Thanksgiving And The Week After

We have gone the week of Thanksgiving for the past 4 years. I find that the wednesday before Thanksgiving that is starts getting very crowded. It stays that way through out the weekend. We went to MGM on the wednesday before thanksgiving and the waits for Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller coaster were 120 minutes. We ended up leaving early. We went to Epcot on Thanksgiving day and the crowds weren't that bad, I guess because the park is much bigger.

The day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year at WDW, and the weekend that follows is quite crowded also. By Sunday afternoon, though, you'll notice a distinct drop in crowd levels.

We have gone twice leaving the Sat AFTER Thanksgiving and staying that first week of Dec and the crowds were extremely light. We would defintiely go at that time of year. We just got back Friday and they were even lighter so i think we will stick to the end of January from now on, but that first week after Thanksgiving is definitely nice crowd wise.

We arrived on Thanksgiving Day and left the following Wednesday. We did go to MGM on T-day, after dinner at CM's. It was a zoo!!! The day after, Friday, we were in Epcot. I have to say that this is one of the few days I actually couldn't wait to get out of a park. I thought I was going to explode!!! Way too crowded. The crowds were still pretty good thru Sunday. Then, by Sunday evening they started getting better. By Tuesday the parks were a wonderful place to be. Too bad we left on Wed. afternoon. If I were to do it again...I would go for Thanksgiving...stay out of the parks for the most part until Sunday..then stay thru the following week-end, leaving on Sat morning.

Although I've never been at that time before, that's when I'm going in 2005, so I've got the UOG info on it. Supposedly it gets increasingly crowded the day before Thanksgiving through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday rate an 8 out of 10 for busy-ness. However, it looks as if after Sunday, it drops right off-2 of 10 on Monday, then a 1 after that. I'm hoping that's how it goes!

We went this past Thanksgiving - arrived late Tues evening and left the following Tues. It was crowded, but not really horrible for us, anyway. We did the MK late at night. It was open until midnight!! That was awesome - it was EMPTY! We just had a blast late at night, slept in, did other things during the day like boating, tea party, shopped, park hopped. We really had one of our best trips during that stay. We found other things to do and made some different memories.

We went to the MK about 700 Thanksgiving night for a PS and it was actually OK. By the time we were done eating dinner, crowds had thinned and we were just walking on rides in Adventureland. Maybe we were just lucky and in the right place at the right time.......but it was GREAT for us!!

I would warn you about the UOG's numbers, though. I really don't believe they are very accurate. I was OK during the Thanksgiving period becasue I went there expecting crowds, but the UOG claimed it to really drop off the Monday after Thanksgiving and I was extremely disappointed because I didn't find that to be the case at all. I just would be careful about what you expect due to that book. That was the biggest bummer for me. I kept looking forward to the day at the MK with a light crowd and it just didn't happen.
