingers, of course. On the other side of the parking lot is Marley's outdoor ice cream. Fun for hanging out and listening to music at night while the kids run around---hope it's still going on in November. Have you tried that too?

Thanks for the follow-up poohj80---I just noticed the question.

keenercam---can you tell I'm married to a computer geek? Some days are great, and then there are other days......anyway, it does color your outlook on life, and the things you learn to get excited about, LOL!

Regardless how FULL you are, I hope to see you at Marleys. Their ice cream is pretty good. Maybe the secret is to go there BEFORE heading to Mellow Mushroom!!!

We'll be at HHI for our 2nd year in a row. Went last year for the first time and just loved it. Can't wait to go back. We have 10 family members (all dvc owners coming) with us.

Won't be there this year, but are planning for next year....sounds like a nice tradition. Perhaps years when we go to WDW we can still manage a few days for Thanksgiving.

We're lucky enough to have a Mellow Mushroom here in Columbia....yummy! Some favorites of me and my friends are the feta and pineapple pizza and the jerk chicken pizza. Oh, and the Purple Haze...yum! The place here in Columbia is kind of a pain though as they have a very small non-smoking section....hard for the group of moms and babies I usually go out with.

I'll admit I'm a calzone purist and I'm bothered by the fact that Mellow Mushroom calzones don't have any ricotta cheese in them....so I stick with pizza (and beer).
