Has anyone ever done this? What is there to do that time of year at HH? Is the pool heated? Are res. hard to get for this week? What are the rooms like? I'd be interested in a 1BR.
Any info would be appreciated.

I've never been at Thanksgiving, but there are quite a few people on this board that go annually over Thanksgiving. I'm sure they'll be able to answer all your questions. I can tell you that the pools are heated. Also, if the weather is nice, there's plenty to do at HH. Walk the beach, golf, rent bikes to ride around the island or join in some of the resort activities. There are usually activities for all ages provided by the recreation staff at the resort. My kids love a trip to HH as much as one to WDW (maybe even more). It is also just a great place to relax and unwind.

As far as room availability, I wouldn't know for that time of year. I do know that there are many more 2BR units than 1BR and often people can snag a 2BR when the studios & 1BRs are booked.

I am one of those who goes to HH for Thanksgiving every year. :thumbsup2

The weather can be very "iffy" -- last year we had record lows; some years it's been near 80!

Most of the usual resort activities are still offered (not the Star Spangled Tuesday or anything resembling pool games, etc.), but maybe just not as frequently as during the summer months.

I would be very surprised if there is any availability left for Thanksgiving this year; if there is, it's likely only for a 2BR, since there are relatively few studios and 1BRs there. I know that many people have had luck in reserving at the 7 month mark, however.

LMK if you have any other questions.

We went to HH last year during Thanksgiving week and are going again this year. Last years trip and this years trip are with my wifes family (6 2-brs are booked) and are booked as paid ressies as we are the only DVC members and FIL pays for the rooms. We booked both times by February and this year some of our rooms ended up being waitlisted but cleared about a month by March. It could be very difficult to get anything at this date but it's worth a try. We have had a great time during Thankgiving week but as dineyaholic says the weather can be very iffy. Last there was a storm that lasted about a day and half but the kids all still did the heated pool hot tub and all the inside events that were offered. We ride bikes on the beach and all over the island, kayak and still go in the ocean though it is cold. this trip is becoming a tradition for us as we have really come to love HH and all it has to offer even in off weather. I am sure there are others who have alot more experience than us but we gave it a big thumbs up!

Oh, Thanksgiving at HHI-Icky, Poo-stay away:rotfl: :rotfl: Actually, it's such a perfect time to go that the resort is booked solid. Last year we arrived on Saturday and got a choice of rooms (we also got a 1 BR). Then on Sunday, the resort really filled up. B'leu was outside with Shadow to greet people, because they said it was such a busy day.

Since you can book on Member's cash at 11 months, that's what we did, then at 7 months, try to get a points room. Some nights were available, but since April, we've been on the waiting list for points for 3 nights. But even if we pay cash, at least we're there! The resort offers a deep fried turkey dinner, and there's nothing like walking around Thanksgiving morning and smelling the turkeys all cooking. Thanksgiving afternoon there's a family football game on the beach. Like Disneyaholic said, the weather certainly is "iffy". Here's the pool on Thanksgiving day-with temperatures in the low 40s, there wasn't much swimming that day!
