Thanksgiving 2008 Meal Reviews Please!

We ate at Boma's Thanksgiving night at 8PM. They offered a traditional Thanksgiving buffet and some of their normal buffet items. They had 2 different sections on the buffet for Thanksgiving dinner. Offering turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and vegtables. The turkey was so moist( I hate dry turkey). The stuffing was one of the best I have had. We loved it all! 2 of us pretty much stuck only to Thanksgiving foods with some added mac n' cheese because it was soooo yummy. The other 2 also ate some pasta and pork loin which they also enjoyed. There was also a few other african items on the buffet that we did not try including a mustard salmon. The dessert buffet was mostly their normal one with an added pumpkin crisp(or something like that) we were all so full from dinner we skipped dessert. The one thing we did not like was the gravy option, but luckily their turkey was so moist we didn't miss it. They also had a fresh fruit bar which was amazing, best fruit I've seriously ever had. Not to mention spending sometime in the resort was worth it as well. I believe the Holiday Pricing was 32.99 per person(not sure on child price) but it was really sooo worth it and I would definitely pick it again for Thanksgiving!

So good to hear...this is where I was thinking of dining. What other meats did they have besides turkey? You mentioned pork loin, anything else? My kids don't like either one...

Hey all I remember them having was Turkey, Pork Loin, Salmon, and then they had chicken nuggets on the kids part of the buffet. I do not think they had any other meats out but I could be wrong...there was sooo much other food I think it would be really hard for anyone to not find a few things they enjoy!

We made a resv. at Tony's at MK for Thanksgiving evening. It was the only restaurant in all of the parks that was free. The regular menu plus a thanksgiving entree. We at Tony's on the evening we arrived and the meal was horrible. We canceled the resv. for Thanksgiving. We went to Crystal Palace in the morning for the wonderful character breakfast....everyone happy. Spent the day at MK and then ate a wonderful buffett dinner at Shoney's near Crossroads. Our waitress was wonderful and all the customers were talking and happy. We had a much better meal than we would have had at Tony's and much less expensive. It was like $13 adult and $6 per child.

On a side note: We love Whispering Canyon at FW Lodge! And the Nine Dragons at China in Epcot...we did lunch twice there. The 2 best lunches that I have ever had. Great service....great views. I could have eaten there every day!:thumbsup2 Our other favorite is Mama Melrose at DHS. Good food and service every time.

No more Tony's. :confused3

Completely out of curiousity (since we have no plans pending to be at WDW on Thanksgiving - at least not in the next few years) are the prices for the special Thanksgiving turkey dinners fairly even, from restaurant to restaurant? As an example, is the cost roughly the same at Le Cellier as it is at - say - Crystal Palace?

From what I've read, the turkey dinners sound about on par with one another, so I was curious whether the establishments that usually charge more for meals are about the same for the meal. Yes, I understand that Le Cellier, as an example, also offers their AWESOME cheese soup, but I'm still wondering... :confused3

Hi... I'll do a review soon but I have to make dinner first. We ate at the Captain's Galley. It was buffet. I have some pictures too. I'll write a full review later this evening. Tina

I look forward to your review and pictures! Thanks in advance for taking the time to provide review and pictures:)

Okay... here's my review of Captain's Grille. They had a special Thanksgiving Buffet. We chose here as we had no plans to visit the parks today. So, it was great to see all the resort decorations at Yacht & Beach Club. Here's the menu they posted outside with the prices:

Here's my kid's plate. She put a roll, cheese, fruit, tortelleni with Marinara sauce, & crab cakes:

My other kid added this to her plate: cheese, chicken tenders, fruit, roll & turkey and Tortelleni with marinara sauce.

One of my dds ordered this Sour Apple Slushie (non-alcoholic)... It was very GOOD:

I ordered a Chocolate Martini. I didn't love it as it was missing a creamy component. It was on the dry side.

The other dd ordered a Berry Smoothie.

My dh ordered a beer but I didn't take a picture of it...

I didn't take a picture of the actual buffet but I took pictures of our food. My dh pretty much put the same things on his plate as well. Here's my first plate of mixed green salad with ranch & pumpkin Bisque Soup (I had two servings of the soup). I love anything pumpkin so, this was delicious:

Here's my food plate. I had coleslaw, sausage stuffing, turkey & mashed potatoes with gravy, crab cakes (tasted a little fishy), green beans & sweet potatoes:

Everything was good. Nothing out of this world good but good for a Thanksgiving buffet.

