Hotel Update

I started reading emails this morning when I got to work and I saw that Orbitz was having a flash sale on the Anabella at 40% off. I logged in through Ebates to get some cash back. The flash sale brought the Anabella down to an average of $125/night which is much better than the other comparable hotels in the area. Total was going to be about $1100 with taxes. I remembered at the last minute to try the 20% Orbitz code and it worked!!!!! It brought my total down to $867 for the week!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I'm so excited!!! I didn't dream I could find such a good deal!!! Now I'm off to find a rental car deal.

(I can tell I'm not getting much work done today!)

Yay for booking the hotel! I just realized you're here for a whole week! And you'll have a car! You can come visit Casa Nueva! Not sure if Olga will be moved in yet, we have a lot more moving to do than we realized. We should figure out what day I'm going to come tour the park with you!

I did the layover because my mom lives in Las Vegas and she is getting on the same flight and then we will share a taxi. I always look up tickets all over and end up flying southwest. We got the winter offer so we are staying a PPH. Ill waive to you Sunday morning! We are leaving here at 5am for DIA.

Good thing you are flying in Sunday. We are getting our first major (only) storm of this season and they're saying it's gonna be a doozey! At half an inch of rain So Cal is crippled and they're predicting 1-3 inches. It will be soggy when you arrive but hopefully the worst will be over with.

Get out! I actually have never been over on this board. This morning I was toying with the thought of doing a trip to DL and realized I know NOTHING about DL so I thought I'd come over and check it out and here you are! Looking forward to hearing about all your plans. :thumbsup2

Yep, a full week! I was toying with less time but then I said forget it and I'm making it a full week. I figured that would give me more time and flexibility to explore and hopefully see Casa Nueva! I'll shoot you an email and we can coordinate schedules.

I swear the weather is one extreme or another. You guys have been so dry and now you are getting too much at once! Happened here in Colorado last year as well with all the fires and then flooding. Crazy! Stay dry!

There are lots of knowledgeable DL folks on here. I've already learned a lot on their TRs!

How funny! The title of your thread is just about what I'm doing for my upcoming trip in about 2 weeks. I had no plans to take a trip this year since I was going to save money and vacation days but with a nice refund and a couple of days off for spring break (I work at a school) so why not?
I've been to DLR many times since I was a kid but they were always 1 or 2 day trips. This time I'm going to be at the parks for 4 days and doing it solo! No one there to exclaim "again?!" when I tell the group I have to use the bathroom! ;)
As for the hotel...I went back and forth and sideways about where to stay and decided to do some major splurging and go for the DLH. Ever since I was young I wanted to stay there but since we had family friends that lived just a mile away, we stayed with them. Credit card will take longer to pay off but I think it will be worth it. :goodvibes
I'm looking forward to reading about your upcoming plans and trip! :thumbsup2

OH you're in trouble now. I found you. How dare you not tell us you were starting a TR. :sad2: I'm going over to Ponzi's and our (Lady H and I) TR right now to post the link. You've been warned. :lmao:

Hmm, I had one of those "I'll just pay off the credit card someday" trips to Paris in 2008. I had just laid off 25% of my team and it wasn't looking good for me so I just said to heck with it and went!

LOL...You busted me! I can't compete with your report or a Nebo (or a Ponzi) report but I'll do my best!

I am from MO!! But Southeast MO...were doing a trip in July....we drive

Howdy fellow Missourian! Where abouts do you live? I grew up just outside of Columbia (Go Mizzou!) and moved to KC after I got out of the Army. Driving??? Ugh, I hate the drive from Colorado to Missouri let alone all the way to CA even though my family did it in a 1980 Mustang hatchback!

You better not let Ponzi read this. He may take offense to it.

I on the other hand am flattered.

I'm sure you will do fine. I'll help point out the flaws ;) oh um, I meant help guide you along the way. Yeah, yeah. Guide you. That's what I meant to say. Either way, I'll be reading along. :thumbsup2

Just above the Bootheel in New Madrid, I went to Mizzou for a year when I got out of high school

That's an AWESOME price for the Anabella. Well done.

Hope you get a good rental car deal as well.

Great price, nice choice. :thumbsup2 I think Cynthia is a staying there in August. Not sure if she's stayed there before.

That's about what we are paying in August. A little more as we did a bigger room but a very fair price, ($471 for 3 nights). Like the Orbitz code, haven't tired that, we just booked direct and rates have gone up since then due to it being 1/2 marathon and labor day weekend. I have never used Orbitz for anything though so that wouldn't have occurred to me.

I stayed there WAY back in the day in 2001 and was very happy there. Would have stayed there in 2010 but the Sheraton was cheaper. Go figure. I've heard consistently good things about it though so no reason to think it's not still fine and I love the location, it's a super easy walk over. Bascially you walk down the street that takes you right to DTD. You'll hit PP first, then GC, then DTD. Or you can walk to the parking lot which is literally across the street and catch a tram but it was just as easy to walk all the way in I thought. There is also a shuttle but I really don't think you need it.

Check Costco for cars. And keep checking. They go down (often) the closer it gets. I'm using them in April for our DL trip. Right now I'm at $145 for 5 days. Hopefully I can get it down a little more but it is Easter weekend.

Only drag is that the Anabella is $15 per night for parking so factor that in. We are skipping the car in August and doing a towncar there and back as we don't plan to leave property really.

I couldn't find anything under $150/nt in the area that wasn't a Motel 6. I honestly was just using Orbitz to compare prices the other day after I bought my park ticket. I had an email this morning with their specials and it had the special Flash Sale for the Anabella...The price through Orbitz blew everything else away. Jenny had me thinking the Embassy Suites (which look awesome!) but I like to save some money!

Tripadvisor had some mixed reviews but then again so did everything else in the area. Glad you enjoyed it when you stayed. I don't like the parking fee but other than HoJo I was going to have to pay for parking everywhere. I must have a car to see Alison and Fran's house and to get to the In-N-Out. I have been without a trip to In-n-Out since 2005!!!!

I love Costco for cars...I found one for less than $200 for the week and I will probably book it tonight...but I agree you have to keep checking. I'm hoping they will continue to go down in price.

Just found this link on jenny's TR so I'm joining in for the fun! Great price on flights and I love your dates. Good luck picking a hotel.
