into the search bar on Facebook to find the group. We add people as soon as we see the request. You should be able to find it with less than that above, but that's the exact name of the group. :)

I posted this on facebook since most of the activity seems to be there rather than here, but wanted to put it here also for those who are more comfortable with the DISboards....

Having a meet that first afternoon makes it a lot easier to spot our fellow DISers later on Unless there are other thoughts, I would suggest the Bon Voyage lounge located on deck 3 just behind guest services and the elevators. We did that 2 years ago and it worked very well. It isn't all that crowded and is an easy place to hang out for the whole time or just stop in for a minute to say hi. On most of our cruises, we have usually had the meet from 3 to just before 4 (life boat drill time).

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Input? ;)

Having our group mostly communicating via Facebook is totally new for me. Our other 5 cruises have all had very active DISboard threads and the idea that there would only be 15 pages this close to cruise time is just crazy! :confused3

One of the things we are missing is a central, easy to look up, place for basic info. For our other cruises, this was usually the first post in the thread. Whoever started it would add a lot of the info as it evolved and would link to the specific posts as needed. Once or twice, the original first poster dropped the cruise, but they usually would put a note to that effect in the first post and point a link to the NEW location for basic info (often someone else still on the first page). If the 1st poster couldn't do it, then sometimes the 2nd/3rd/etc would do it. The idea is to have it as close to the front of the thread as possible so when new peeps come to the thread it is easy to find.

Is there any way to do such a thing with a facebook group? Some sort of "Sticky" post that stays at the top?

I don't know if the 1st poster on this thread is still with us or not - PoppyGirl, are you still here?

Some of the info often found in that 1st post includes:

Basic cruise info (Dates/Ports/Specialty nights/etc)
Roll call of the DISers (Can vary from just a list of screen names to a list that includes first names & ages or even cabin numbers. Each group has always sort of agreed what to include.)
Links to info on FE groups (either to sign up or a link to the list)
Info on any meet-ups/group activities planned
Info on a T-shirt design or any other "group" planning.

Obviously, some cruises have tons of info & some have less, but it seems to be pretty hard for many of us to find this info without scrolling & scrolling through facebook posts scanning everything to try and find it.

Anyone out there a facebook expert who can help organize something like this?

I am fine with whatever people decide. I would like to be outside, however, if possible. Upper deck above the adult pool is great (adult area still open to kids prior to sale away). It's nice and quiet there too. Have met there several times Deck 12 Forward. So I guess we would pick between indoors or outdoors. Just wanted to throw out another option.

What you are referring to for a "sticky" post on FB is called a "Pinned Post". Yes, it can be done by the Admin for the page, so that would be LaRae and Joanna.

I certainly don't feel picky about the location - outside is fine :) Is there any shade in that area? I not sure if I was ever there during our cruise on the Fantasy. Is it the area around the satellite dishes?

Satellite Falls is on Deck 13 and is further Forward. The area I refer to is on Deck 12 directly above the Quiet Cove pool. There is shade around the edge. It is directly Forward of the Edge Tower, but one deck down. There are restrooms right there. Tons of chairs and there is a bar directly above it.

We've all been very careful to post anything about meets, drink classes, and fish extenders here and on the Facebook page.

For me, Facebook is easier since it keeps multiple "threads" separated by what they're about. For instance, I don't have to read through 4 pages of chatting about the kids club on FB to find things about adult meets. I just can find where someone started a discussion about meets and read the comments there. It seemed that FB was where a lot of us are. It was not meant to exclude. Like I said, we've made sure everything is in both places, but most of the chatter & "getting to know you" stuff is over on Facebook. (It, however, is NOT being run by rival travel agents...)

I don't know the person that started this thread, but it hasn't been updated much in the first few posts. My family, friends, and I started planning for this cruise over a year and a half ago. It's nice to finally have the chatter pick up! I'm looking forward to meeting y'all!

Would love for anyone to pick up the organization of a meet. LaRae organized the first two FE groups (with me being a helper as needed). She also started our FB group, and I'm just a second admin. Another DISer picked up the latecomers FE group, and yet another planned a mixology class for us! It's been pretty awesome to see all of this come together! :goodvibes

PDarrah on Dis and also by her own name on FB is in the process of organizing our Day 1 Pre-sail Meet-n-Greet. She has posted both on here and FB today. I am the one that organized the FE-3 group. I am pleased to say we hit 20 participants TODAY and that final group is now closed. We are going to have so much fun!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I suspect that FB is easier for those who use it all the time. :) I do not use it for anything other than DIS stuff - the way posts jump around as the most recently touched moves to the top really confuses me. I was away for 5 or 6 days last week and when I came back it was really hard to figure out how far I needed to scroll back to not miss anything. I guess each format has it's strengths. :cool1:

Do either you or LaRae have the ability to "Pin" a post to the top of the group so it would stay in place? I did a little research & it looks like this is an available feature for FB Groups, but I'm assuming it is limited to the admin. Either a summary post, or if you would prefer, a link back to a post here that summarizes (I could put it together and it would just end up on page 16 or 17 or whatever) would be really nice. A link to a summary elsewhere would help keep the pinned post short so it didn't take up a lot of screen real-estate. If we have a summary somewhere, I could try sending a PM to the OP and see if she could add a link into the first post here.

I'm happy to "pin" a post on FB but it seems to get overlooked unless people are on the computer. When using the mobile FB app for phone or tablet, the pinned post is there but requires an extra click that most people don't know to do. :) I will try to work on it tonight and tomorrow.

Getting close! We are going to be on board as well. Our family (16 of us) normally take a thanksgiving trip, this will be our first group trip on Disney.:cheer2:, a second for my wife and I. Its nice to see a group of motivated people as well. I had just learned about FE's and from the looks of it the groups are full. I will have to join a group earlier for the next trip. Any how see you on board..:yay:

V. excited about our 3rd Disney Cruise, 2nd with kids, and 1st with extended family. My kids are DS 11 and DD7 (almost 8 by November). Extended family cousins are all older boys - I'd would love to meet up with others w/DDs in the 7-9 range that might be looking for a friend that week? (not that I don't want to hang with my 7 year old the whole week.....but I would love to not hang with my 7 year old the entire week :-))

I've updated the FE lists with all changes that have been sent as of today. If your cabin number has changed, please let me know ASAP, so the list can be updated. Here is a link:

Also, if Scott5150 is still on the thread, can you please message me and let me know you are still in? I haven't heard back from you and I want to confirm some details.

Thanks!

Can someone save the document as an attachment and email it to me? I cannot access these web-based documents on my computer. Thanks!

We are also going on this cruise. I had never even thought about looking for a cruise meet thread until now.

Over on facebook, I've setup a poll for where peeps prefer to have a DIS Meet that first day after we board. The plan is to have it from 3-4pm - after everyone is on board but before the safety drill, early dinner, etc.

If you are not over on facebook, please post here and I will include you vote in the totals...

We've had 3 suggestions for locations.

1) Bon Voyage Lounge on Deck 3: This is a quiet spot & usually not very crowded. Easy to find the group and to talk to each other.

2) Upper deck above the adult pool - Deck 12 forward: Another quiet area (adult area still open to kids prior to sail away). Outdoors

3) Outlook Lounge (Small lounge up on 14 – top of the funnel)– Super quiet, inside area with a great view of the port area. Not 100% sure that it would be open.