Here's our dessert plates. I was disappointed in the dessert size. Everything was mini and didn't have a lot of flavor. We liked the Gelato the best. They had fruit, chocolate pecan tartlet, pumpkin pie tartlet, chocolate gelato, pumpkin pie cheesecake, strawberries with yogurt, & brie. They also had vanilla gelato as well.

While the food was fine, it wasn't a must do for us. We'd probably pick a different place next time. The service was good.

Thank you for the review with photos. There are so many places to choose from for Thanksgiving. I am thinking we want a regular meal or one that is served family style opposed to a buffet. However we may change out mind depending on reviews.:)

I agree with you. I think, at a sitdown the quality of food would be better than a buffet. I only do buffets because my family loves them but I don't. I think, they just like the variety and all you eat option. However, at this point in the trip we were too full to eat much. So, I was only able to eat the salad, soup (twice) and one main course plate & dessert. I even skipped lunch that day so, I could eat more and I couldn't. I did think it was worth it for the price as I would not have been able to make all the food for less than $150 (but I live in California where food is expensive).

Thank you for the reviews they are great. Anyone else with Thanksgiving meal reviews please post.:)

I agree about the quality for the sit down compared to the buffet.
anyhow our dinner was $28.99 per adult at the brown derby. our appetizers/desserts were seperate. ds ate off the kids menu instead of the thanksgiving one. I think if he did it would of been $13.00 or so..

My family ate at Citricos for Thanksgiving.

We were a party of 11 and were able to sit all together. The atmosphere was very relaxing and elegant. I loved that part.

We did not get a choice of appetizer. It was one appetizer and everyone got it. Im not sure what it was! Three melonball scoops of 3 different somethings. I know one was crab. I think one was of potato and I really really couldnt tell you what the other was.

Warm bread was brought to the table, but it was Rye. Im not a fan of rye bread.

Second we all got salad. Very good with house dressing (italian vinagrette).

Then we had a choice of 5 entrees. Hubby got Lamb, BIL got Duck, the rest of us had Turkey. I think they also offered Salmon, and a beef dish.

Although the Turkey was good, with mashed potato and green beans, the serving size was incredibly small. 2 thin slivers of white meat and a very very very very small piece of dark meat.

For dessert, I had an apple tart that looked and tasted like someone had a month old individual pie shell hanging around..hard as a rock...filled it with uncooked walnuts and pecans and put a dallop of Comstock Apple Pie filling on top. I have NEVER had an apple pie I didnt like until this moment. Hubby got pumpkin cheesecake. He said it was good.

I think we all paid the same amount $56 per adult..cant remember kids price, but it was less.

We ate at Crystal Palace at 9:45 that morning, so I wasnt starving at 4:00pm when we sat for our Thanksigiving meal. Otherwise I would have ran to the nearest CS after leaving that place!!

Thank you for the reviews they are great. Anyone else with Thanksgiving meal reviews please post.:)

Yes, please post! I have enjoyed reading your reviews and am carefully considering what y'all are saying since I am planning a Thanksgiving 2009 trip.

Anybody try Trails End Buffet at Ft Wilderness? It seems perfect for my hubby, who is celebrating a birthday on Thanksgiving Day next year.

Thank you!

We had Thanksgiving Dinner at the Kona Cafe - party of 6 @ 9:40PM. It was GREAT. I think the cook was trying to get rid of the food in the kitchen because the reservations stopped at 10PM. We were some of the last people in the restaurant. Price was $24.99 adults and $9.99 kids. It was one selection on the menu and you could order from the regulare menu as well. We all ordered the Thanksgiving dinner. It included a drink - coffee, soda, tea, milk, etc. and included the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. There was turkey, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, bread, - I know I am forgetting something. We were stuffed and took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom to walk around until midnight. AWESOME Dinner! Highly recommended!!!

My thanksgiving dinner consisted of some nibbles from the CR concierge snackbar and then a visit to Pinnochio village haus around 10pm. BF and I both had chicken nuggets and fries. Chicken, turkey, all the same thing! :rotfl: Was pretty tasty, thanks to the availability of Ken's honey mustard sauce!

Thank you for the reviews they are great. Anyone else with Thanksgiving meal reviews please post. The review for Kona sounds great. Did anyone eat Thanksgiving Dinner at CRT?

That sounds way better than my $56 meal at the Grand Floridian!

This is a great post as our family is deciding if we will do a Thanksgiving trip in 2009. Of course, where to eat is always top priority. :lmao: :lmao:

I'm giving this a bump, as we're looking at Thanksgiving 2009; maybe some more people have come back from their T-day vacations? Any more reviews? Anyone?
