Thanksgiving 2014--Nov 22 to Nov 29, 2014 Disney Fantasy 7 Night Eastern Caribbean

Cruisecrasher, I like Pirates and Pilgrams!

I went on the Magic for Thanksgiving in 2012.
My DD will be 5 3/4 and DS will be 8.
Have you done any cruises before?
I really need to hop on my computer and read back on this thread.

I haven't been on this thread for awhile, been focusing on this year's Thanksgiving cruise.

Welcome to all the new cruisers. I see we have another DISigner among us. Lorelei I have some of your designs.

I also see we have a Facebook page, will need to go join that.

We've only been on 1 other cruise...a Dream Double Dip last June/July. We had a great time!! We are headed to WDW in Nov and April but I'm really looking forward to all of the holiday festivities and decorations, not to mention the relaxation of the cruise.

I've read a lot of your posts regarding allergies. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after months of being in pain, both deep muscle soreness and joint aches. Not to mention a whole bunch of other symptoms. I'm more for alternative medicine rather than conventional (unless needed) so I knew I would try everything I could before going on the meds they recommended. After tons of research, I eliminated gluten from my diet. I was doing great for about 4 months but am having a flare up now. Could be stress as we are going through lots of life changes right now, but I'm wondering if I need to eliminate something else such as corn or dairy. I'm also a vegetarian.

Not sure if you are on facebook, but we chat over there once in a while too. Both will pick up once we get a little closer. 63 weeks seems like forever but I can't believe we are already in September so it will go by quick!

With three DISigners on this cruise, we should could up with a pretty good mascot. Everyone seems to like Pirates and Pilgrims for our cruise name. I'm thinking a Mickey head with a Pilgrim hat and an eye patch!!!!

Wow, it's like a whole DISigners cruise! How neat!
I sent a request on facebook, but after I clicked request to join it didn't as me if I wanted to send a message...
:confused3
Anyway, I'm Lorelei (Lori) Ketcherside, please add me!

it's a small world after all....

We're coming to!! It's me and my Mom (and possibly my step-dad if he can get a US visa, but that's a long shot). I hope the ship will be decorated for Christmas!! That would be so special :lovestruc

On our FB page it was requested that we start a FIsh Extender (FE) list for anyone who is interested. I've begun a google doc with basic info that will only be open to invited members. If you would like to be included, please PM me your name & email address so I can send you an invitation to the google doc where you can add your family's info-names, ages, special info, etc. I will keep email addresses private. :)

Hello everyone!!! We decided to change things around and cruise during the Thanksgiving holidays next year! We originally planned to cruise on Fantasy in June with my SIL and her family...but she backed out on us (which I knew she would!! Ugh!)

A little bit about us (just me and my DH...no kids...YET!) We are both in the mid-30's (33 and 34...will be 34 and 35 by the time we sail) living in South Georgia! I am a media specialist (fancy way to say librarian) in a primary school and been in education profession for 10 years now....my DH has his own cell phone business and he is his own boss! Lol I'm a HUGE Disney Fan (my DH...he likes it but not as crazy as me) and we LOVE to sail on DCL!! I just completed my Grand Slam cruise 2 weeks ago and my DH will go on his Grand Slam cruise next week!! (This will be our 5th cruise).

Our first DCL was in Sept 2008 with Wonder (4nights/5days) and was wonderful!! Then we jumped straight to 7-night with Magic in 2011 and Fantasy in June 2013...and a quick 3-night Dream just 2 weeks ago!! I'm telling ya...I was more exhausted on the 3-night cruise than 7-night cruise!! 7 is just a perfect days to sail!! Lol

Oh and I did run (or walk...or crawl...however you wanna call it! Lol) the 5k in the September weather and let me tell ya...it was HOTTTT and HUMID!!! But I loved getting the medal at the end :) I will try it again in November and I HOPE it is not going to be as hot or as humid as it was in September!!

I would LOVE to participate in FE group as I'm already thinking/deciding on the gift already!! Lol

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all and see y'all real soon!!!

OMG, you must have gotten on the ship just as we got off! We were on a 4-night dream that sailed Sept 1st. Welcome to the group :goodvibes

We are from Texas too and I have DD's ages 9 and 5. For some reason I cannot PM you. Will you PM me so I can get you my e-mail to add? Thank you! :cheer2:

I sent you a PM, but I think you have to have 10 posts to PM, so I'm not sure if it will allow you to receive or reply to my message.

Hello fellow lovers of all things Disney! This is my first post and I'm not certain I'm doing it right, but here goes ...

We haven't been on a cruise since 2006, so I'm already VERY excited. Visits to WDW are amazing, but not all that relaxing. We usually need a vacation when we get back home. With starting a 60-hour work week, my husband needs a vaction to just chill, and I know we'll find that on the cruise. I can already smell the salty air ... and this will be our first time with a verandah!

So, I recently booked this Thanksgiving cruise, and this one in particular for a couple reasons. First, I'm really excited about the stuff Disney put on their website regarding holiday cruises. As if they could add even more magic than a regular cruise, right? Second, it is tough for the kids to miss a whole week of school, but only 2 days off that week is doable.

I was looking at cruise videos on YouTube and saw all the stateroom doors decorated. When we cruised in 2004 and 2006, I don't recall seeing all that stuff. Anyway, I thought it looked like a really fun thing to do and started googling ... and here I am. I found this forum, learned about fish extenders, and got some really awesome ideas.

SO OF COURSE WE WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FISH EXTENDER GIFTING. Kudos to whoever thought of this!!! From what I read, this forum is the best place to get involved with a group. So I'm hoping our family can join in all fun. Whoever's "in charge" of this forum and/or group, please let me know what we need to do to take part.

Blessings! Can't wait to hear back.

Hi txmommy34,

We would absolutely LOVE to be in your FE group. We'll be first-timers! My name is Kelly McAninch and I'm from Martins Ferry, OH. (Not on FaceBook, Twitter, or any of that social media stuff). Just good old-fashioned email, but since I've only made one post on the forum I'm not "allowed" to provide an email address. How can I get in touch with you?

I'll be cruising with my husband and two children. My daughter will be 16 at the time, and my son will be 10.

If you accept us into the group, do you have any idea on the number of staterooms that will be participating? Is there a cutoff? I'm assuming that the Google document you created gathers info on the number of people in the stateroom and ages, correct?

Sorry ... just excited and getting ahead of myself with the questions. I look forward to hearing back from you.

:welcome:
And kudos to you for being so on top of things! My first cruise, we didn't know about disboards, FEs or anything. Looking back now, I can't believe how out of touch we were.

There's also a facebook page for this group. For whatever reason, that seems to get a lot more activity. Joanna and LaRae Crawford were kind enough to start organizing the FE for us. If you message them there, I'm sure they'll put you on the list :goodvibes

In the last year or so most of my cruise dis meets groups have coalesced more over on Facebook rather than here like my old groups.
Oh well.

Just booked this cruise. Also just found out that we left DD's back pack on the Disney wonder on Saturday! Tomorrow is Monday. So just as I was about to try and get involved here, I realized I have to go work on this situation first. I wanted to post something so hopefully it will be easier to find this when I come back. See ya real soon!
