Thanksgiving 2007!!!

Kelli sure collected a lot of beads at New Orleans. I hardly got any. I dunno how she does that!:confused3

OMG! That is a lot of beads! Mrs. W knows how to take care of business!

Hey everyone, how is the weather where you are today?

I live just to the West of Tampa, on the Gulf:

Life is Good (except between late May and October)!

Kelli and Lisa ran into Lampy on Bourbon street! What are the chances? He is the one in the middle. Even he got lots of beads!

Hmmm, art auctions? :scratchin

Not really my cup of tea. I'm not sure that this fits in with the Turkey Day Gang.

Yes, there are art auctions on DCL, but I was too busy doing more important stuff to bother with that.

Frank- you need to be thinking about drinking and having fun, not bidding on a mickey mouse statue.

That's the problem - way too many drinks!!! In Ensenada on Saturday, our group went through 25 buckets of beer (6 beers in each bucket) for a group of 10 people. Now of course there was a spilt beer here and there, but do the math - that is a lot of beers in a 3 hour period. The auction was the next day and they were handing out champagne - but of course it was lousy champagne, so I started in with my Miami Vice's. 2 hours later I was out over $2,000 - maybe this drinking thing isn't so good afterall:confused:

OK- So this was a good lesson for you. Forget about going to any art auctions on DCL. Save your money for beer.

Well, I guess it really depends on *who* your attendants are, rather than the line you're on. On our first Disney cruise (the Wonder in 2004), our dining staff was not great at all. I kept comparing them to our first cruise, which was the Big Red Boat and they were just coming up way short. So I was thrilled in 05 on DCL when our dining staff was awesome!

And like I said, on CCL, I wasn't impressed with our stateroom guy, but our dining staff was equal to DCL's.

Anyways....yes - my son was totally thrilled to win the limbo contest. How he did so was kinda funny.

We were walking out of a show and came upon the limbo contest in progress. I told him -- 'just go ahead get at the end of the line!' So he did - there were maybe 3 kids ahead of him - boys around 13-15. And one by one, the boys all fell out, as had all the other contestants before them. Then David went and aced the bar, no problem mon! The other kids had no idea he was back there and when they announced the winner - you shoulda seen their faces - LOL!

And he won a very lovely authentic bronze medal depicting a Carnival ship on a red/white/blue ribbon.

Other wonderful prizes that are very highly treasured are the so-called 'ship on a stick'. We didn't win any of these, although I know I could have easily if I had been chosen for the trivia contest! Oh well, next time!

Hey all you Texans - if I lived in driving distance to Galveston, I would definitely be sailing on Carnival again soon. A huge expense for us is the airfare - with 6 going it adds up.

I wish there were cruise ships going out of Lake Michigan. Well, actually there are, but the choice is either a 3 hour dinner cruise or a cross the lake from Sheboygan, WI to Ludington, MI. Hmmm....nah, don't think so.

Come on guys - at least I should get credit for the 25 buckets of beer in 3 hours, right!!!:thumbsup2 Like I said, lesson learned, and I won't be buying anything on the cruise next time except drinks (and maybe a picture or two). Oh, speaking of pictures on the boat - we were hunting around for pictures of ourselves on the last night of the cruise, and I came across a bunch of pictures we took the first night. I literally don't even remember taking these pictures at all, and there were about 5 shots of us in different poses. Keep in mind that when we got to our room at 2:00 in the afternoon Friday, we opened up all of the smuggled booze we brought on and had a party in the hallway (keep in mind this is the 3 day Carnival booze cruise and the kids were left at home with Grandma). Way too many Kettle One and Cranberries that first afternoon!!

Prisilla, Mary & Andrew -

Thanks for the welcome home! Its not fun being home, I'll say.

I just have to count my blessings, however, as I keep hearing about the nasty weather happening in Texas lately. We had perfect weather and since we did our own driving to and from the port (about 45 minutes) I'm very thankful for that.

Well, hope you enjoy your next Turkey Day cruise!

Over and out,
Kris

I didn't know they served alcohol on the beach at CC - I just assumed it was Disney and they didn't do it. Now I really can't wait to go:woohoo:

Then you'd better get to CC BEFORE Lampy!:rotfl2:

Obviously Lampy has a hook-up to his own private serving staff on the beach, so I will need to make sure my chair is close by (maybe I can steal his server now and again). My guess is he and Willie have their own private CC Beer Locker that is kept cold and ready for their arrival:cool1:

Sheez- I sure had to work a lot these past two days-hardly any time for the Dis.

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone.

Go Bears (that is for you Lampy).

Go Colts (it is Tony Dungy's time)

Bears/Colts in Miami.

Road trip?

Hi everyone! Looks like my family will be joining you this Thanksgiving. :cool1:

We just got off the Wonder this past Sunday after a short 3 night cruise, and MIL loved it so much, she insisted we all go again for a longer cruise. You don't have to tell ME that twice! I jumped right into planning mode this week, and discovered the best time for all of us to go will be this Thanksgiving.

It'll be me (Laura), DH, DS 14, DD 12, MIL, BIL, SIL, nephew 16, niece 8, and a neighbor with his two DS's 18 and 16.

I tried to read back a few pages, and I remember someone posting they have two DD's 12, so I'm sure my DD Leah would love to meet them. :)

Welcome Laura!

Yes, there will be quite a few 12 year-old girls. (Our DD will have just turned 13, but would still prefer to hang with the 12 year-olds.)

Your family will be sailing with the best DCL cruisers yet! A great many of us sailed together in 2005, (some even in 2004!) and we all wore lime green t-shirts that we had printed with the sail date and a logo on the front. There were almost 100 of us at the meet. (I know some of you '05 Turkies have photos you could display?)

Lucky you, that your family and neighbors are sailing with you too. I have a hard time convincing my family and neighbors.:confused3
